Holiday Inn Winchester, an IHG Hotel

My experience at this hotel was the best amongst all the other places our family stayed in UK (mostly in and around London). The rooms was very spacious, helps with our 2 young kids. The staff were all very attentive, breakfast was great. The team making, serving breakfast was amazing. The rooms were clean, we ordered dinner at the hotel restaurant both night and were quite satisfied, did not find a need to venture out. Everyone at this hotel were smiling and greeting which was different from our experience at the other hotels we stayed at in London. It makes a difference for visitors.

Visited for a weekend break , lovely greeting at reception & room clean & spacious. Visited the gym which was better equipped & in better condition than my local one! Very impressed & happy in worked out before the very substantial breakfast. Christine the chef was happy to cook poached eggs to order despite the restaurant being busy, great job ! Would recommend, great value

Good experience at this family friendly hotel. Nice, quiet location with lots of parking space. Duty Manager Anna was amazing with her customer service skills, as she managed to sort out a challenge during our stay with positive outcome 👍 Raj at the bar was friendly barista 🙂. The stay was comfortable as room was spacious for 2 adults × 1 Child.

Accommodated me last minute when I made a mess of booking at a different hotel for the wrong date. Very friendly reception staff and upgraded my room free of charge as they could see I had a stressful couple of hours.

Room was spacious and clean, a little out of the town centre but nothing too inconvenient as it's very easy to grab a taxi.

Breakfast included but I never had the time to try the food. Parking available with an extra charge of £10.

I would highly recommend.

We had a restful stay here over the Christmas period of 2023, visiting Winchester. We were welcomed by friendly staff, good size room for my small family, good bathroom facilities and a responsive climate control. There were plenty of reception seating and a decent size restaurant with plenty of breakfast options. Again staff here were friendly and attentive.

Perhaps not the most up-to-date gadgets for a 4 star hotel like a big TV screen, usb charging but not really a deal breaker. Some paint could do with re-touch here and there but really nit picking. Also wanted to mention very little hanging space for clothes. Overall we had a relaxing stay, and great staff which what really matters the most.

Fantastic hotel, room spotlessly clean and bed really comfortable. Restaurant was really good with excellent staff. Attached Spa well worth a visit. Bus Stop outside allowing buses into Winchester and Alton for £2 each way and you can leave the car in the car park for free! Note though that a £10 a day charge for parking comes in from Jan 24.

Lovely room, very modern, staff friendly and helpful, good value food menu and kids ate free whilst we were there.

Always have a pleasant experience here. Rooms are a decent size, service is excellent and the hotel is situated a 10 minute taxi drive from Winchester centre.

Stayed here for one night to make use of the adjoining spa. For context, I arrived on a Sunday afternoon so it was fairly quiet.

First impressions upon walking up to and into the hotel were great. The entrance felt quite grand, and the lobby you walk into was visually full of life, colour, and great design. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who checked me in. This hotel doesn’t use self-check in, as it is still using key cards at the time of writing this review. Saying that, it was quick and easy and I was swiftly directed to my room.

My room was OK. I got a fairly reduced rate as I was staying on a less popular day. However, if I was paying full rate that was advertised at reception I would probably have been slightly disappointed at that price. There were two, what looked like, red wine stains on the carpet at the entrance of the room’s door, and the surface of the unit that contained the kettle was damaged. However, I was greeted by a hand written note so that was a nice touch. My first impressions walking in the room weren’t initially great, but neither of these issues affected me or my stay directly as they were just cosmetic issues but I wanted to mention them in the review. The bathroom was squeaky clean.

In the evening, after my spa treatment, I had dinner in the onsite restaurant. It was delicious. I can highly recommend the lamb shank, and I would like to send some compliments to the chef. It was prime dinner time, but that didn’t seem to be an issue as I was seated immediately and received fast and efficient service from the restaurant & bar team the whole time I was there.

