A beautiful oldest temple in Mumbai. This Mumbai city got this name because of this Devi.

Small temple with three main Sanathi. Temple is in very very narrow lanes and business area.

Important and festival days there will be huge big serpentine line for Dharshan.

Jai Mata Mumbai Devi. Very good place to visit. After Puja we had very good nasta at a nearby restaurant. There are so many Steel, copper utensils shops. We purchased three four items.Rates are reasonable.

Visited on Saturday, still there was a lot of rush, the line started right from the main road itself. A lot of varieties were there which were being sold. You can buy your flowers, coconut, laal chunri and prasadam at the entrance. No photography allowed. The first darshan you get is of Devi Annapurna/Sherawali and then you finally meet Mumbadevi. You get the chance to go through the parikrama marg and then can have Lord Krishna's darshan

We got down at the masjid station, you can reach the temple by taking an auto or walking it's just 1.2 km from the station. I didn't take any auto as there was a lot of traffic in this area so the most suitable option was walking...there are 2-3 routes to reach the place you can find them easily on Google maps. There are some shops and some other small temples , I have seen a park as well inside the temple campus so you can go there as well. While walking towards the temple from the station there are numbers and varieties of wholesale shops of clothes, glassware, utensils and so on..

The Mumba Devi Temple, one of Mumbai's oldest temples, lends its name to the city itself, Mumbai. Legend has it that Mumbai derives its name from Mumba Devi, the deity worshipped here. According to mythology, Mumba Devi manifested to liberate the demon Mumbasur. It is believed that the divine energy or Shakti present here holds significant spiritual importance, influencing the geo-political and economic prominence of Mumbai, making it a hub of power in India.

It was really nice experience, don't trust any pandit, any shop to put your shoes, because every facilities is there inside the temple area. I think there are all gods temple around the main temple, it was really good place to visit with your family and friends. The temple is located in center of the city so you must visit all main bazar near the temple..

It is godess Mumba temple at Kalbadevi. Name of Bombay was changed to Mumbai to honour the godess. It is in crowdy area of Jheveri Bazar. One can buy Prasad from outside shops and offer to the godess. Photography in the temple is prohibited.

Embarking on a truly enchanting experience, I discovered a gem nestled in the heart of the city – a temple surrounded by an aura of divinity and embraced by smaller shrines devoted to various gods. This sacred haven not only captivated my senses.
-Refrain from entrusting your shoes to just any pandit or shop outside, for within the temple's precincts, all necessary facilities seamlessly unfold.

Very vibrant, beautiful and peaceful, the temple is pretty crowded most of the time but it is worth every second you wait to get darshan because the premises of the temple have so much to offer once you get in.

Great place. fully devotional. Just curiosity as there is no local people ( Marathi ) in Managing Committee. Great Place every mumbaikar should visit once. As the Devi is very much historically connected to Mumbai.

I was surprised to see no rush on Sunday evening even while visiting twice...

You can consider going to Crawford market as it's just 500 metres from this temple

God bless 😇🙏🏼

Spiritual experience.
While buying Pooja thali from stalls outside, don't take the box that they have already prepared, ask them to fill a new box by choosing the mithai of your choice.
The box that they have ready has dry old sweets.

This is a very old and traditional temple dedicated to goddess mumbadevi. This is located right in the heart of the city and even the city is named after this powerful and divine goddess. The temple was built in 18th century. Weekends and festive seasons are very busy here with thousands and thousands of devotees visiting. Happy to have received blessings of the goddess.
