Love this shop, but haven't been there for a while. My wife bought me this great Devold Thermo Jacket (online) for my birthday. Pretty much the only place in the UK with a decent stock of this excellent Norwegian brand. Website had an upgrade during COVID I think. Looks good.

This is such an amazing, unique and beautiful independent shop in central London and unfortunately and sadly there is not that many establishments like Arthur Beale the Yacht Chandlers.

Arthur Beale also stock and sell almost everything and anything that I can possibly think of and most items have been incredibly useful throughout the years. And it’s always worth having a look at their website from time to time.

More importantly, the staff at Arthur Beale are quite knowledge indeed which is what I’d like to see.

As it was mentioned on the ITV London News, Arthur Beale will be closing down their unique shop on Shaftesbury Avenue and so as of Thursday, 24th June 2021 will mark the end of an era for Arthur Beale and this yacht chandlery business will be moving to an online store permanently.

However, Arthur Beale Yacht Chandlers do have plans to reopen a pop-up shop this Christmas 2021

And yes, needless for me to even mention it, but I am going to miss Arthur Beale Yacht Chandlers immensely and I have been a customer at Arthur Beale since March-April 1992 (the pre-internet days)

I bought the Arthur Beale Submariner jumper, in the Light Welsh Grey colour.
Well what a jumper, super comfortable to wear, not itchy or scratchy at all, which I was surprised at as it is 100% wool!!
The quality of the jumper is also top notch, reassuringly heavy weight and super warm!!
The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was extremely helpful with sizing advice and very knowledgeable about all the products they have to offer!!
I also bought the Arctic socks they have, super toasty and comfortable bits of kit!!!
Thanks guys, I'll be back!!!
Rob.

Wanted to purchase something online that was not in stock, the customer service was amazing. They were quick to respond and created a custom order for me. Delivery was fast and items good quality, will definitely buy from here again.

Sadly no more in Covent Garden after serving so many for soong; except online, the destruction of London continues. I managed to buy an excellent French raincoat for half price...thanks guys.

Bought the erabus jumper. Other half got the standard turtle neck one. Both Stella jumpers. Will last a very long long time. Smell great and feel dense and hardy. Fit perfectly. Highly recommend buying one. Price is worth it.

Probably the friendliest, most welcoming and helpful shop I have ever been into.

I only popped in to buy some rope to practice tying knots, so a very small purchase indeed but I still got first class helpful service from the staff.

I will definitely be going back.

Thank you.

Live in or visiting London, then this is a must go to shop whether you are into boating/sailing. It's London history is awesome some of the worlds most famous people in history have shopped here including Captain Scott. Today the welcome is warm and friendly, the knowledge of it's staff is unbelievable and in store stock is brilliant. They also offer course's in rope and knots.
Simply outstanding.

Lovely shop with quality jumpers, raincoats, hats, shoes (among others) for the whole family. We had a fantastic time at their Christmas event. Staff was very welcoming and we were treated to free mulled wine, mince pies, hot chocolate and animated movie screening. My daughter wants to go back already!

Just discovered this offbeat wonderful slice of old London is closing. If you have a chance go and purchase items from this historic establishment, please do so.
Hoping for a brighter future for them and their incredibly warm and helpful staff.
It's a mad shop and one that will be greatly missed when vacated.

Excellent service and product. The clothes wear is amazing quality and well priced. I highly recommend their products and am sorry to see the closure of this iconic shop. I am only too pleased to hear that it will still be possible to purchase online.

I love this shop. I was visiting from the States and was able to buy an authentic Guernsey jumper made by Le Tricoteur. They have a load of other high quality woolen jumpers. They sell only the best. The young man that served us was helpful and patient with us. Just go upstairs and you will find a jumper that will last a lifetime.

I must admit, I knew nothing of this shop until I happened upon it walking to the museum. I couldn't even tell what they sold, but the steet facing window was so magical I just had to stop in. WOW! I was immediately greeted by the staff and asked by several different staff members if I needed any assistance. I didn't need nor did I buy anything from the shop but they were still pleasant and I was taken by the selection of hardware, clothes, and ropes. The whole shop is riot of texture and color all wrapped in a several hundred year old newspaper. All in all it was a magical 30 minutes spent browsing their wares and an unexpected find in the heart of London.

Top of the range wonderful marine shop - this place has provenance. Right there on Shaftesbury Ave on the edge of covent garden, 2 floors full to the gunnels of anything you need for boats. This place is full of love, and expertise.. A wide range of stock that starts from good to top of the range. Laid out to fascinate - even a non boating person like me was hooked! Extraordinary friendliness and fun - looking to purchase the right rope for our yoga rope wall we were taken downstairs to:the rope room - awe inspiring - a bit of old London, where craft meets aesthetics. A must visit even if only to purchase some of their beautiful natural colour twine.

Remarkable shop - trading for over 100 years this ships chandler is a long way from water, in the heart of covent garden. Even if you don't think you have any use for ships goods they are excellent for ropes and wire and attendant fastenings. I bought some excellent marine multi core wire there when rigging up a squirrel proof bird feeder. Incredibly knowledgeable service.

An almost Dickensian little shop full of chandlery. I have been aware of it for decades but I think I was always a bit too scared to go in in the past, but rope is their business and I needed to talk rope so.....
Very friendly, highly knowledgeable and the prices are good. One up to an old style shop!

An oasis of classic chandlery. A real gem for those of us with a traditional sailing orientation. Always very friendly and helpful staff happy to let you browse. Great book selection. Definitely worth a visit.

The Shaftesbury Avenue shop was a great place to browse for nautical knick-knacks and necessities but it's now moving online to weather the pandemic. But they plan to pop-up at Christmas so get on their mailing list to track their voyage.

So sad to hear this shop will be closing for good, even though the business will continue online. I’ve used them for all sorts of sailing bits and pieces over the last five years, will have to pay them one final visit if I can.
