Ski resort GMVN Auli

Everything about this place is excellent. The location, the resort, the staff and their service and the weather. We stayed here for 3 days and it was a refreshing and relaxing experience. The rooms are fantastic. This property belongs to govt. And that is why the rates are fixed. The staff is very polite and cooperative.
The best part that we did not expect in such cold weather was their restaurant facility. The food was tremendous and tasty like anything. Be it lunch, breakfast or dinner. Each and every item on the menu was excellent and was served with utmost etiquette. We had a great time here. It's a premium property don't expect it for cheap

Located near tower 8, this resort is excellent. You can reach there by car in summer and by cable car in winter. Has a great view, food is little costly but very tasty. Room service available. All kinds of amenities were provided. Chair lift is easily accessible. We stayed in deluxe Hut which is difficult for aged people.

Right now I am in Auli hoping against hope that there is snowfall in the next couple of days. I attended a 7 day skiing course organised by GMVNL between Jan 8-14. It was great fun. There was enough snow for beginners like me, though last snowfall was in mid December. It is a pity that this course is not well advertised and people, at large, are not aware of such world class facilities in their neighborhood. Course trainers are an enthusiastic lot and it seems they are enjoying their job. Two of them have won medals in South Asian Games' 2011 held in Auli. Skiing equipments are world class and kept well. Food is decent and accommodation is fairly good if one is in student mode. Support staff are extremely friendly. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for adventure with lots of fun. Auli is a famous skiing spot in Uttarakhand and can be accessed via cable car or road from Joshimath . One can have breathtaking views of Nanda Devi peaks from Auli . Very tranquil and picturesque spot . The fares for cable car (to and fro) is Rs 500 per person.

We family visited GMVN Auli ski resort in November 2022 during our Uttarakhand tour of ten days. Stayed at delux hut which is big room at upper level with balcony and geyser, heater facilities. Have to climb 50 to 60 steps but near to chair lift entry. Enjoyed good food at dining. We enjoyed living and hospitality and surely recommend to all nature lovers.

We booked a family room cottage here in June. This is the most beautiful place, one can find in Uttarakhand.
One cottage is enough of four ppl. It’s like 2bhk cottage. View from here is mesmerising. Food is okay. Service is good. Must visit place.

Best place to explore natural, room service is OK expecting more but ... Room size is good they have 24 hr hot/cold water availability. Parking and Bar is also available.

Best part is you will never like to leave this place..

Very good resort snow time best resort

Right at this gate is GMVN Auli at Tower 8 close to the chair car. In case you are planning to stay in Auli GMVN is good option. Cliff top is where the ski happens at Tower 10. Food at this hotel is really good. And prices at nominal .

Giving some info about when we visited:
We had booked the stay a month back for the date during Christmas i.e 24th and 25th December 2020. The stay we choose was Deluxe hut which costed around Rs 1904 per room. The temperature was from 5°C to -4°C. Initially the reception person took us to the top but when we checked the place it was perfect for the climate.

Things included in the stay:
1. Geyser
2. Room heater: This was pretty good kept the room warm when the temperature dropped below 0°C.
3. Proper bed sheet for a good night's sleep.
4. A dormitory stay for our car driver.
5. Soap and bath towel included for shower.
6. Television with a cable operator.
7. Candles in case the power goes off.
8. Electric Water heating kettle.
9. 2 jugs of water.
10. A nice mountain view from the window early in the morning.

The room review:
1. The room was clean and hygienic
2. The mountain view was great. Early morning you would just feel like having hot tea looking at the mountains.(room view and balcony view)
3. It would have been great if the lifts were working.
4. The bed and the other things provided were proper and comfortable. (Room view)
5. One of our room's heater wasn't working and we got it replaced. The hotel staff were very friendly and helped us to get it replaced.

The restaurant review:
1. The food was served hot.
2. The price was okay compared to others.
3. The dining hall was also included with a heater so it was at an ambient temperature.
4. The quality and taste of the food was good
5. Due to lack of number of kitchen and serving staff there is a delay for every order. It took 2-3 hours for us just to have lunch one time.
6. One of the major issue is that the food is too oily. If you do not like mustard oil make sure you tell the server to reduce the amount of oil usage.
7. Good food includes hot and sour soup and maduva roti.

We took ropeway and chairlift to reach this place.

Chairlift is some kind adventure activity.

We paid 1000per person for both facilities one way only.

We were afraid about the facilities they had. But after visiting the place we were so happy.
They had the following in the room

1. Jaguar geyser and all bathroom fittings
2. Hot water kettle by prestige
3. Super comfortable bed
4. Well cleaned bedsheet
5. Mainly a large heater.(you enjoy the cold outside and room will be kept very warm.)
6. Very friendly staff
7. Restaurant with the nice food although you have wait for long time to get food.

Facilities are really top notch

For my next visit I will surely book the same resort.

Very nice property.. Very big and has all kinds of facilities. The staff is very polite and helpful. Rooms are available for all kind of budge. Food and liquor is available.

The view of the mountains is just amazing which makes all your effort and money worth to travel to this place. During winter you can witness snowfall and Auli is famous for skiing and other snow sports.

Don't miss this place if you have a chance to visit.

Visited auli by self driving from kolkata during April 2022 .. nested at GMVN Ski Resort cottage .. nicely maintained property with good food options .. staffs are courteous with a supportive Manager ..

Love to visit again. In one word it is Indian Switzerland. Skiing facilities available here in winter season. The resort is famous for skiing. The nature in Summer season is also very pleasant. All basic facilities are available in rooms. Room heaters also provided in rooms. Food quality in their restaurant is good. Chaircar ropeway starting point is here, on the top of this resort.

Mountain Stay: Landed here at late night mid of April. No advance booking. Got room at discounted price. It was a cold night. Thank God the accomodation at hotel was good with a room heater. Good food and supportive staff. Woke up to Stunning views. Recommended place to stay in Auli. Book in advance during Dec -Jan as it is peak season.

GMVN also know as Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam is an initiative by the Government of Uttarakhand. This place is in Joshimath (Auli) and it at the city center itself. Walking distance from the bus stand and also the shopping street of Joshimath.
It is also within a walking distance of 5-10 minutes from the "Joshimath Temple"
Prices are affordable and if you are traveling with your friends or solo traveler go for the Dormitory rooms.
You can't believe we got the beds for 300rs Per person. It was one of the best stays we stayed in Joshimath(Auli) at such a price.
Also, the food quality was great, we stayed for 2night and 3days and we hardly had dinner outside (When we wanted to have Nonveg) as the restaurant is Vegetarian.
Washrooms, Beds, Blankets were clean and neat. Hot Water in bathrooms was the entire day (Depends as it is a Solar water heating system)

Also If you are planning to visit Auli go for th GMVN resort only as it has the best views than any other hotel on Auli top.

Scenic place especially if you are fond of Mountains and snow. Chairlift is a bit risky but still an adventurous experience. Rope way is I believe the best medium to reach from Joshimath. Do ensure you book the tickets in advance. The best part is the artificial lake of course. However going by road from Delhi is a lot time taking that too when you plan for a short stay in this area.

Excellent location & rooms, food is average (as many of the items on menu are mostly unavailable).
Staff is nice & very well behaved.