I headed back to my room with a drink to relax after dinner. After waking up after a restful night of sleep and a comfy medium-firm bed, I had breakfast in my room. This was another great experience. All of my breakfast preferences were catered for, and nothing was missed from the list. They arrived promptly at my specified time, and the person delivering it was very friendly and professional.

I would have no hesitations to return to this hotel in the future. Thank you!

Amazing and helpful staff, checked in after 5 hours on roasting trains in nearly 30°c weather... was dying for a nice cold shower but had a bit of a water issue with it only running hot, staff had maintenance out to sort it in minutes. Food in the restaurant is not only brought to you amazingly fast, but was delicious as well with the waiting staff working efficiently and with loads of positive energy. Whole place feels cozy and welcoming from the minute you walk through the front doors.

The hotel is well located a short distance from the centre of Winchester. It's a little far out to walk into the centre but there is a bus every half hour.
The hotel has a lovely open plan reception and lounge area with plenty of seating and connected work spaces.
Our room was a good size and had all we needed including a very comfortable bed.
Partly due to the poor weather we ate at the hotel, the food was good and reasonably priced.
The Staff we met were all helpful and friendly.

Good hotel, nice sized room, clean, good choice of TV, good breakfast, spa closed too early but otherwise hard to fault. Free EV charging was a very welcome surprise. It’s a slow charger which is exactly what is needed when you’re spending the night in a hotel. I wish the UK Hotel trade overall would wake up to the requirements of electric car owners. We’re happy to pay for the facility to overnight charge our cars, at a slow rate. After all if you’re in the hotel you’re there for the night anyway. Rows of chargeable per night 13amp outdoor sockets will do us just fine.

Recently stayed here for a few nights and will definitely be back! Great rooms, great location for cycles, walks and drive outs. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. We really liked the general ambience about the place in the lounge and bar and food portions were good, especially the buffet breakfast!! It has a great gym for guests to use for free (The Spa is extra). Would highly recommend!

A fantastic hotel, with fantastic personal. All of the staff are just wonderful. Beds are really comfortable and the rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. I stay here very often and wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.
Congratulations to everyone involved with this hotel you are all amazing.

A business training day, lovely hotel and easy to find. The corporate rooms were well ventilated and high standard of cleanliness upheld.
Me and a colleague missed the lunch briefing where particular tables were reserved for dinner and accidentally sat down from them. The only thing separating the two services was the colour of the napkin, which after being given a spoon and told half way through our meal; had it been clearer perhaps with a reserved sign, we would of not sat at those tables. Otherwise, great food selections and tea and coffee on tap was helpful.

Pat this lady is lovely my children love her they've been asking for her since they woke up this morning we're so happy that we got to say goodbye to her on our last day. They said if we have to Mark our out of 10 we will give her 20 plus. The hotel and the service and the food is lovely we will definitely come again thank you for having us xx

From US on a holiday. The hotel was great for a small family on a three night stay. Service was excellent with friendly staff. The food was surprisingly very good. There is also a gym which beat many of the finest hotel gyms I’ve seen. Really top notch, spacious, with lots of modern equipment and free weights. If you are up for a workout mid-holiday or business trip, this is the place for you. The lobby was open, clean, and airy. The only negative points worth mentioning is that it is located a bit out of town (obviously, but taxi into town was easy and about 9-10 pounds), and the bathroom was outdated. We will stay here again if we come back to Winchester. Well done holiday inn Winchester.

We stayed for 2 nights whilst visiting Poultons Park and would highly recommend. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a lovely experience with the chef being one of the most helpful I have encountered in any hotel. Beds were very comfy and the rooms along with the rest of the hotel were spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend.

Excellent customer service, Thanks to Rodrique who made sure I and the children had a comfortable room. He even assisted us to our room. Kids really enjoyed their sleep. Thanks to Kristina the morning chef who was catering to everyone's needs. Very much appreciated. Thanks to George and Patrycjan for the excellent restaurant service. The food was outstanding, We felt really welcomed and all catered to our needs. Loved the humour interaction with the children, they were rating the staff 10 /10. Would definitely come back and recommend.
