What a superb place. After a wonderful circular walk with the dog we settled in here. Even in the winter we sat in the garden which is full of interesting things to and birds that feed from the table.
Querky fun and the food was amazing.

Absolutely amazing part of the world , we like to go early - beat the busy times , plus the roads leading to it are all single file but it's so worth it when you get there.

What a fantastic restaurant to find when you are walking. The service and the food, nice.
I had a bacon and sausage bun so big and nice.
Good job I have to walk back to the car to burn the calories off. Not parked in the car park next to the restaurant.

A gem of a place! The menu caters for everyone and has lots of different choices from light snacks to full meals. I chose a cream tea with a blueberry scone and it was served with lots of butter, jam and whipped cream. It came with a lovely pot of tea with extra hot water for topping the pot up. The staff were so lovely and friendly. I sat inside but the gardens outside were beautiful with a little waterfall. It had lots of seating including little summerhouses to sit in. Absolutely beautiful place. It has a disabled toilet too.

My husband and myself had a lovely walk along the old railway track and completed it with a visit to this establishment. We both had a sandwich, which came with a side salad and crisps, the food was beautifully presented and tasty, the atmosphere was good, and the service was excellent. The seating area is ample and warm. If you wish to sit outside, there are individual cabins where you can keep warm and dry and are great for people with a dog. There is also an open garden area with little nooks and crannies that can sit in the fresh air. The owners have given a lot of thought and attention to the layout of this place. No dogs are allowed inside. It's a beautiful place to stop for a drink and a bite to eat . In the garden area's there is a hatch for take away food and drink. I recommend it to everyone and I intend to go back again, everything appears to be homemade,: ie, cakes, soup, pie's etc, the facilities are good and they also cater for wheelchairs and allergen sufferers, they have thought of everything, so go and give them a try, you won't be disappointed. From a very satisfied customer.

Great setting with lovely gardens, and little sheds, pagodas, etc to sit outside in.
A conservatory provided seating inside if colder.
Food was great, really nice Sunday roast options, and lots of nice cakes and ice cream.

A lovely little cafe with plenty of seating inside and out. Went for afternoon cake and tea with the family. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cake was fabulous. Would recommend the scones and lemon meringue. The staff even gave my daughter a box to take left overs home. A great place to visit. We will certainly be visiting again

Brilliant stop whilst enjoying the local area or just to visit and enjoy the sights The Ramblers Reyreats grounds have to offer.
We stopped by during a day of walking at a very busy time, the queue moved well, and we were served swiftly.
Delish cake and coffee were thoroughly enjoyed.

Found by accident and a dream place with Alice in Wonderland type vibes. Beautiful gardens, atmospheric Victorian house, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. Many nooks and crannies to eat their sumptuous meals meals from. Highly recommend their out cakes and salads (Hubby loved his ham, egg and chips and yummy ice-cream) Even dog blankets for the pooches to sit on as well as cushions for their owners' seats. Can't praise this place enough! We'll worth the walk!!!

Free parking, child friendly!
Seats outside were amazing!
They feed wild birds which js amazing, the Robins get so close too!
The hot chocolates were better than Costa and Starbucks!
We didn't try the food but it looked and smelt amazing!
Very very good!

Lovely eatery. Ideal for ramblers to go and have a well earned break. Also worth a trip out if you're wanting a meal in different surroundings.
Nestled in a great wooded area and close proximity to Alton Towers.
Has a small snug with only a few tables, but many more in the conservatory. Ideal for large parties to meet up, but book in advance.
Nice selection of meals, snacks, puds and drinks.
Well worth a trip.

A lovely outdoor garden setting. Food was hot and promptly served. We managed to get a little shelter from the rain but we saw several people wiping the tables and seats down I don t know if we missed it but i just thought it would be good customer service for them to do this or at least provide cloths. Just an idea.

Quite busy when I went with 2 friends . We had booked a table . Food is good . I only gave 4* just because it's not a restaurant but we could not complain about the food really . Service was quick and attentive. There was a gentleman playing the guitar on the afternoon we visited , which created a bit of an ambiance . Nice place for a brunch , and would recommend.

Prices for food and drink are on the high side, however the surroundings make it worth the money.
In the summer when you're able to eat in the gardens you have a beautiful area with a variety of shaded and non shaded areas.

Free water refills are available to help yourself which is ideal if you're planning on doing one of the long walks in the area.
Dogs are also welcome and they have water fountains with bowls close by to give your furry friend a drink. (Dogs are only allowed in the outdoor seating areas). Dog ice creams are also available for the warmer days which our dog absolutely adored.

The food can be expensive but the portion sizes make it good value for money. They have an all day brunch menu as well as the lunch menu covering a wide variety of food options. There are also plenty of drinks to choose from and the coffee here is more than decent. They do however lack a children's menu (none existent). They do have specials which do not appear on the paper menu so it's worth taking a look at the blackboard by the order window before deciding.

Staff are friendly, food is tasty and the surroundings are gorgeous.

Went here last weekend whilst celebrating my 40th Birthday . The vegan breakfast was amazing. Good portion and made even better with an oatcake being included 😋. I’ll definitely be back for a visit.

Lovely tea room/café in the middle of a beautiful walking spot. Fantastic location with beautiful gardens and plenty of outside seating. Lots of choice for food and drink and much of it is homemade. The Lemon Meringue is out of this world! Access via car is a little tricky as the roads leading to it are overgrown single lanes with unsighted corners. Drivers do seem to approach slowly and there are plenty of passing spots along the lanes. Parking is free. Can get busy on sunny days. Dogs welcome.

The food here is amazing, the sweet menu is a real treat and the savory selection is all excellent quality too, so whatever you are in the mood for. If you are planning a walk through the area, this would be an excellent place to stop for lunch. Dine inside or out, and you can dine outside regardless of the weather too, as they have a beautifully set up garden, with cover in some areas and lovely little weather proof booths :)

Lovely homemade food, MASSIVE portions! Very beautiful area to walk and visit with the dog. We recently came for the Pumpkin Halloween Night and it was lovely. The staff were very attentive and did great dressing the gardens for Halloween 🎃 the hot diggity dog (hotdog) was yummy, followed by the biggest piece of chocolate fudge cake!

A family favourite

We often visit the Ramblers Retreat when walking in this lovely corner of Staffordshire; it's a fine spot at the foot of Dimmings Dale, with charming walks all around.

We normally sit in the large garden, where the food has always been great and served quickly.

If the car park seems full at lunch time, hang around for 5 or 10 minutes! people come and go. You're in no rush right?

Lovely family run cafe in the middle of some beautiful woodlands. Wonderful to go to during seasonal events such as Christmas! They really do put in so much effort with decorations and the menu was also fantastic!

Quickly becomes fully booked because of how popular it is! Very romantic but also a lovely destination for families, and groups who wish to go walking around after a yummy lunch!
