Our last night in Budapest we had dinner up on the hill in the Buda Castle district. There we found the Alabardos Etterem. The setting, the staff and food was amazing. There are several 4 and 5 course meals to choose from. All of which are prepared by amazing chefs. They were continually sending out different items for us to sample. One better than the other. Their wine Sommelier was very knowledgeable and served us some excellent Hungarian region wines. I can not say enough about this amazing restaurant.

Nice fine dining, plenty of attention, on the pricey side though.

Oh. My. We were at the Fisherman's Bastion and decided to find a nearby restaurant. Alabardos was very close and had good reviews. Even though we had no reservation (and were, frankly, quite scruffy from a hot afternoon of sightseeing), we were welcomed in by lovely staff who explained the menu. Every dish we had was exquisite, beautifully balanced flavours, and delicious. We had a fantastic dining experience, and all the staff were so friendly and attentive. It made for a very special evening, and we would thoroughly recommend a visit!

Fantastic fine dining restaurant. The food is superb, the flavours well married, the presentation faultless, the service attentive but not intrusive and the setting is lovely. An incredible place. Of course it's not cheap but still good value for fine dining of this standing.

This place was amazing. Very upscale and only offering 3 prixe fix style 4-5 course meals, we accidentally happened inside after touristing all day. We were treated wonderfully without judgement in our north face casual wear and ordered only a main course and dessert each. The service was impeccable! They still brought us little tastes and we dined to a 5-course meal anyway! Highly recommend! Best service in all of Europe - we will surely return and def get a 5-course, it is highly affordable comparatively and we regretted not springing the money to fully explore and enjoy the menu!!

A very nice mix of Hungarian produce and gastronomy, and inspiration from the modern (Nordic?) take on preparation.

Excellent, personal service and the wines chosen by the sommerlier were well suited for the courses and quite reasonably priced.

Very “shape” excution of every course, and a focus on the details, became me very well (being a chef myself).

One could say that the first night in a new city after long flights and airline food that any meal is great. This was borderline superb as the only complaint was the entree could have been hotter and a second piece of wild boar would have more readily balanced the two pieces of venison. Excellent service. Great recommendations on the wines. A comfortable (formal but not stuffy) atmosphere.

Excellent service, exquisite food, both in taste and presentation. Fabulous Hungarian wines, 6 course tasting menu with one glass white wine, one glass dessert wine, water, and service charge came in at around €100

This was a place with best food I had while in Budapest. Duck leg was to die for, there was a number of funky and free amuse boushes. As I was on limited business budget, I told waiters we would be having simple and small dinner, and they were awesome. Really amazing service. It was completely non-awkward situation, and we managed to squick under $CAD50 per person before ser ice charve of 15% considering restaurant is in a very expensive area otherwise, and great quality, I thought it was very reasonably priced. I regret not going there once again during the visit, which I was joking with waiters I'do do, come in there every night. Should have done it :) ...

This place is amazing! Not cheap but ohhh sooo worth it. It's a degustation menu so be prepared for that. Three menu choices which each have between 4 and 6 courses and change each season. Service was above excellent, presentation was beautiful. We plan to return on our next visit to Budapest.

Really exquisit fine dining, great wine selection and super friendly staff! You are eating from 60 year old Hungarian Porzellan and with silver cutlery. Roger Moore and some other celebrities are here as well.

This restaurant is more expensive than any other Hungarian restaurant but, it was worth it. Had the chef's surprise course menu and it was very very memorable fine dining experience.

The Alabárdos in Budapest is listed in the Michelin Guide with no stars but three forks. The service is really great and so are the dishes.

A 3 course menu (including water, wine, bread and an Amuse-Gueule) did cost 17000 HUF (~ 55 EUR). But it was really worth it. I got some duck breast and leg, with carrot-orange sauce which was flambéed. The starter was some asparagus-cream soup and the dessert was some cake with wild berries. Really great.

The restaurant is located in the old castle in Budapest. You can choose to sit inside of two buildings which have historic-ish interieur or outside under the trees. As we were there in spring, we have chosen to sit outside.

Awesome! I tried it all from the hotel restaurant (Hilton - not bad) to local fare ("M. Restaurant" - pretty good if you don't order the "bone marrow"!), but knowing what I know now I would have eaten there every night!
