Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa

Great dog friend room with easy access to grassy area via French doors straight off your room. Very comfy bed and great spa facilities. Evening meal was extremely tasty and great variety at breakfast. Breakfast times are good if you don't want to spring out of bed at sunrise. Only a couple of very minor negatives if you wanted to be picky that could do with a bit of a refresh.

Came here for a spa afternoon with a massage and afternoon tea. The spa area was nice and there was a lovely relaxation room which I would happily stay in all day. I had a back massage and it was lovely. The changing rooms were clean with free use of lockers and shower facilities. The showers included elemis shampoo and toiletries, there was also hand and body lotion too. The afternoon tea was nice, could have done with more sandwiches and less cakes though but that was just our preference, other people may prefer more cakes than sandwiches. We had the vegan afternoon tea and it was very tasty. I would happily return. The grounds were lovely too and I'm sure it would have been nice to stay overnight.

Would definitely recommend Hill Valley. Facilities Great and well managed. Room's were a great size, especially having a queen size bed. Food was delicious and well presented. Staff in all area's was very helpful and friendly. New year's Eve, was brilliant, lovely setting, great music. The only thing was lamps in Room's didn't have bulbs or weren't working. Maybe staff could check them when cleaning the Room's and check to make sure there is tea0 and coffee in the room. We will definitely be back. 😊

A great hotel and location for couples weekends away. The food and service were excellent, great room with views over the golf course. A superb stay, guys playing golf and girls enjoying the spa – couldn't be better. Plenty of space to relax and the staff really made us feel welcome. Amazed the golf course was open (following a week of heavy rain) but the buggy path made sure we could go out both days... compliments to green-keeping staff and Pro shop team! Really enjoyed the break and will certainly stay again.

We had a lovely twin room overlooking the golf course with our own little patio. We even managed to sit outside although it was the end of October! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals in the restaurant. Breakfast is freshly cooked for you and it was delicious. We had dinner from the set menu and that was excellent too. There is a good sized swimming pool which we used and gym facilities (which we didn't use). A really lovely place to relax which is what we went for. We would certainly like to visit again.

Great 1 night stay. Lovely big room with huge bed. Really comfortable, had a brilliant nights sleep. Lovely Elemis products. Spotlessly clean. Great breakfast, loads of choice. All the staff were lovely and really helpful. Planning on going back to use the spa facilities. Would definitely recommend.

Very nice place. Restaurant is a little worn, but catch of the day (cod) and waitress Kaela made up for it. It is refreshing to meet a waitress who enjoys her job and has a smile that light up the room. She is a gem.

I visited the spa on the 6th January with family and my experience at both the spa and hotel were exceptional. The spa facilities were extremely clean and so was our room. The food was fantastic, I had the braised beef and it just fell apart and melted in the mouth, would highly recommend it !! Overall I was really happy with my stay and I shall be visiting again. Thankyou to the team!

We spent NYE here for the gala dinner, great atmosphere, food and entertainment with attentive staff. The only slight negative i would say is the rooms are a little tired, although comfortable. Over all a very pleasant stay in a beautiful location

Lovely stay at hotel. Staff were very friendly and attentive. we enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. Also made good use of leisure facilities.

Stayed December 24/25 nights. The friendliest most helpful staff we’ve ever come across! Always polite and cheerful. Food was delicious and plentiful and the walk around the Emerald course on Christmas morning was delightful. Definitely recommend!

Lovely trip away. Great leisure facilities and incredibly friendly staff. Also a really lovely vegan menu for plant based guests. We will definitely be back

I was at Hill Valley with Fore Business for a competition and all the staff were great. Julie was great with ensuring we had our bacon farms and plenty of tea and coffee on Monday morning.
I played on the Sunday and the course wasn't in great shape, the green staff done an amazing job being out early hours on Monday morning getting it ready for the competition and deserve a big pat on the back for their efforts. Thanks to Jeff and the team for hosting the event

We boooked a Christmas Break and were welcomed and installed in an accessible room which was just that, with a 'safe' showerm and rhere was plenty of room for my wifes mobility scooter. she was able to use ut all round the hotel, and staff were very helpful. Food was very good, as was service.

Stayed for 2 nights attending wedding what a superb hotel and staff .you should be so proud. Very clean and comfortable. It is so nice to have cheerful staff . My grateful thanks to all staff

All round excellent New Yrs event. High quality all the way. Sadly the pre-event information was patchy - you have to ask a question to get info and staff uncontactable by phone. However this did not spoil our experience on the day/night. I would recommend and hope to attend the next one b

Food was absolutely delicious, thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal and also breakfast.
Staff very friendly and attentive.
Room clean and spacious, lovely hot bath and comfortable bed.

Despite our first room (207) not being made up from the previous visitors, the receptionist rectified immediately and even went above and beyond to book our treatments in.
Lucy and Grace in the restaurant were fantastic on clearly a busy night, the food was amazing. Will 100% stay again!
