The members of staff that stood out by showing an emphatic, non-judgemental approach and professionalism were the brilliant physio therapist Rashmeet, who managed my post op rehab and the lovely polish ward nurse whose name I, unfortunately, forgot. My surgeon proved to be a a great guy, who is brilliant in his field of work.

“ It’s a Centre of Excellence and they are getting through otherwise fit people like yourself very rapidly.” So spoke the Orthopaedic Interface Physio I was lucky enough to see at Bideford Hospital. And so it was, Shepton Mallet is outstanding in every way. If you have any reservations about having surgery under local rather than general anaesthesia I can wholeheartedly reassure you that it’s nothing to fear and is superb. Without the recovery time from a General Anaesthetic, I was totally ready for discharge 24 hours post op; from previous experience I was very sceptical that I would be ok, but I absolutely was! Every aspect of my experience at Shepton Mallet was of the highest possible standard, the staff, whatever their role in the team work that has given me back my mobility, were highly skilled and compassionate, the attention to detail that I as a patient experienced exemplary. I had heard of several people who had been treated there, in the weeks leading up to admission; without exception they spoke of the quality of treatment in the highest possible way. I have now joined them, ten days post surgery I am delighted to say I’m a rapidly recovering Shepton Mallet Super Fan! THANKYOU all so very much.🙏🏼

Chose to travel here from Plymouth to have total hip replacement surgery.
Much shorter waiting list than Plymouth hospitals. Shepton Mallet Treatment Centre also score outstanding in all categories.
They allowed me to be admmited the night before surgery to save an extra trip up for a pre surgery blood test.
I was on a 2 bed ward with ensuite bathroom and a beautiful veiw of the surrounding countryside.
You will need sat nav to find it though! as its tucked away behind a residential housing area.
Its about 2 hour trip back to Plymouth and the trip back home was a little uncomfortable, but the very short waiting list for hip replacement surgery far outways this!

I’ve had multiple knee operations and the care here is out of this world, ranging from a warm blanket, nurses humouring my big man recovery questions and a surgeon who throughly explained the ins and outs of my operation. Real human touch from everybody and touchwood I don’t need another operation but if I do, I’ll be returning here without a doubt.

My second total knee replacement here, self funded first time and NHS just completed. I cannot praise every member of staff highly enough. The care and expertise shown is truly magnificent. Hard not been to this establishment before and took a friend it did seem to take rather a long time although it was by appointment it took over an hour and a half after his appointed time before he was called in but it's a clean and seems well-run place

I would just like to say a very big thank you to everyone at Shepton Mallet Practice Plus Group Hospital, from the receptionist who welcomes you with a smile and puts you at ease, the nurses who chat to you and make you feel special before your operation letting you know you’re in very safe hands, the surgery staff and doctors who operate and care for you during the operation.

The after care quality has just been excellent, a nurse called me the day after I got home to make sure I was ok and didn’t need anything, the Physio staff making sure I’m recovering well, everyone at this hospital is 110% dedicated to caring for the patient to make sure you make a full recovery as fast as possible, thank you ever so much.

I had a Partial Knee Replace at this hospital on the NHS. From start to finish my treatment by all was amazing. I cannot praise the care I had enough. The nurses are so friendly and caring. The hospital was very clean. A good choice of food.
Highly recommend.

SMTC has exceeded all expectations, the best treatment, best environment, good food, kind and attentive staff, anaesthetist and surgeon professional and supportive. I’m 2 weeks post TKR and made a good recovery and got the neatest scar

I recently had a total knee replacement operation at shepton mallett hospital, and there are not enough words to describe what an amazing place it is.
Everyone I came into contact with from the beginning of my referral has been so positive, I was very nervous about the surgery and everyone I spoke to put my mind at rest with so much care and compassion, I cannot thank you all enough you are all angels.

Just had my left knee replaced here the care I got was excellent. The staff were very professional in their work kind and caring. I would like to say a special thanks to nurse's Mary and Julie for the way they looked after me. I would highly recommend 👌 this hospital.

I had complete right hip replacement at the hospital in September 2021. The clinical and nursing teams were excellent. I was literally in one day and out the next. I was a NHS patient and treated the same as the private patients. The food was great!

Now eight months after the operation.
I was very diligent with the exercises I was given to do which helped greatly in having a speedy recovery. I also acquired an upright static bike which was a great benefit in recovering muscle wastage and flexibility.
You also learn to adapt by using equipment like a long shoe horn.
It is great being able to do long walks again.

I can't praise the staff highly enough having had a hip replacement just 6 weeks ago I feel like a new man!!!
