Strudel House Budapest, Első Pesti Rétesház

We had an excellent dinner here on a recent trip to Budapest. The food and service were exceptional. The goulash soup was particularly good, and the recommendation to add the paprika cream made it perfect. The duck also great. And of course you have to try the strudel.

A very cozy location with its special features: numerous types of strudel prepared in house. The ones I tried were delicious. The goulash soup was also very good and the beef tenderloin was excellent. Impeccable service, nice atmosphere, prices a bit high but justified by the services offered. Definitely a restaurant worth trying in Budapest.

The beef goulash, oh man! That was the best goulash/stew I have ever had. Also the chicken Caesar salad was surprisingly amazing. The grilled chicken was incredible, so much that I had to stop mid-meal to take a photo of my salad.

The only drawback is that our service was super slow. Our waiter was busy on 7 tables, so it's understandable, but still, it took awhile.

Food was so good. Tasty and friendly host as well. Shared some stories about the restaurant and how many pies they sellout everyday on a board at the wall. Great feels and ambience for classic photo shots as well

The strudel piece is small. That i really didn’t like lol. Of course it was delicious. Waiters and service is good and fast, you can serve all strudels right on site, very fresh. Also the decor is beautiful and cozy.

We were here for the second time. The food here is incredible! Has to be the best meal we had in Budapest. The prices though are really high... But trust me, it's 100% worth it! If you ever come here, you must try their strudel and cheese soup! Their meats are also something heavenly! Would definitely come here again and again!

If you are looking for a strudel.. you won’t be disappointed.
We tried the cherry strudel and it was incredible. I would definitely recommend.
You can even see them making the strudel from scratch in the main dining area so it’s pretty cool.

Also, although we didn’t try the rest of the food it looked amazing on other people tables.

Every time I come to Strudel House, I have the best experience. The place is so cozy and welcoming, the music is always nice and soothing, the food is delicious and everyone in the staff is always so kind. It's become one of my favorite places in Budapest for sure 😍

Strudels are very rich and natural flavor with full fresh fruits.

The goulash was okayish, lamb shank had nice flavor, the apple strudel was the best but overall our waiter was awesome his name was GERGO

Excellent restaurant! Great service, delicious food. You should defo try both the savoury and sweet strudels. Quality is top! It is a bit expensive but worth it.

Excellent place to have lunch/dinner or even to have a nice strudel with coffee.
We tried 1st day and then we repeat twice. Atmosphere is very nice and employees are very friendly (they even charged our mobiles).
We have the famous cheese soup and duck: Wonderful, very tasty. Absolutely you must try! Check the photos!

We just dropped in for some strudels. They are divine, sweet but not to sweet, filling was amazing, pastry was crunchy, just amazing!

Great location for outdoor dining and authentic Hungarian cuisine. We enjoyed a variety of meat and seafood dishes cooked to perfection. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, too.

this restaurant is absolutely magical, not only do we feel good inside when we enter but we also enjoy the dishes offered to us, it is an experience that I recommend if you come to visit Budapest.

Christmas Day dinner. The restaurant was very busy. Staff was efficient and friendly. The food was delicious. Prices were a little high but very reasonable. I did not have a reservation, but luckily, I was able to be seated immediately. The decor is charming. I was lucky to be seated directly in front of the pastry chef where he was preparing strudel. It was amazing to watch him work. He made it look incredibly easy, the sign of a true expert. I was a solo diner, but never made to feel less important. If you have a group of 3 or more or want a back table for conversation or privacy I would suggest making reservations.
