Great place for a family get together. We had a fabulous time, brilliant walks and views and brilliant food. Special thanks to Dylan in the Cast Iron Grill for making our last breakfast so fabulous, he went above and beyond with his colleagues to make sure our party was well catered for. Just the break we needed!

Stayed here a couple of times. Had a very long drive to Alton Towers and decided to break up the journey by staying there and travelling the last part in the morning. It was great, the building itself is beautiful with lovely gardens. Breakfast is great too with lovely views from the dining room. Excellent facilities.

It had been a lovely and memorable experience for our family who came to spend our marriage anniversary and birthday of our son here. Much appreciated gesture by personalising the occasions with cake and drink especially by Stacy and Nichole at the reception… 3 cheers to the lovely ladies 🤗
Will come again and highly recommend the hospitality and hotel environment.. thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I wanted to write an email to the cast iron restaurant and hotel manager however I found it difficult to find a suitable email address so I have written this review instead:

We had a fantastic waiter on Friday night the 17th of November.
'Laura', was probably the best waiter we have ever had and we are well traveled . Absolutely outstanding!
Totally professional, engaging, lovely, intelligent and talented at her job.
Laura is such an asset to your team. Well done.

A lovely overnight trip a spa day
A beautiful hotel in glorious surroundings
Amenities excellent
Rooms large and beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean
Spa facilities are lovely
Pool area well maintained and again spotlessly clean
Staff excellent very polite and couldn't have been more helpful
Food in the restaurant lovely we had an evening meal and breakfast which was plentiful and a wide variety of choices

I only live 10 minutes away but have never been here before. I came on a work trip which start with lunch and the food variety and quality was fantastic 👌 we had snacks during a meeting break which were delicious and plenty of drinks available. Lovely location and place, would definitely recommend.

Despite terrible weather for a couple of weeks beforehand, we got two decent rounds of golf and the hotel was very good. Comfortable room and great food for breakfast and tea.

We have been here with my wife for a weekend night b&b and spa day for my birthday.

We had a great experience!

Gym well equipped with a cardio and weightlifting room.

Sauna, steam room big enough for 6 people at the same time. Big pool and decent jacuzzi.

Everything was clean and really accessible.

Service in the restaurant could be improved but I would give a solid 8/10. Staff really kind and helpful.

They give us the option to stay for the day, after check out, in the spa/leisure centre. That if you think about is an extra spa day free of charge.

I would really recommend if you are looking for a relaxing day out in the middle of the nature in this beautiful location.

Only popped in for the golf. Experienced the best egg, sausage and bacon cob. It has held together with a butter toasted muffin. Cook to perfection, I'll be telling my grandchildren about it. 10/10 would recommend Kish, Aaron and Basil.

Went for a wedding but didnt stay. Family did and said very nice rooms. Drinks expensive, a small sparkling wine and a pepsi was £15 😮. But g&t and rum and coke was £12 🙄. Staff very helpful and all we met were very friendly. Lovely place, driven golf buggies available for elderly that could not walk to reception area. Buffet bbq was very good and lots of it.

An absolute amazing weekend of golf at this stunning place,the 2 courses were amazing and a real challenge but in beautiful surroundings and personally I loved the challenge of the courses.
The hotel was beautiful with lovely rooms and the food was really nice. Our group of 16 all agreed the whole experience was fantastic.
Also have to give a big shout out to the events team in helping me with ease and professionalism with my booking as had few issues with 3rd party but they went above and beyond so thank you.

We stayed in a suite as it was a valentines treat. We had three nights. The room was good, comfortable and a nice size, although looked a little tired in places. Staff were so friendly and helpful and made check-in a smooth process. We ate in the hotel restaurant twice for evening meal, good choice on menu and food tasty. Breakfast was amazing, lots of choice and catered well for me as I am lactose intolerant. We will definitely be returning to stay.

I was looking at Mariott Hotels for a weekend getaway. I pick this hotel only because it's an old building with lots of features from the past and a great view. We aren't golfers, but I can see that the golf course looks amazing.
The grounds are great. Beautiful landscapes with a variety of plants. I appreciated that the hotel is making efforts towards sustainability.
I would still recommend removing single use plastic completely. Put dispensers into the bathrooms.

Beautiful hotel. There were 4 of us that stopped the night on 4th Aug as we were visiting derby for the day. The hotel was excellent, really clean, the lady on reception was super helpful and very welcoming. No faults whatsoever.

Lovely setting and a beautiful building with outstanding facilities, gym, pool, jacuzzi, and golf. Helipad if you fancy taking your helicopter out for a round of golf. Gardens are a delightful walk. Only let down was the closure of the main restaurant but once the refurbishment is completed we’d come back. Staff are excellent. Love how you can use your phone as a door key for your room. Wife made good use of the beauty spa and there is a hairdressers on site. Wi-Fi also on site.

Really nice hotel with an excellent pool and restaurant- staff were just exceptional!

My husband and i came here today for afternoon tea, we brought his mum for a little treat... The afternoon tea was delicious 😋 one of the best we've had and we've had a fair few! 👌 the service was impeccable, the young woman who looked after us was very attentive and professional and regularly asked if we needed anything else, the teapots were refreshed upon request and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing... a thoroughly pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. The setting here is also wonderful very well maintained grounds adding to the experience... all in all faultless!

Warm and comfortable stay for a family of four

stayed in room 261 which was a good size with Bed and sofa bed for the kids, a large TV and fridge

cannot comment on the restaurant as we did not dine but the breakfast was great, lots of good items and plenty of it. just what you would expect in a Marriot

The gym had all the equipment you would need for a sufficient work out on the road and opening hours are great for visitors of all times, the swimming pool was nice my only critiscm here is there are a few roof panels missing from the ceiling that takes the shine of it.

A lot of golf visitors as the site has a golf course onsite, a few where obnoxious but this is of no fault to the hotel and the majority seemed friendly.

We will return for a stay in the future I believe

Family weekend, with a mobility restricted adult and a picky teenager. The welcome was warm and professional- we needed a room that was easy to get to with a person of limited mobility and our requirements had been understood and addressed.

The sprawling site was a little off putting but the hotel thoughtfully arranged a golf buggy (and driver) to help ferry the less mobile member of the group around and were responsive when asked at 10 mins notice when we needed to get around.

The staff are friendly and engaging, the food is very nice and the menu was varied.

The pool is a nice size and well maintained with decent changing rooms and pleasant staff.

Wifi is fine and easy to access.

None of us are golfers , but the golfers seemed happy enough... so if that's your thing I'd say go for it.

Special mention to Charlotte who was an absolute gem!

We booked a spa day overall it was a nice relaxed day. We had the inclusive breakfast buffet and the lunch. We had treatments booked together, the full body massage was great. The gym and wet areas were good unfortunately the hot tub went out of order while we were there so we were not able to use it for long. The atmosphere and history of the building was really nice and a great experience.
