St Helen's Church, Ashby de la Zouch

I’m sure it’s a nice church but my main interest here was the history of the area and the Civil War.
On the entrance into the church, on top of the left hand pillar is a stone skull and crossbones which indicates plague death burials.

Beautiful church, very well kept! I loved the stained glass/windows, the architecture and the history behind such a peaceful place! The gardens are also well kept with a great variety of flowers. There is also an amusing game inside for youngsters (find the hidden mice) that stimulates observation.

ANGLIA ( położony na południe od Derby ) na ten kościół natrafiłem zupełnie przypadkiem, idąc w stronę zamku. Nie żałuję, że wszedłem do środka. Kościół pochodzi z XV wieku i jest zbudowany zgodnie z gotykiem angielskim. Jego początki sięgają XI wieku. Znalazłem kilka perełek z epoki średniowiecza w środku. Chociażby pięknie rzeźbiony sarkofag księcia Huntingdon z żoną.
