Some rarely mentioned yet deserving respect place in Prague. A little steep hill but rewarded with a great view towards the city and if you go also to the museum and the terrace upstairs the view is even better. Probably a good place for sunrise or sunset. However there seems to be a problem regarding flies. There is SO MANY
of them upstairs I felt attacked. Had to take off my clothes because they were everywhere - like a swarm. Could not stay up more than 30 seconds and had to rush back to the building. Be wary.
The undergrounds on the other hand were like a horror movie set 😑

You have to visit this place if you happen to be in prague. This is one important part if the history of the nation and the city and you may understand everything somehow better. The sculptor is the third biggest bronze rider sculpture in the world. The view towards the city is amazing and I would suggest visiting either early morning hours or late afternoon hours for better shades of photography and a pleasant temperature. Unless you are visiting during the winter....

Great landscape to enjoy, especially at sunset. You can also enjoy a walk, some jogging or street workout in the park right next to it.

Consider to check out the National Memorial on Vítkov. This towering monument is located on a hill with the same name and offers a unique combination of history and stunning views that you won't find anywhere else in the city.
One of the best parts about visiting the National Memorial is the interactive and educational exhibitions inside. They're so cool and engaging, you'll forget you're even learning. The exhibitions provide a fascinating look into the history of Czechoslovakia and the role it played in World War I. It's the perfect place to spend a few hours, especially if you're a history buff.

This is without a doubt my favorite view point of prague. And its also the cheapest too. For some reason this isn't as well known as the others, but even on a hazy day you can see for miles. Entrance for Just the view point was around just €3, and it's absolutely worth it.

Walking around Zizkov District is something I always love doing on any trip to Prague I take, Finding a way up can be tricky if you don't know Prague (there was construction happening when I went), but it is worth the visit overlooking the wonderful district, and this giant equestrian statue in honour of Jan Zizka who defeated the Catholic forces lead by Sigismund in the Battle Of Vitkov Hill in 1420, well detailed statue constructed between 1928-1938, its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the Zizkov District and hard to miss, its a big statue.

Definitely worth visiting, seemingly exceeding my expectations. Interesting history of the monument. As bonus, great view on Prague and low entrance fee. Became one of the most memorable places from my trip to Prague.

Plus, there is also a Cafe Vitkov (cash only), which offers great selection of coffee as well as drinks. The place is definitely worth visiting!

This is a great site with great views of the whole magnificent Prague. It is quiet, peaceful and just beautiful. Here you can relax and breathe clean air. On this famous and historic Vitkov hill Here you will find the famous National Monument on Vítkov which includes the third largest bronze equestrian statue in the world, of Jan Žižka (famous general, Hussite military leader). Love this place.

The memorial complex in Vítkov was built in 1929-38 in honor of Czechoslovak legionaries. The modernist classicizing building was designed by Jan Zázvorka. During the occupation of 1939-1945, it served as a warehouse for military material. After 1945, it was misused to promote the regime (Gottwald's mausoleum), today you will find a museum of modern history with a multimedia exhibition called Crossroads of Czech and Czechoslovak Statehood. The equestrian statue of Jan Žižka is the work of Bohumil Kafka and was ceremoniously unveiled on July 14, 1950. The sculptural group of assembled bronze parts, cast separately in the foundry of V. Mašek in Karlín, is one of the largest equestrian statues in the world. It reaches over 9 meters in height, is about 5 meters wide and less than 10 meters long. The total weight is 16.2 tons. The hollow interior is accessible in the back of the horse through a mounting hole.

Take your time, but go. The vistas from the rooftop gives a new prospective of Prague. Explore the monument from the inside and see EVERYTHING.

I got experience the history of the Czech Republik in a sombre way,
Here i learnt about the heroes and heroins that contributed to the progress and Reform in this country. The role and work of women and children born out of wedlock who latter on went to lead the country are documented here.
-there is also a Mausoleum for one of the fallen sons of the Nation.
The staff is very warm and friendly.

Most of the reviewers only describe the monument to Jan Žižka, but not the museum in the national monument building, which is a bit sad, because the museum is fantastic.

The National monument museum has a great exhibition of the Czech and Slovak uprising during the latter stages of the Second World War. If you're visiting the monument and interested in history, I recommend visiting the museum. The museum also covers Czech and Slovak history from the beginning of the 20th century to the end of the Velvet Revolution. There's also a shrine tomb (or shrine) to Czech and Slovak heroes.

As for the monument to Jan Žižka, this is a huge equestrian statue. It's hard to believe just how large it is until you see it in person. It's absolutely worth the (difficult) climb up the hill just to see this monument alone.

Beautiful view of the whole Prague from the top of the hill. The park is definitely worth visiting in the spring, when everything is in full blossom
