Wye Valley Canoes

Had the best weekend along the Wye using the Wye Valley Canoes service. We were looked after from start to finish and had everything we needed for a nice relaxing trip. We were given all the equipment to keep ourselves safe and our belongings dry, and a map to tell us where to stop off and what to do at certain points to keep us on track. Thanks so much, will be back in the future!

So easy to book and to find! Lovely location and the venue itself that you leave from is really well decorated and looked after. The staff were so friendly and I really made sure you knew what you were doing. Directions, route and the kit we were given were spot on. Pick up was super easy and quick!

We spent the day Canoeing with Wye Valley Canoes and had a great time! We upgraded on the day from the half day to full day which I highly recommend! Everyone we met from the team were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Josh and Casper. Thanks Guys and look forward to coming back very soon!

Our Lads' group had an amazing time canoeing in the Wye Valley! The combination of stunning scenery, friendly staff, and great equipment really made for a memorable experience. Canoeing was such a fantastic way to explore nature and unwind. Ryan the owner was incredibly helpful and provided safety and wider guidance.

It was a perfect way to let go of the stresses of everyday life. Plus, being able to soak in the peaceful atmosphere of the Wye Valley was truly rejuvenating. Thank you Ryan for an amazing day. Fully recommend to everyone.

Booked 3 canoes for 6 people for the 2 day adventure. Organisation over the phone was great, always good to speak to people. We turned up on pick up day to a very understanding and organised drop off, canoe pick up and briefing. Got reminders of obstacles and updates with Josh turning up at Hay to remind us. Very safety conscious in a friendly way. All the advice on the stops and stays worked brilliantly. Second day set off went like clockwork, getting good at this by then, and the sun was still shining. Great day to By cross farm without seeing any other canoers, blissfully peaceful and so many birds to watch. Pick up and return to the start by Ryan went like clockwork and super hard working. Great experience, will do another section of the Wye soon. Gary

What a day! There were 9 of us plus a dog (three of those being children all under 10!) and we have the most unbelievable time on the River Wye. The whole team of staff were friendly, helpful and fun which just made the whole experience even better. It was all so easy and the lift back to our car after two hours canoeing was just brilliant. We saw Kingfishers, Buzzards, Swans, Herons, heard the cuckoo and so much more! We will be back! Thanks so much! The Buescher Family! X

Great fun! 5 of us went with ages ranging from 6 to 60's. Staff were friendly and helpful, with instruction given prior to setting off. All but one of us was a novice............haven't laughed so much for a long time. Would definitely do it again!

Josh, and the team at Wye Valley Canoes, provided us with an outstanding experience. We hired two open canoes for a two-day trip down the Wye. The whole service was impeccable, from the initial contact and subsequent comms, right through to picking us up at the end and getting us back to our cars. The equipment was first class and the maps and guiding instructions were just right - enough detail to enable us to be prepared without overdoing it. We had an amazing couple of days. The whole event couldn't have been any smoother and Wye Valley Canoes definitely comes highly recommended from me and my group. Thanks Guys! :-)

What a perfect family day
We took our two children 11 & 14 years on the full day experience Glasbury to Whitney (11 miles). Booking was simple and value for money. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable giving us top tips to get the most out of our day. Such as wildlife to look out for and where on the river to spot it. More practical advice was given too such as up-to-date knowledge of where trees were down and which side of the river to be on to avoid running into issues.

The team at Wye Valley Canoes clearly know and love the river, which made it easy for us to confidently give our family the perfect day out. Especially as we have children that all look for different types of activities, this was something we all enjoyed.

We are looking forward to returning.

Had a morning trip out today, had a great time. Due to the recent rain the river Wye was too high to go on so they arranged for a paddle down the Brecon-Monmouth canal, which was a lovely trip. The staff were great and when we reached our destination they were happy to wait whilst we recovered in the pub with a pint. Great comms before and during our trip, thanks all for a great day. Thoroughly recommended!

Amazing experience on the tranquil Wye River. Popped to the bean cafe in Hay-on-Wye first and bumped into Josh, the owner of Wye Valley canoes. He was so friendly and helpful. Great advice regarding the route. We have a little experience but I would say if you have no experience you will be fine.
Enjoyed bobbing along letting the gentle current do a lot the work.
Already thinking about a longer trip next time....

We canoed along the Monmouthshire & Brecon canal as the River Wye was too dangerous for to heavy rain. Beautiful views along the canal and very rural. The team were very friendly and helpful and gave us some useful tips.

Really enjoyable afternoon on the River Wye thanks to these guys. We literally called at late morning and were in the boat early afternoon. Very accommodating and well organised.
They provided all necessary equipment and had us on put away after a quick brief and met us at the meeting point at the end.
Tip: at the end... it is definitely the concrete landing after bridge where you need to get to - not the pebble beach in distance lol.

Just got back from a glorious weekend canoeing by day and enjoying the bunkhouse by night. The guys at WVC are a delight and we had a really great time on the water taking in the splendour of the local area. Can’t recommend enough

What a great day, upon arrival you have an outside meet and greet by the safe, very very professional team,Covid distancing was at the fore front. Great to see, they brief you up and you are issued with clean equipment that only you touch. You are watched as you enter the kayak and you have to do a loop of the water so they can assess your ability. I phoned and few days earlier and booked it as they get busy. We paddled to the boat pub about 3.5 hours down stream. You phone them and a very polite lady arrived and she takes you back to the start, my Daughter and I had masks and where only ones on the bus as they only take one driver, my daughter is 15 so she came with me. I have used this company a good few times and they get better and better every time. Big thank you to the team, I highly recommend this experience and this company. Perfect day out to celebrate wedding anniversary today. Good clear instructions before we set off. Equipment clean and in good nick. Map provided plus handy collection from our end point at Hay. Thoroughly recommend for a lovely gentle experience on the beautiful River Wye.

My friends and I did the three day paddle to Hereford and will remember it for a long time fondly. We had an excellent time using the good paddling advice and reliable boats (even with our not so elegant crossing of many a high rock in the low water......).

Super friendly and laid back staff (especially Josh) put my group at ease despite this being our first proper paddle on a river.

One thing that caught us unawares for anyone doing this trip is how few pubs or places to have hot food there is along the route between Hay on Wye and Hereford. We set off on Saturday and nothing was open really sunday-monday. Just a heads up!

We had an incredible experience with Josh at wye Valley cannoes, I had very limited experience (around 4 hours of very easy cannoeing) and my wife had 0 recent experience, Josh talked us through what to expect through the whole journey, where to steer and what do's and don't to ensure we had a great time, when we came into the landing area he was there waiting for us and we were taken straight back to our cars, it was 3 hours in total (for the 1/2 day) from 10am - 1pm and we would highly recommend it for someone wanting this type of experience, the river was slow flowing so ideal for a beginner at the water level we experienced (low)
