Looking out for a good flavour of PURE NON VEG food, then you should never miss this restaurant. It has its own unique dishes which you can never find anywhere else. Prices are at par with Chennai levels, a bit high for Madurai standards. The secrets behind it is, the owner goes out to the wet market himself to purchase fresh supplies.

Is there a way to give more than 5 stars? If you are planning to visit Madurai, make sure you have your lunch here. The foods are top notch and they have loads of varieties available. The service is fantastic. You will miss Amma Mess once you come back from Madurai.

Before visiting this place I had an thought that this place must be like other south Indian hotels. But mind you it is one of its kind. It has got the best taste for the non vegetarian items. Varieties are very unique. Finding Amma mess may be difficult for a non Tamilian as there is no english board. If you want to have best non vegetarian in Madurai then do visit.

Had a wonderful dinner with varities like Mutton briyani, Chicken Dosa, Chicken Parota, Kadai gravy, Chettinad chicken, Nandu boneless. All are delicious. Cost wise it will be good.

Tied Mutton Biriyani which was tender and ok. Would expect a hint of spice, it wasnt spicy at all still aromatic.
Mutton liver roast was well made. Rib chops was spicy and delicious.
Special fish fry was averge and and I didnt like I much.
Mutton kola was soft yet crispy and a must try.
Mango pachadi served with non veg meals will melt your heart.
Another kootu served with meals was also stunning. Dont remember the name.
Butter milk was so tasty.

Above all, I will visit this place again just for the hospitality and warmth of Rajasekar uncle. Never seen such passion for food and involvement in job even at 5 star hotels. Kudos to him!!

Good food and super nice staffs. Small hotel and always crowded because of the taste.plan accordingly. Their biriyani iss very good and most famous dish in this hotel is ayarai meen curry which is a must try. They have plenty varieties of omelette also. Must try for lunch if you are in madurai.

Excellent..! All you can expect for a best food. Special menu are very much impressive. Fish and crab are the must try dishes. Next goes to mutton. It seems costlier but worth for the money. Location, amenities, hygiene and hospitality are good.

The fried fish tasted great as it was very fresh. The mutton biriyani tasted mediocre.Actually they dont know how to prepare biriyani,it's not only mixing rice and mutton.No jafran no keshar it was bland. The mutton curry was just ok.

The taste of the food will last for a long time in your mouth. The food is very good. The wait time and crowd management is the only grey area. One of the must visit restaurant in Madurai.

By far the best south Indian nonveg restaurant I have ever visited.
I have visited this place multiple place although I'm not living in Madurai. I travel from either Dindigul or sometimes Nagercoil. I'd always suggest this place over any other fancy place in Madurai.
There parotta is top notch.
The briyani is good.
prawn (Raal) thokku is brilliant
Crab (Mandi) boneless is the best I would say.

I had travelled to madurai during my vecations, and I had heard a lot about amma mess. It's One of the best non vegetarian restaurants I've ever been to! If you're a non vegetarian, this is how heaven would probably look like.
Hands down! You get the best food in Madurai here!.
Although the place is pretty expensive it's worth ever rupee you spend !
The mutton chukka, biriyani and crab lollipop is a must try.
The waiters here carry fried fish around the restaurant and you pick any you'd want to eat.
(kola urundai) is the highlight!

Five stars for the food and great service. Could improve on cleanliness.

Their keema mutton balls are worth mentioning. Biryani is great too.

We ordered Mutton Biriyani and Chicken Biryani but unfortunately Chicken biriyani was already sold-out by 2 p.m. itself! 😱

Then we ordered Mutton Biriyani, Naatukozhi, nandu omlette, Egg poriyal, vanjaram fish, chicken 65, chicken lolly pop and veg meals.

Everything was top-notch, fish was exceptional. We never had a feel of eating sea food as the aroma was too good. Felt like eating fresh water fish..

A must try south Indian Non-Veg restaurant in Madurai.

I badly needed this. A meal that revitalised my appetite, largely cos I said yes to every recommendation the kind and energetic staff threw at me. I felt like a guest being treated to a royal non vegetarian sadhya with the sambars and parips replaced by thick gravies of mutton and chicken. Every dish slapped but none as much as the mutton kola uzhundey. This unassuming meatball looking dish somehow managed to retain the fatty mutton flavour despite its low ratio among the ingredients. When the waiter offers you two uzhundaies just take them don't wait till you try the first one and save the waiter another up and down from the kitchen.

Amma mess was suggested by my frnd from madurai, went with less expectations, but we were really amazed by their taste and service, 💫 must try their Bonless crab and kola urunda 🦀
