The Serbian Orthodox church built in the 19th century fits very nicely in the local architecture. The church is open every day and the entrance is free of charge.

I initially noticed the Church of the Annunciation whilst on a walking tour of the city, but was almost entirely distracted by the array of stray cats that appear to have made their home in its immediate vicinity. On my return visit, I ensured that I was copiously armed with cat treats, but found that I was swiftly admonished by a church official when I attempted to feed them within the small courtyard! Thankfully, just a few moments later, all of the cats leapt down into the adjacent thoroughfare as a wonderful elderly lady appeared with a bag full of cat supplies ... including wet food and fresh water ... They are clearly loved here, at least by some! 😺The church itself is well worth a few minutes of contemplation, replete with sacred icons, as one would expect. There is a particularly striking painting of the Annunciation, to the right hand side of the iconostasis, which shows a female archangel informing Mary that she is to become the most important woman in history. Mural of Last Supper above the screen, Judas, of course, seen with his back against the group.

Nestled in the back streets of old town Dubrovnik you'll likely stumble across this when exploring. One of the first things you'll probably notice is the large amount of cats lying around. They seem to congregate around the church, perhaps because they know they won't be distributed here.

The church itself was very pretty, with striking blues at the back of the church. I'd recommend popping in and having a look if you are in the area.

One of the most beautiful places in Dubrovnik!

Pretty orthodox church that is calm and chilly. We came in with my young son who fell asleep in my arms. We stayed there for me than twenty minutes so we could all rest. A peaceful moment.

Beautiful Serbian Orthodox Christianity church with a very good souvenir shop where you can buy real handpainted icons in the egg yolks tempera technique which is the oldest technique and gilded in real pure gold...very precious. Love it!

Beautiful church, too bad that the people who established this church and Dubrovnik hundreds of years ago were first forced to take Catholicism, then were destroyed in the most inhumane way by the fascists, and finally ethnically cleansed in early 90s.

For hundreds of years, Dubrovnik pact with Rome that they will never allow churches from any religion, but the Catholic.
Thank god that they ended up being more open minded on that topic, because the church is simply gorgeous. from the inside and outside.
And I'm not even a religious person.

The Church of Holy Annunciation is located in the Old Town of Dubrovnik and a must visit if you have the chance. There were a lot of cats in front of the big gates and that caught my attention, but as soon as I stepped inside, I was completely blown away by its beauty and history.

In the centre of the old town, built in the middle of 19.st, Christian ortodox church of Dubrovnik is very special, pure and spiritual...when you visit, lit a candle for someone...up for living and down for dead souls...

An impressive and important sacral place and monument of Serbian heritage and continuity in Dubrovnik.

Well worth visiting, Orthodox Church beautiful interior, though photography not allowed inside.

Music&More Summerfest in the church was pure enjoyment. Bravo!
