Red Pepper Étterem

We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant and went in, we found the staff very friendly and helpful with their recommendations from the menu.
To start I had a glass of Jamason whiskey to warm me up from the cold, my wife had a glass of red wine.
We had the fish soup to start, that was delicious, very strong in flavour and the fish was cat-fish, I then had the Duck Breast cooked with fruit. This was so tasty and filling, my wife had the pork with roast potatoes also delicious,
I can highly recommend this restaurant.
I will have to visit here again before I travel home.
On our next visit the staff remembered us and gave us a big welcome, we had the Duck, chicken cordon blue and mushroom soup. And a bottle of local red wine.

Lucky find for us. Didn’t realize Google review for this place is so high until we sat down in the restaurant, thinking what to eat.

Had the Gypsy Steak with garlic and the Tenderloin with steak ratatouille, goose liver and fried potatoes.

It was soooo delicious! Super tender for both. Highly recommended if you’re around the area.

We had the goulash, which was very tasty, the mushroom soup which was nice if you really like mushrooms but overall not something great, We also tried the goat cheese salad which was fine.
If this place is on your list, you MUST try the deer stew! The meat melts in your mouth!
The guy serving us was great, paid attention to details and was very polite. :)

Great food and some really amazing staff. Probably my favorite meal in Budapest, and there were several very good meals there. The Goulash soup was phenomenal and the Deer Stew very flavorful.

We enjoyed very much our dinner at the Red Pepper. The food is traditional Hungarian. The people dining were a mix of locals and tourists, which I very much appreciate. The ambiance is very traditional and the service exceptional. Our preferred dish was the Ragout in a bread. Fantastic presentation with very taste rich filling. Great!

Nice Hungarian food, quick, polite and friendly service. Price was reasonable but not cheap. The space is clean and has nice ambience.

The restaurant is very cute and the food was delicious! The staff was amazing, polite and with a great sense of humor! The prices are very good and i wish we had the time to go again during our visit in budapest. If you are looking for traditional hungarian food, this is the best place

We only had 3 days in Budapest, but after having the Deer Stew and Goulash on our second day, we had to go back for more on our last day!

Very good Hungarian food.
I took the deer stew and my father the stuffed cabbage and those were really good.
The view is on the square but not in the noise of the square, it’s calm and nice.
The staff is very friendly.

Amazing food. Don’t come here for service or luxury seats, but who cares? It’s all about the food!

Absolute fantastic. We ate a soup, a main dish and a dessert. All was very good. Over the last four days in Budapest, this was our favourite restaurant. We even got our dessert to go one hour after the kitchen closing.

If you’re touring Budapest and are looking for delicious, authentic food - you MUST come here. The service is so friendly, the food is exquisite and the decor/atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable. 10/10 will come back again.

Red Pepper was very good! The food came out relatively quick and it was cooked perfectly. The steak tips were tender but full of flavor along with the potatoes were soft but still had a little crisp to them. The wait staff is super friendly too.

Nice people, very supportive and speaking very good English, so good to see such great care for customers. I took a traditional meal for entire south east Europe, sarma (turkish and romanian) or stuffed cabbage, which were very tasty. The local beer, an IPA, was good too.

Stunning food. We walked past this place and it was rammed, so decided to give it a chance - the food was so good. My partner and I shared goulash in bread to start, then I had the Crispy pork knuckle and he had the duck.

We highly recommend both!

Great little find in Budapest to try our the local culinary specialities. Food was nice and very quick to the table.

Read some good reviews and decided to give Red Pepper a go. We visited late one night and were informed they had stopped taking orders, we understood and the rejection was taken well as it was delivered kindly and with great apology. So much so we decided we would return a bit earlier the next night. We weren't disappointed, service was excellent from start to finish. Orders taken quickly. Food arrived quickly too. When the food arrived it was delicious, I had the bone marrow and my son had the goulash. Both superb. Main dishes were also excellent. Fully endorse Red Pepper. We'll worth a visit.
