Great Haseley Windmill

Such a wonderful place. Very peaceful. Visited on a sunny Sunday morning in the middle of October. We were the only ones "on site". Spent about 30 minutes there playing with a kite!

I recommend bringing a kite, as it's perfect location for that.

Also waterproof picnic blanket if you intend to have a lunch or some refreshments.

The surrounding areas are quite breathtaking, the best of British countryside.

If coming from Oxford, choose the longer route through the villages, very picturesque.

Cannot wait to come back with kids!

(We parked on the Thame Lane, which was only 3 minutes walk from the Windmill)

Wander around to get lost!! Discovered this gem whilst I took a wrong exist on M40. Located just off the motorway, this restored Windmill is nicely located off the Great Haseley village.

You need to drive off A329, turning left on Rectory Rd (whilst arriving from M40 exit) to park road side and walk towards the windmill. There are other ways to get there for sure, though I found this easy.

Respect the neighbours and the farm animals.

This is a splendidly restored Windmill which you can walk by anytime and admire. It is open at certain times throughout the year (usually on a Sunday). I don't know if they have a website I suspect they probably have and that would be the best way to find out about opening times.

Stumbled upon this place during sunset, it was beautiful and spectacular treat to the eyes. Went in on a weekend, was not crowded, got a place for parking.

A stunning piece of restoration. I was privileged to be asked by the projects restorer, David Empringham, to create a new finial for the windmills top to replace the old Oak one which had perished. Rather than recreate it in Oak the decision was made to use modern materials to reduce the weight and cost. A fantastic project to be part of and the windmills restoration is magnificent.
