Amazing performance. Everyone did such a great job creating a powerful reenactment of the Lord’s Passion. The music was stirring- with true talents in the soloists. We’ll worth the wait to see the passion play. Also very well organized. Getting through security was so simple.

Amazing performance of non-professional participants, every 10 years for nearly 400 years. Okay, 5 hours of show is quite long, but they make it captivating by regular changes between choirs, theater play and still pictures. Great respect for a well-oiled community effort and project!

Beautiful play and story. It is in German, but you can get a book with all the spoken parts and words to the songs. It's beautiful to see not even understanding every word. Amazing at how many people are on the stage at one time and transition from choir to actors, blending perfectly. The action includes live animals. There's a 3 hour intermission to allow for dinner and shopping in town. Plan to be there all day, arriving early to shop and eat lunch, get through security. Then your dinner break, then the second half of the play finishes up at 9:30-9:45 pm.

Excellent acoustics and seating arrangement, big stage, covered against the rain, enough fresh air. We loved the performance, but six hours on a hard seat is one hour too long.

If you have the opportunity, you must go see the Passion Play at least once in your lifetime. Absolutely amazing! While it's a full day, it went by very quickly. The 3 hour break was perfect. The shuttle service worked flawlessly. Hoping to attend again in 2030.

Beautiful small town 45 min away from Neuschwanstein castle. Very picturesque, and cozy. People is kind and prices reasonable. We stopped there as part of a tour and we were amazed by their friendliness and wood carving excellence. The history behind the village is very interesting too. Be sure to check it out if you are on your way to the castle, you won’t regret it!

The experience of lifetime. Scenes from the life and Passion of Christ performed every 10 years since 1634. The entire population of residents participates as actors, singers or musicians. Every other day 5000 spectators move in and out of local accommodation. Beautiful.

The theatre is massive - up to 5000 spectators can attend each performance. There can be 1400 actors on stage at any one time. The sound system is very good - they have the loop but it picks up too many extraneous voices: it seemed any actor who whispered something to their mate had their whispers 'broadcast' by the loop which was disconcerting. It can get chilly - you are seated for at least 2.5 hours - so dress warmly and in layers. Bring a blanket to cover your knees. If your German is not fluent, you can obtain an English-language text of the Passion Play script but you will need a torch for the evening half of the performance.

This is a centuries old event and very worth the visit. The production was of the highest quality and very well organized. The seating had very good views. Seats are easy to find and the ushers are fast and helpful. I would highly recommend this amazing tradition.

It's hard to believe that it was 4 years ago I booked to go to Oberammergau 2020, which was postponed due to Covid.

I am so pleased I kept my deposit in a holding fund in order to attend Oberammergau 2022.

Reflecting here on the back of the bus heading back to the hotel........... I have performed in Jesus Christ Superstar as a teenager, had the privilege of reading parts of the Passion on Palm Sunday both in a Lay and Ordained capacity throughout my Christian life; but I don't think I've been to anything so awe inspiring and so deeply moving, as the Oberammergau Passion Play.

Loved it, a great presentation of the days of the passion, all in German but I was given a script in booklet form of the English translation and whom is saying what. But no photos of the actual play is aloud.

Just such an amazing experience. So well produced and acted. Fabulous music and the singing by the soloists and the choir was sensational. A once in a lifetime must do.

The Passion Play was a remarkable and moving experience. The last days of Jesus's life, and His resurrection were beautifully and sensitively portrayed. I really appreciated that the cast had visited the Holy Land, and that there was a strong Jewish element in the production. Superb and powerful acting, and some great links made between the Old and New Testament.

Amazing performances, 👏 emotional, spiritual and uplifting with wonderful music. The choir which included Ukrainian children was fabulous. Organisation of tickets to include a light lunch and dinner was a great idea. Blessed with good weather it was an incredible day. The auditorium is amazing and seats comfortable. What more could I want, nothing.

Definitely a bucket list item. We were originally going to see the passion play in 2020 but we all know what happened then. Highly recommend this once in a lifetime experience

The atmosphere and vibe in the town is festive. English is well supported in the signage and locals are generally fluent. At the concert we saw many people wearing traditional Barvarian attire.

Parking was 5€ all day, free shuttle service, well organized, beautiful town, and the performance itself was super professional, given that all participants are locals and therefore mostly amateurs. It’s a classic and must see, if you’re lucky enough to be in Germany during the Passion of Christ which is only performed every tenth year!

Once in every ten years Passion Play show is enchanting. The show will transport you to a different time and space. I'm taking groups here Sep 7, 2022.
