Entoto Beth Artisan

I visited here at the end of a 2 week trip. The gifts here, the craftsmanship, are amazing. I cannot recommend this place more for anyone looking to get something meaningful to take home.

I was looking for a place to buy local fair trade products as gifts for my friends back home. I'm so glad that I found Entoto Beth Artisan. The product quality and range of products at their shop near the Desalegn hotel was fantastic. The ladies in the store were very helpful. My friends are all happy with their gifts. I preferred the shawls that I bought here over the ones that I saw at the cloth market - the ones here are in beautiful colours, high quality cotton, clean and very versatile

On 6 January 2019 I purchased some goods from Entoto Artisan shop at Addis Ababa airport in Ethiopia. I paid with credit card. When I paid the machine had a paper malfunction and no slip came out. The shop assistant assured me that the charge did not go through. She put my card through again on a different machine successfully. It has come to light that I was inmessages fact charged twice. The amount is 925.32 Ethipoian Birr / 474.64 South African Rand. I contacted the owners of the shop and and they promised to refund me, but since it’s been a series of the same questions from them over and over, asking again again for the slip and proof of a double charge, and then just email silence, I suspect that they hope I will simply give up. The is simply fraud and thinking of it again it might be a clever trick they pull on tourists. Very sad to have left Ethiopia as this with my last interaction with the people of this beautiful country.

*EDIT* After 6 months, tons of frustrating emails and messages, threats and pleas I received my refund.
