Such a cool place to go for a long walk. It was so cool to see the horses and the fantastic view of the countryside. I’ve lived in West Sussex for 10 years and only just discovered this place!

If you have a hard time walking uphill I would not recommend this for you as I’m young and healthy and still struggled to get up the initial incline!

That being said, absolutely stunning little gem :)

It is a bit of a walk up a steep hill, but totally worth every step.

It is owned by the National Trust and is designated a Scheduled monument for its Neolithic flint mine and Iron Age hillfort.

Neolithic flint mines were on Cissbury between 3500 BC and 2500 BC and are the earliest in Britain.

In addition to the history, it is truly beautiful, wild horses, wind swept trees, gorse bushes and stunning views.

Lots of footpaths to choose from.
You can walk right up to the top and walk around the ring, through woods or across fields. You do need to put your dog on lead at a couple of areas depending on the time of year.
Lots to choose from and various gradients

Beautiful place to walk. We parked away from the car park, as it says it is locked overnight but it currently doesn't have any means of a gate to lock it up, d'oh!
Bit of a hilly walk, took dinner up to eat with the lovely view at the top, the horses were fine but the flying ants were a pain in the backside!

Been up here a few times now as is is a great spot for aerial photography.

This is a popular area for dog walkers or those after a good hike with some stunning vistas of the Sussex countryside.

There even have some wild ponies taken from the New Forest stock to help with the conservation of the area (living lawn mowers to all intents and purposes). Sadly I haven't got to see them yet.

Stunning place, a little hilly in places. Depending on the time of day you can walk round and not see a soul. It does get busier the later on you go. The wild horses are a sight to see 😍

I love Cissbury, I've been visiting Cissbury for years, for picnics, walks, kite flying and just looking at the gorgeous views. There are a couple of ways up to the top and 2 car parks, neither of which is very big. The entrance to one is off a residential road. The other one you have to drive along a narrow country road for a bit and the parking is a lot bumpier and smaller but it's a shorter walk then the other car park. But which ever one you choose it is a fairly steep climb. It can get slippery in the winter and after a lot of rain, so good walking boots are sensible then. Love having the horses up here as well, they are great for photos as are the views. Our son loves to kite fly up here as well. This is a place I will visit for a long time to come.

Absolutely beautiful scenery within and around this Neolithic and Iron Age site.

Some truly spectacular views to be had despite quite a steep walk to the top.

Lots to see including barrows and ponies!

Definitely recommended although depending on the time of year, wrap up warm as it’s quite exposed so can get very cold and windy!

Great place, perhaps a little overcrowded, but definitely worth a visit. The views on a good day or simply spectacular, both towards the seaside and the countryside. You get pretty much a 360⁰ view, but not from the same place. Obviously the best times to visit are at sunset and sunrise, especially if you are a photo enthusiast. The carpark is very small and it only allowed a few cars at a time.

Beautiful quiet location at the top of the downs. Strenuous walk up from the A24 side but worth it for the panoramic views. If you want to be in solitude, go up on a weekday and enjoy the company of a dog 😊 (take a flask) 👍

Beautiful sunset from the top of Cissbury Ring. Play caution to the wild horses that approach for a friendly nose rub, as one chased me off the edge of the hill (sod)!!! as we were leaving.. guess he wanted the place to himself.

Apart from my near horsey death experience it is very beautiful up there.

Walk around the edge of the hill first as it’s not as steep in places.

Beautiful walks, with stunning views across to the sea and across Sussex. Wild ponies roam on the rings. Variety of different walks you can take. Pathways are mostly clear. Be careful during wetter days as the chalk on some paths can get a tad slippery. Parking available in designated car parks on both sides of the Ring and also on roads near Coombe Rise car park.

stunning bronze age hill top fort with views for miles I every direction... great for dog walks and rambles. A good mix of terrain mean this walk is suitable for most folks although the steep climb from the car park could be a deal breaker for the more infirm.

Beautiful place, nice gentle little walk up, good for all ages and abilities. Nice little area to park close if needed, well connected to other walks. Can use steps or walk up without for more of a challenge. Nice views from up top.

This is one of my favourite walking areas. Once at the top, you get gorgeous 360 degree views. The ring can be reached from trails on many sides with different gradients. This spring, April 2018, some wild horses from the New Forrest were roaming the hilltop. Apparently they had been relocated there which adds a fun element for kids. Not sure if they are permanent. The walk up is not hard, unless you come straight up the north side trail. It's absolutely magical on a foggy day, usually early morning when the fog hangs in the low lands on the north side and you rise above it. Enjoy!

Magical little piece of heaven.
I bring my daughter almost 5years old to escape the madness of everyday. We play ball, run up hills,I run down hills chasing the ball that she loves to try and get past me. She just laughs at me chasing this damn ball. But that's why it's magical, because I love to see her little smiling face and hear her laughter.
Not to mention the wild ponies, they are surely my daughter's reason for climbing to the top and then hunting for them in the wood lands. Just to get a glimpse. It's beautiful this place a little piece of heaven ❤

Amazing view from the top, where you can appreciate the whole Findon Valley and you can even see the sea too. Easy footpaths, ideal for a nice walk with your children or dog.

Beautiful walk with the dogs, amazing views.
Car park is small but we managed to squeeze in.
We lucked out with the weather and had a great couple of hours.
