I get why people complain and I understand the frustration of waiting 30+ minutes to have a 1 minute discussion with the receptionist. But overall I've never once had an issue. Yeah fine the waiting is annoying but complaining won't hurry it up. Just takes time and patience and you'll get the appointment you need. Been registered here over 18 years and never had trouble.

One of the better GPs I've been to, staff friendly appointments can be tricky at times but overall a good place.

Trying to get through for an hour, 21 attempts, finally get into the queue. Wait for 20/30 mins, only to get to the end and get cut off from the receptionist! I wish I hadn't left my previous surgery, would have happily made the 40min drive rather than switched. I guess it's not their fault, maybe there aren't enough surgeries nearby and they've just got too many people under their care..
UPDATE
Did the whole process again, got through, SPOKE to someone, they were arranging with me a phone appointment for later in the week and she cut me off again! How can you be so incompetent?

Awful service! Was told I would get a call from the Dr in the morning. Waited until 12 and got nothing. I then called them, only to be told that they had called me texted me. After explaining that I had not received any call or text, I was told all the appoints had gone and there was nothing they could. After expressing my frustration, I was told to be rude a call had been made. There was attempt to help resolve the situation even though I stressed the urgency of talking to a Dr. I will now have to go to A&E to see if I can get this dealt with. The seems to be a trend with this place. They constantly get appointments wrong, bt now they have taken it to a new level, lying about making calls and sending texts messages

Absolutely useless, ring bang on 8am cant get through 8:30 appointments all gone. Call up and ask if I can book an appointment for tomorrow as my son (6) has a chest infection they won't do it said to keep trying each morning. I been trying since last Tuesday!!!! He's had it for a week now and they still ain't interested. Said to go to a+e hospital.....what a waste of hospital time surely the receptionists should not even be advising everyone to go a+e..... a+e is accident and emergency which this isn't !!!!!!!😡

Just impossible to get in touch with!! There answer machine rejects calls!! If you’re lucky enough to get in the phone queue! I’ve waited 35 minutes before now. They recently issued a wrong prescription! Which now means my essential medication is low!! Can I get in touch with them NO!!! Where told not to come to surgery and we cannot take your calls!! Try it..,. My friends laugh and think I’m joking! They have no such issues! I appreciate time’s are difficult! But! Not even to pickup the phone! Just not good enough! I would leave zero stars if I could! For health and safety reasons. Rant over

Absolutely appalling surgery, you can never get an appointment. I've tired to speak with my doctor about changing my current meds and and they won't speak with me without an appointment. You can't book in advance or on the day and the receptionist is incredibly rude!

Still waiting for my medication and its been nearly a week later and still no sign of an appointment !!!!

Did think they was ok at first despite the reviews... but then they sent a cancellation text for an appointment on the day for my 3month old baby... due to unforeseen circumstances? And asked for me to ring the surgery, try to ring the surgery and the answer machine says we are unable to take your call at this time please call back later.
Not really helpful, if you’re going to cancel someone’s appointment at least have the decency to call them to reschedule especially being an unwell baby that had been in the special care baby unit and is still under hospital care.

Worst nightmare. Horrible reception staff. Bad booking system. A lady came in front of me, one could see she's not well. She was told she would have to come in tomorrow to book and appointment for the next day. Why not just book her now. Worse off I get there for my test results as I have been trying to call for the past 4 days and calls not going through. Only to be told we don't give test results before 2pm. This is the only chance I've had to go in. If someone has cancer they will wait for it to get to stage 4 before they give results. What a shame. This surgery used to be good. Now it's all gone down the drains. Dr Shimmins' receptionists are heartless to say the least. Very poor service and they don't care.
Glad I'm changing doctors.

Poor and getting worse. Dr Shimmins is good if you can ever get to see him which takes well over a week now. The biggest issue is the contact system, for appointments, prescriptions or anything else you need to speak to a doctor for you have to ring 'back back at 8 tomorrow', when you do ring back you're too late for today' call back tomorrow. The reception staff must be taking 10 calls for every one that gets sorted out. I've just picked up a prescription for something that its widely known hasn't been available for a couple of months (how couldn't the doctor know!), I called for an alternative product but cant even talk to a doctor on the phone for 2 days. Sorry but its not good enough I'm suffering here. I'm switching doctors.

Pre covid they were woeful in answering the phone, now if you win the on-hold lottery they tell you to fill in a form on the website and wait days for a response. Just how has covid created this situation? As far as I know zero people have caught covid from speaking to somebody on the telephone so what justification is there for this? The concept of duty of care towards patients seems non existent. After weeks of waiting, ineffective telephone consultations and unqualified diagnosis from the receptionist we finally get told that they will refer us to a specialist and they go silent again, not heard from them in over a week and in serious discomfort.

Contact via the telephone was impossible at the best of times pre pandemic - often much quicker to drive to the surgery and queue in person. The new system where you have no means of speaking to anyone seems illogical and unjustifiable.
No one is accountable for administrative errors made by the surgery. All in all an administrative nightmare and would not be accepted in many other professions or organisations.

Very poor doctors surgery. Tried calling for the past week, finally got through at 13:15 after ringing since 8am and getting cut off most of the day that there are no appointments and appointments cannot be pre booked. Appalling surgery!

Only went to pick up a Drs note for my girlfriend should of been a 5 minute job only to be told that it hadn't been taken out the Drs room and couldn't disturb him would get it after his appointment, so I went to do what else I needed to do and said I would come back.

When i returned there was another line to the door so waited another 15 minutes and got to the desk to be told it wasnt there still, only to be told that if you have a phone appointment for a Drs note at 1.20 then it wont be at the front desk until 5.30....why does it take 4 hours for a drs not to get to the reception?

If people was told on the phone to come in after a certain time would be helpful, I'm glad I dont have to deal with the place on a regular basis as their system needs looking at.

Absolute joke, been trying to get an appointment since 8am this morning but kept on going through and saying sorry your call cannot be taken at this time. Now apparently all appointments for today have been taken yet you still can't get through to even be on hold let alone talk to anyone 😡
