I just got back from a 2 1/2 tour of the slums with Leena. She was so knowledgeable! Everyone should tour the slums while in Mumbai.
We met at the Wheeler Convenience Center located 30 meters away from the Churchgate Train Station platforms in the Colaba District.
You won't believe the work done inside the slums.
We saw recycling of plastic, making bakery and soap items, processing leather and pottery.
It was amazing how we weaved through the streets. We felt completely safe amidst 1 million residents, 40 percent of all in Mumbai.

Reality Tours gives back to the slums.

Sabina, our guide on the street food tour through Mumbai, really took all our worries away: her warmth, her humor and all the stories she was able to tell us as we traveled through Mumbai on foot, by train and by taxi discovering the city's street food spots was unique. From today's perspective, we regret that we didn't book the Slum Tour - she took away our shame and said that this tour would be very special. We want to return to Mumbai and hope that Sabine will still be there for us. Dear Sabine, thank you so much and all the best for you and your family.

We did a street food tour with Javed. It was wonderful!! Javed is very friendly and knowledgeable. On top of that Reality makes sure that the places you visit with the food tour are hygienic. Javed also has a disinfectant with him the whole time. We felt very safe eating and drinking with the tour, in that way we could enjoy a lot. Btw we didn't get sick. This streetfood tour is a must if you're in Mumbai!

Excellent service. I did the slum tour and it was very eye opening. Our guide was incredibly knowledgable and knew of the ins and outs of the development we visited. I felt safe the whole time, or moreso welcomed. They donate ~80% of your tour fee back into programs to help members of the slum, which makes the tour worthwhile in that aspect alone.

A friend recommended I do a tour of the Dharavi slums and so glad I did! Did a private tour with Reality Tours. My guide and the tour were both amazing! A vibrant community with a lot of wonder under the surface and Reality Tours was very knowledgeable. Safe, interesting, eye opening tour. Especially check out the street art and the little businesses and courtyards within. A must do and with Reality Tours which also has an NGO, Reality Gives, to put 80% of profit back into this community.

Great experience doing the the Street Food Tour and also Dharavi Tour.

Street Food Tour: Hitesh and Raj were extremely knowledgable and great communication, easy to find and the train station and full on interesting stories about Food, Mumbai and India in General.

Dharavi Tour: Swathi was amazing and we loved her and her stories. She was so passionate, and we learned so much about the Slum and Slum Life. She is a great guide and a great person.

We went on their tour of Dharavi a couple of months ago, in late April - and we are still talking and thinking about all the things we saw and learnt. Our guide, Javid (who had grown up in the area), was so very knowledgeable and took the time to answer our questions thoughtfully. The tour offers you a glimpse into the different trades and crafts that the people are busily working on, as well as a stroll through the market and residential area. I was a little apprehensive at first, as I was worried that the people of Dharavi would find our presence intrusive. But our guide reassured us that they are happy to have the tours as 80% of the fee goes towards community projects - including a school that he himself attended! It was a thought provoking experience and truly touched our hearts. We were so very happy to meet Javid, such a gentle, friendly and intelligent person - with a good sense of humour too! We joined both the Dharavi tour and the Local Transport & Dabbawallah tour. Bipin and Raj were amazing guides during both tours! It felt like they were our friends, showing us around their hometown. We learned a lot about the slums and how it’s a thriving economy. With the second tour we were able to see a lot of different sights in Mumbai and experience the local lunch delivery system. With both tours we felt like you see and experience the real Mumbai as you jump into to the local life. Definitely book your tour here to learn more about Mumbai and its people!

We did the tour of Dharavi, and it was one of the most interesting things we've done while travelling 2 months in india.

It's something you must do when in Mumbai, and going with this company was great as our guide was able to answer our many questions, and also show us the project where our money is going. As they say 80% of what you pay goes straight back into Dharavi. It was an amazing experience, thank you!

After doing the Dharavi streettour (which was a great experience) and travelling on our own from Mumbai to Kovalam, we decided to ask realitytours to put together a customised programme of 10 days from Kovalam back to Mumbai.

The owner (Mr Pujari) put together a great programme with all our wishes in mind. We had a private driver with knowledge of Kerala to accompany us for 5 days, arranged trains, and the most idyllic accommodations on route. The must see highlights on our stops were carefully selected and absolutely gorgeous!

Mr Pujari suggested to stay for a few days at his hometown to experience local life in Udupi-district Karnataka. We agreed and were a houseguest with him and his family. Thank you so much for the hospitality!

Originally I was leaning against doing any kind of slum tour but then I found Reality Tours and Travel mentioned on an ethical travel blog. Really glad I went, the tour was informative and interesting. You can really tell the company works with and gives back to the community.

Excellent tour company. We did the half day Dharavi tour on Monday 11th November 2019 and our guide was excellent. Really knowledgeable and made sure we were well taken care of. The tour was great value for money and Reality Tours & Travel company puts back into the Dharavi community, which was an important factor for us when we were choosing a tour company to make a booking with.
