HOTEL ALTE POST

We loved our stay at this hotel. We only stayed one night but the room was very nice, staff at the front desk was very helpful and spoke great English. I would highly recommend this hotel. Located in the center of town. Excellent. The breakfast that was included had everything anyone could want!

Great hotel, great rooms, great location, great value. Parking included with EV charging.

A very beautiful place in the center of the town.
It's a very particular city where you can see a lot of beautiful houses, fully decorated with a lot of colors.

Veronica at the reception was very helpful and friendly. She even lent me an electrical "connector" (forgot the name) for European charging.
She explained our Passion Play tickets. And gave helpful guidance.
Marian our server was efficient and pleasant.
Room is clean.
Highly recommended.

We visited twice for drinks during a busy Passion Play weekend in August 2022, on both occasions the patio and restaurant were very busy but staff were friendly, quick and attentive. A very welcoming place to stop for a drink and one we would be quick to recommend.

A beautiful Bavarian hotel in the very centre of Oberammergau, this hotel is 400m from the Passion Play theatre. Our room was on the second floor - there is a lift but we used the stairs - and looked out onto the street below with Alps in the distance. It was a large room with a good-sized bathroom. We had to be careful not to bump our heads on the low, gabled ceiling getting in or out of bed. There was a skylight over the bath which was open - to close it would have meant balancing on the edge of the bath and stretching into the stratosphere. The food in the restaurant is excellent. The staff are friendly although, of course, during 'Passion Play season', extremely busy.

Lovely restaurant, beautiful hotel!

Hotel Alte Post is a very nice place, at my first stay in Oberammergau this was my first hotel, and gave me a good first impression, not only about itself but the warmhearted locals as well.
I can only recommend it to anyone, the room was comfortable and clean, the restaurant offered excellent food, and the staff was very friendly.

The ALTE POST is a lovely place to stay. The location is excellent for walking the village, plus the rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included with out stay. There were many options to choose! Also, try the restaurant for dinner. We loved our meal and the service was fast and gracious.

Stayed here one night during a family voyage across Europe. We absolutely loved this hotel. My two small boys absolutely loved the loft style room. The only negative is we couldn't extend our stay another night because it was fully booked :) we couldn't recommend this hotel (and town for that matter) enough!

I'd never had proper Wiener schnitzel before evidently, as the dish I received here looked the same but was infinitely more delicious than what I'd had in my homeland of Canada at "authentic German" establishments.

The server was friendly as can be and the prices, while a bit higher than surrounding establishments, weren't absurd (About €15 for meal)

It's also evidently one of, if not, the oldest restaurants in the region.

Pleasant and accommodating staff. Nice associated restaurant with tasty meals, but doesn’t seem to stay open late. Location is no more than 10 minute walk from the train station. There was a fridge and TV in the room. The WiFi is a bit erratic.

Great location and great value for money. The room was spacious for the four of us, the bathroom was modern and everything was very clean. Free parking and wifi, breakfast was great with something for everyone and the resturant served god food. Staff were attentive and nice. Cleaning staff were great and even laid out our childrens stuffed animals in funny positions which made out kids day when they returned from day trips. Recommended!

Great hotel in centre of town, we stayed one night of Passion Play. Good and service excellent and efficient. Room comfortable, best night's sleep I had all holiday.

Very nice hotel. It is located in the very center of the town right in the midst of shopping and restaurants. It has its own wonderful restaurant, so you don't need to go far. Breakfast included all kinds of food, not only traditional German. But we ate the German food. Lots of cheese was from Ettal, local monastery, and it was delicious. We visited it on the way out, it is only 10 minute drive. I recommend visiting their cheese store and beer. Hotel also has a nice free parking.

Great location and even better staff. We had a great stay and would recommend this place to anyone. Very quaint. Perfect location. Free parking. Great food. Super helpful staff, Couldn't have asked for more.

Had a great stay at the Hotel Alte Post. Very easy parking, clean and extremely spacious room, terrific location, great breakfast. Oberammergau was such a great little pricturesque German village. Our family had a very relaxing evening enjoying all of the shops and restaurants. Our only regret is that we didn't plan on staying longer.

Great place to stay if you are in the area. Privately owned. Great food and relaxed friendly service. Great breakfast.
