Amazing food, very good beer and just the perfect Kaiserschmarrn. Be aware the portions are huge.

Ate at this place tonight. I got a classic meal, roast pork with crisp pork skin with sauerkraut and dumplings. Very good meal, especially coating the pork with the the beer gravy. I had a beautiful setting with a view of the mountains. The service staff was polite and the food came out quick. All around a great meal.

Visited Maxbrau twice this week, while staying in Oberammergau. We went for traditional Bavarian dishes, and absolutely loved everything we tried - pork knuckle and pork shoulder were amazing! Great beer made in-house. Superb service. Advisable to book - gets busy. Would highly recommend this place!

Great German food. Perfect combination of different flavors and textures.

The pork knuckle was crisp on the outside while the meat was tender and juicy. Had some interesting layers of flavors underneath the really nice and surprisingly mild black pepper: nutmeg and allspice possibly.

The sauerkraut had some really intense flavors perfectly balanced between that fermented funkiness and acidity.

The sauce was smoothly creamy, but most likely cream free. Like the best Sunday steak gravy you ever had.

The dumplings were surprisingly not boring. Mild, but still added some different texture and a hint of salt and herbs (possibly just the parsley on top).

Asked the waiter for a beer that would go along with the food and he brought a really exciting “unfiltered cellar beer”.

Also great not to intense service. Causal yet caring.

Great place to eat with very good German food. Good quality and prices according to the location and quality. Beer is really good and personal are very friendly. The amount of food you get is really a lot, bit they have no problem preparing everything to take away. I strongly recommend the Keller Bier and the Kaiserschmarrn, this last one can be a good desert for even 5 persons.

Hello Summer IPA! I like you!

We ate here twice in the week we were in town! The service here was great. The food was great. We had the goulash, pork knuckle, pulled pork sandwich, tomato soup, and a beer onion soup.

The goulash was fantastic. The pork knuckle was tender and the outside was perfectly crispy. The pulled pork sandwich is very good for being in Germany where it seems like BBQ is few and far between. The sweet potato fries were an excellent touch.

The soups were even good.

There was so much we wanted to try here and will be back if we are in the area.

We ordered Krustenbraten, IPA beer and Radler (really good), the red cabbages, soft pork and crispy skin, potato dumplings were really tasty and big portion. The staff were very friendly and professional. The atmosphere was really comfortable. My husband and I were very happy and had really good experience there from there and great service from the management and staff!

Great food with a relaxing and cozy atmosphere. The locally brewed cellar beer was delightful and worth the trip alone. You can't go wrong with ordering the apple strudel dessert!

After a wine trip of a couple of days it‘s always nice to find a typical Bavarian place that brews their own beers. 😅 Between the 3 we got to choose from today (Kellerbier, Radler and Spezial (= IPA)) we did enjoy the Spezial the most. But the ONE thing you cannot miss out on is the „Kaiserschmarrn“. We‘ve never been served a similar dish of that kind in that manner. We absolutely loved it! 😁

Some of the best Bavarian food I’ve had as well as some of the most unique and tasty beer I’ve! As if the amazing food wasn’t enough, they brew their own beer! Definitely a must try for foodies and beer lovers!
