I’ve visited this pub three times now and have stayed overnight twice. The menu is fabulous and the pub is beautiful - cosy and romantic. The rooms are clean, well decorated and the beds comfortable.

Where could things be better? The breakfast used to be the best I’d ever eaten… black pudding, well cooked, generous portion etc. It’s still good but it’s not what it once was. The rooms can be quite loud - door alarms going off, noisy neighbours etc.

However, I’m nit picking, it’s still one of my fave pubs and places to stay.

A superb overnight stay with dinner and breakfast. From the moment we arrived until we left everything was fantastic. Genuine welcome, excellent service from all the staff. Superb food and drinks and outstanding accommodation. We will certainly go back again.

Been here a few times for special occasions. Unfortunately, we find the Garden Room quite cold, not good in the winter although there are heaters & blankets, the atmosphere isn't as nice as inside the pub/restaurant. Cannot fault the staff. Very attentive and polite.

Visited on a friends recommendation and enjoyed a wonderful and indulgent late lunch. The filet steak served on rösti, prepared medium rare was one of the best I’ve tasted in a pub. Scallops and the ham hock terrine starters were excellent too. Wine pairing recommendations were spot on, as was the Macon pairing with the cheese course. Definitely worth a return visit.
£150 for 2.

My husband and I haven't been to the Duncombe Arms for a few years as it is a bit of a trek for us!! However today we made the trek, taking friends as a thank you present! What can I say, I always remember this pub being great but it clearly is just getting better and better!! The service was wonderful, friendly and very efficient but the food, oh my goodness, just amazing....presentation, flavours..... we could have been in a top end restaurant in London!!! We won't leave it as long to return next time, maybe we will treat ourselves to staying the night too!

We were staying at the Alton Towers hotel and were looking for somewhere nice to eat (outside of the hotel).
We had such a fantastic experience here. The service was fabulous & the food absolutely delicious.
Not cheap - but worth every penny.
If we’re ever in the area again, we will definitely be back.
Thank you.

Exceptional but friendly service, food was incredible, great wines by the glass, room was spotless and beautifully done and they took extra care with my food allergies to ensure I could relax fully. Thank you for a great anniversary trip

Great food and service. Maybe the dessert menu could have more items on it although the cheese menu is extensive. The service was excellent and non-intrusive.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay in the ‘flying ducks’ room! The room is beautiful, bed comfortable and decor stylish, we only wish we had a little longer in there!

We went for a meal in the restaurant in the evening, the food was absolutely incredible! Each course was super tasty and the drinks were just as good. The bar man (blonde hair) made one of the best mojitos I’ve ever had! The wine list is also extensive and so plenty of choice.

The breakfast the next morning was also really nice with just the right amount of options and really tasty!

From start to finish we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, thank you for a lovely stay!

Amazing food. Impromptu visit in the way back from Peak Wildlife Park. Best food I have tasted for a long time. Very posh place. Not cheap but worth it for a treat out. Service is fantastic . Fresh local produce used. Highly recommend the bacon jam!

We stayed 1 night as we played at JCB Golf course. Really great little pub with great restaurant and equally good hotel rooms, all with Bamford Spa products 👍👍

An absolute gem. Despite not having a reservation for lunch on an obviously very busy day, we were very warmly welcomed and accommodated at a suitable table.
The food was worth every penny. Yes, some of the menu may be more expensive than some are used to paying but the quality of ingredients, service and surroundings easily made it worthwhile.
We loved the relaxed vibe from the experienced, knowledgeable and professional staff.
For those with limited mobility there is a ramp from the carpark to the bar and also a separate one for the restaurant.
Even if you have to make a big detour, do try out this restaurant. We can't wait to go back, but 5 hours plus drive each way means we may have to wait a while.

We called into this venue without booking in advance and were made to feel very welcome. The pub / restaurant is extremely well decorated and the food is obviously very good ingredients and extremely well cooked. It was extremely tasty. It is also dog friendly. Would highly recommend.

Exceptionally good hotel rooms and really good food. We stopped off here on our way back home from Scotland and had a really relaxing, fun time. The rooms are (as the photograph hopefully shows) very well presented and comfortable. The attached pub and restaurant are both really nice and the food whilst very good, was of reasonably good value too. Breakfast was most enjoyable.
