Lovely pint and a spot of lunch after a walk across the beachside. Staff were lovely and despite being very happy with my sharing board (that my pup got jealous of!) I couldn't help but spy how good the roasts look here, so will be back.

Grabbed food here the other day. It was a quiet weekday, I had steak - really good. My partner had fish and chips, equally decent. Nice decor and chilled atmosphere.

So, not sure why so many of the reviews are negative. Personally I think the refurb is great, they have left some of the old and made the whole pub feel less disjointed.
I’ve been a number of times now and the staff have been attentive, friendly and helpful.
My pie was fantastic. Drinks are a little more expensive but I don’t care because it felt like the heart of Sandgate was beating again The Ship used to be thriving and was a great place to meet up but over the years it became a skeleton off its former self.
Thank you for putting the spark back into The Famous Ship Inn!

I honestly didn’t think I would like this pub, even under new hands. The new decor, toilets, service and especially the food is really good! I actually don’t like the food at their other spots but here is special. Thank you ! Have had practically every starter and tasty pulled beef fries as well as phenominal fish and chips with gorgeous mushy peas (coming from 2 people who dislike mushy peas, and a regular fan)
The Guinness is very good, I would love love love a better pale and or pilsner style beer on tap. The Budvar is a nice change but not massively to my taste. So the selection is the only thing that would keep me from making this our local but it has honestly been good enough to come back 3x in 2 weeks.
Very easy to get to, clean friendly and super tasty. I feel bad for not believing in it but seriously well done and thank you !!

Lovely little pub that is very popular! Rammed with families and very busy on Christmas Day. Enjoyed a few drinks. Everyone (staff and other customers) were friendly. Dog friendly too!

Not sure about the negative reviews - been coming here for a while and the refit was very overdue - it's been nicely done, good atmos and real fires, staff very friendly and food was well above average gastropub quality. Lovely dog-friendly seaside pub now.

Has been beautifully refurbished without loosing its "old traditional pub" charm.

Cozy with a warm welcome, we didn't eat but the restaurant looked lovely and has beautiful views of the beach. The upstairs terrace is a lovely place to have a drink while taking in the scenery. It was a bit chilly and overcast when we went so I would love to visit again when the sun is shining, the only downside for me was parking, it was on street and would be difficult on a busier day so I would suggest a taxi.

Stewart & Wendy are great hosts. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Was super pleased to have found this little gem to stay in. We had the top floor, bedroom and sitting room with gorgeous sea views. Bed was comfortable, ensuite spotlessly clean. For breakfast there were lots to choose from and cooked fresh to perfection. The pub itself was quaint, historical with a relaxed atmosphere. The menu in the restaurant has a good choice of food too. Would highly recommend. If in this area again, would definitely make a reservation. Thank you Stewart & Wendy

Sunday pm, hungry after a hike, needed roast and quick. On the table 10 mins after sitting down awesome. 'Real' roast potatoes too. Expected 2 x veg dishes not one but plenty for four. No probs.

So me and my family have eaten here a few times and the food is amazing, cooked to perfection and well presented. Friendly staff and happy to help. We sat on roof terrace is the sun over looking the sea, one of the best places in folkestone with stunning views of the sea. My family and I will defo be coming back.

We hadn't booked, but they found a table for four of us, just perfect overlooking the sea. It was very busy and they had run out of a few things on the menu. However, what we did order was delicious, and the 2 waitresses, despite being run off their feet, were absolutely lovely. Good food. Good value. Good service. Good surroundings. Stunning views, will definitely return
