Grumpy Food Bar Coffee

Loveliest brunch place we’ve been to in Budapest! Staff was so friendly and very nice. We had the salmon pancakes and the bacon and eggs, and the portions were very big. Best bacon I’ve ever tasted. The coffee is good and the tea is really good also, they have lots of different kinds. Very nicely decorated and just a nice, cozy place.

We went twice and had a great time. The staff is really friendly and welcoming, and it even feels genuine too.

We really enjoyed our food both times and the pink doughnut was a welcome dessert. The coffee and matcha latte was also enjoyable.

Furthermore it is just a fun place to go too. The theme, workers and small size work together well.

Either go early or reserve, it fills up quite easily.

All in all it was the best breakfast place we came across in Budapest.

The open kitchen got a bit smelly/breathtaking at some point but the windows were opened before I even managed to complain to my partner, let alone the staff. But perhaps good to keep in mind if you are short of breath.

Absolute joy of a brunch. We stumbled across this place and changed our plans to pop in.

The food was exceptional. We ordered the big boy breakfast and pancakes. I am always a bit hesitant ordering an “english style” breakfast but this was exceptional. Bacon soft yet crispy. Punchy mustard in its own pot for those who don’t like it. Each bite from the plate was delicious.

The pancakes with fruit are perfect. So good you want to eat more.

As we left, the chef came over to chat with us. Really good vibes.

Went to this place twice during our short stay in Budapest. Food was great and staff are really friendly and make you feel welcome. Best breakfast place in Budapest!

Grumpy is a very nice place. They have a few tables for eating inside where we had breakfast two times.

The vegetarian tomato-mozarella panini with salad was excellent. Also the pesto fried eggs is very good.

Without a doubt, this place offers the best brunch experience in Budapest. The ambiance is delightful, and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. As for the food, it’s simply outstanding. I was practically in brunch heaven with every bite. I’d definitely come back for more

Amazing food, lovely service. The most welcoming place in Budapest. We have been twice and have had the Big Boy breakfast and the pancakes and both were just amazing. The bacon is just perfect. Their mojitos are beautiful. I would definitely recommend visiting when in Budapest.

If you are in Budapest, please make sure you come here for breakfast. Amazing people working here, great vibe. Coffee was one of the best in the city and food is just delicious!

Excellent service, which to me is the most important aspect. This was a very busy cafe in a relatively unassuming side street. They’ve decorated for the Christmas season and it is an incredibly warm and inviting place. They gave customers free drinks when their orders were delayed, and offered extra eggs if the egg was overcooked.

As recommended by a dearest friend, I would like to confirm the excellence of Grumpy Cafe in Budapest! The service is exceptional, the food is simply amazing and the atmosphere is everything you could wish for. The biggest star however is the owner of the place which is also the main Chef. It's always nice and cool when the owner is actually working at the restaurant and seeing the process firsthand. We are overwhelmed by the personal care and attention we received during our 2 brunches at Grumpy. Couldn't recommend it enough!

We visited this place in the weekends. The staff are very nice, kind and friendly. We had some good moments. We ordered pancakes and croissant and café latte and all of them were really good. They have a small outdoor space just two tables and lots of indoor space in the first floor and the second floor. Also, they have a free laptop zone and you can use your laptop in a good space. they decorated the food very well and served nicely.

Must go for brunch, they have a lot of vegan/vegetarian options and really tasty food. They were a bit delayed in serving our food and gave us complimentary hot chocolate even though we asked for no complimentary dishes they removed it from our bill later :). The staff is really happy and cheerful and they really love what they do!

I thought this place looked good from the cool sign. Going back the next day I was glad of ggdt decision. I loved it, the staff were so friendly, the coffee tasty and I even sampled some Hungarian Christmas cake. Definitely recommended, and the brunch / lunch choices look delicious.

Best place for a brunch, if you prefer cosy places with good music. Highly recommend you the “for big boys” and pancakes as well. By the way cocktails are perfect. 🍓💗

Such a sweet and cozy place for food and drinks. The owner (and chef) was such a ray of sunshine and she made sure we had the best experience. The staff were very friendly and the space was well decorated. The food was also incredible, fresh and tasty. Would return in a heartbeat next time I’m in Budapest!

I'm not sure where to start with reviewing this cafe, we just absolutely loved it. The service was so incredibly friendly and attentive and the food was gorgeous. The vibe of the cafe is impeccable, love the red threads you can tie around the cafe. Recommend the iced latte and big boy breakfast! Very welcoming to everyone!

Absolutely lovely little breakfast place, loved the energy of the chef. The space is really cozy with truly open kitchen, the staff was very friendly and helpful.
