This place is truly iconic. Best place for south Indian food. Simple yet very tasty. Starts very early morning, went here for breakfast and place was already full. Lot of waiting during lunch and dinner hours. They have kept the prices reasonable. Service was quick. The idli and tea was really good. Must visit if you like south Indian food.

Must visit if you are around Matunga Or if you love South Indian food or dishes. I’ve visited this vintage place multiple times.

Authentic food, reasonably priced, quickly served, great taste - never felt bloated even when we ate until getting full.

Please Note : If you hit around Lunch or Breakfast time you will be queued, always crowded, no AC ( can be a spoiler in hot season). Parking - open road side parking.

We tried breakfast and lunch items and the taste was very good - authentic, simple and the one you would look for. They have extensive sweets menu too - shall try if you are a sweet food lover.

Idli items - very smooth Idli.
Bisibile Bhath
Dosa’s
Sheera - Pineapple Sheera
Fast Items - Sabudana wada, Lassi.

After reading so much about this place, i desperately wanted to check this place and after coming I understood why all this hype. It's all worth it!

Traditional and authentic South Indian food!
Dal ghee idli was recommended by them with posters all over and so we started with it. So yummy! Then their popular rasa vada was too good. We then had ghee podi idli, Davangere benna dosa, ghee podi dosa, pineapple sheera(kesari), podi UPPUMA and then finally their awesome degree coffee.

The staff were friendly too. Ambiance was neat and clean and the bearer was helpful suggesting their popular dishes. It's a must visit place if you are looking for vegetarian treat or a foodie who tries different types of food.

The food was so delicious 😋, I love South Indian food for breakfast it is the best healthy and delicious. The sambar and chutney were fresh and nice . Service was quick and sweet. They could work a bit on their ambience. Ghee Mysore masala dosa is something I would recommend , best thing I've ever tried . Their filter coffee was a classic too. The roads are usually very busy so the parking is really hard to get . Mornings are very busy usually there is a 10-15 minutes wait which is so much worth it .

Worth the hype.

We visited this place at 5 AM in the morning to be the first ones to enter the restaurant and there were already two people ahead of us. By the time it was 5:30, the entire restaurant was full and there was a waiting line outside the restaurant. Never seen such a scenario before.

Coming to food, everything is just amazing and super tasty. We ordered
1) Pudi Idli (Spicy) - 5/5
2) Thatte Idli - 5/5
3) Rasam Idli - 4/5
4) Medu Vada - 5/5
5) Ghee Roast - 5/5
6) Rava Dosa - 5/5
7) Sweet Lassi - 5/5
8) Pineapple Sheera - 4/5
9) Filter Coffee - 5/5

The service is quick, staff is good and it lived up to its hype. Will definitely visit again.

If you're in the mood for authentic South Indian cuisine, Ramashrya in Matunga East is a must-visit. This quaint restaurant offers a wide array of dishes that capture the essence of traditional South Indian flavors.

The best part about Ramashrya is the food. They have a lot of different South Indian dishes to choose from. If you like dosas, they have crispy ones like masala dosa or thin paper dosas. They also serve fluffy idlis. Each dosa comes with tasty chutneys and sambar that go really well with it.

So, if you're in Matunga East and craving some South Indian food, give Ramashrya a try.
Visit once ✨✨✨❣..

Authentic and simple good food, quick and friendly service. Food is delicious, so light on the stomach and easy to digest.
We had Rava Masala Dosa, Idli Vada, Masala Dosa, Beesibili baath, pineapple sheera, filter coffee, Mysore pak, nimbu paani and paan. Plenty for 3 people and the bill was under 1000 rupees.
The place is a travel back in time to eating simply.
Loved it

One of the best places to have authentic South Indian food in Matunga. They have a set of food items on the menu but they all are amazing. Fresh and delicious food at an affordable price. The coconut chutney is fresh and refreshing. Sambar is also on point. Do visit if you are near Matunga. Just walking distance from the Matunga station.

Located on a corner of busy street in Matunga, this place has been serving lip smacking south Indian food for so many decades.
Ramashray with its humble interiors and nostalgia vibes has always served its customers warmly and heartily even on the busiest of times. The wait has always been worth it!
For first timers I would definitely recommend to try their pineapple sheera and butter podi idly. The medu vadas are also hot and crispy. And do End your meals with the best filter coffee.😃

Waited for atleast 25 minutes to get in, but it was totally worth it. The quality of food was excellent, the taste was very simple authentic and felt home made, and the prices too, were very economical.

We tried their ghee onion Mysore Sosa, pineapple sheera, idli wada sambar and lassi, and all of the dishes were lip smacking delicious.

Definitely should be on your bucket list if you're out to devour some healthy simple south Indian breakfast in Bombay.

I went there on a Friday afternoon and there was rush like it was a weekend evening.

I ordered Mysore masala dosa and filter coffee. Both were superb in terms of taste.

Sitting space is not enough but everyone is accustomed to such a situation and the only thing matters is the taste of the food items, which is at pat with the hype.

Ram Ashraya is the best place in Matunga to have South Indian food ✨

This place is located just near the entrance to Matunga Railway Station.

We tried the dishes below.
1. Bisibelle Bath
2. Buns Puri
3. Lemonade
4. Mysore Pak

Buns Puri was so good we could just have it at any time most recommended dishes of all ✨

This place is heavily crowded and known to be the best so we had to wait for our turn to get a seat for eating.

Food : 5/5
Ambience : 3/5
Service : 5/5
Overall Experience: 4/5

Went here for lunch on a Monday. They have two outlets across the road. One serves only tiffin items and the other serves meals along with tiffin items. We tried the plate meals, pongal and dahi bhat. Meals was sufficient and of good quality. Pongal comes with a crispy vada and tasted good. Pricing is reasonable for Bombay standards. You should definitely try the buttermilk.

We had podi idli, idli, maysore dosa, rasam vada, pineapple Shira and kaju pineapple sweet all of it was delicious specially the podi idli.
Dal vada was too crisp.
Its quite a famous outlet so you might have to stand in line.
No dedicated parking its also very close to the matunga railway station so finding parking space could be difficult.

It’s an old place so don’t really expect a great ambience and stuff. Only people who are serious about South Indian food should visit this place. The place is worth the hype, the food is delicious and pocket friendly. You may have to wait to get in as it is not a very huge place and is always crowded.
