Great place to visit in Prague, museum is quite informative and fulfilled with blacksmiths' items starting from the very first cast metal, ending with incredibly complicated locks of XV-XVII century. Sometimes it'll take you a few minutes to understand (if you'd be able to) the principle of mechanism.

A fine museum about the history of Prague from pre-history to the 1700s. After you have read about Czech history, taken the tours, walked the the narrow streets, and gotten a feel for the terrain, you will want to see this museum. It nicely ties together the various cultural, religious, and historical themes of the city so that you will understand more clearly the forces that shaped this beautiful city.

If you are planning a trip to Prague, you should start here. The small model of the city gives you a good way to visualise the different spots in the city, and how you could get there.
Taking photo's is not allowed, unless you pay a fee.

Students: price here is 60 kč a person, with public transport of 32 kč to get there, it is one of the cheapest places to go.
Not discounted fees are 130 kč a person.

Is it interesting? Yes, if you are interested in history. It starts with the archeology of Prague and the creation of the city, and continues with general medieval history and artefacts.

This museum traces the history of this area all the way back the 6000 years that Prague has been continuously inhabited. The many artifacts are extremely well displayed, from sculpture to tools, armor and hardware. Impressive.

Great museum covering various aspects of Prague's history and pre history. Loved the exhibition of photographs by Jovan Dezort. Entrance fee is reasonable, well worth a visit if in Prague.

Museum was closed for rehabilitation, which is necessary to preserve its amazing architecture.

Great little museum I only had 40 minutes so had to rush a little but it was neat. There are some gaps in history (500-900 ad), and even in the last 200 years it skips over some major events from room to room, worth it though. You have to get out of the correct metro exit (ne) or you can't actually get to the museum.

This museum is very difficult to reach, hidden by the bridge behind fastfood, but very well maintained. Not only the permanent objects, but the temporary very exciting shows as it is about homeless people in the city now and also about poor in the past. Highly recommend it.

Very underrated. A bit out the way but worth the visit. Well organised, interesting and comprehensive. Very affordable and worth the money, and not very busy. Definitely better than lots of the tourist trap museums in the old town.
