One of the ancient Roman Catholic Church situated at the island of Vypeen, Cochin. The environment is very peaceful and calm here. You can spend hours here admiring the beauty of nature.

Serene and heritage place. Church is almost 500 years old. Excellent sea view. If you are lucky, can even watch dolphins play by noon.

It is located at Fort Vypin in the island of Vypeen, the point where the Vembanad Lake merges with the Arabian Sea, with Fort Cochin on the other side

The morning vibe here is outstanding. We will have a calm and peaceful atmosphere here which was established in 1605. The Church is facing the walkway and Chinese fishing nets. For the first time visitors....We can take vehicles including four wheelers to this Church through the road opposite to the entrance of vipin ferry. Else we van walk through the walkway enjoying the Chinese fishing nets.... Liturgical timings are 6.30 and 8.30 am in the morning and 5 pm in the evening

Another beautiful & traditionally built church at the coast of fort vypeen, dated back to early 1600's when the church was built by the Portuguese.
The ambiance in the church is wonderful. You get the holy feeling & vibe inside the church. Many feasts & ceremonies are held here by the parishioners as well as visitors that know of this church.
Our Lady of Hope is the patron of the island & protector of fishermen at sea.

Our Lady of Hope Church situated in Vypeen Island and is one of the ancient Roman Catholic Churches to be found in Kochi. It was constructed by the Portuguese and this church has a statue of Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ holding an anchor. The Gothic architectural style makes it look elegant and the interiors are well maintained too. This church is quite popular and you have people all across India coming here to pay their respects.
With an objective to spread Christianity missionaries who accompanied Portuguese explorers arrived in Kochi. They provided help and even looked into the complaints of the Christians who lived here. Soon they constructed churches along the coastal area and Church Our Lady of Good Hope was one among them. This church came into being in 1605 under the leadership of the Bishop of Kochi Dom Andrea de Santa Maria. It was rewarded the rank of a Parish and was named as the Nossa Senhora De Esperanca which means Our Lady of Hope. Further restorations for the church was carried out and the fourth centenary was completed in 2005.
