Very intriguing but dark place. Many exhibits and descriptions of torture. The sounds of the victims' suffering create a specific atmosphere of the Middle Ages. It's quite dark in the dungeons, but you can use the flashlight on your phone. Only the cashier lady should occasionally smile because she looks like a character from part of the exhibition.

I think the museum is super. The setting is terrifying, it's scary, especially if you go alone and there are no people in the museum, as it happened to me. The information is very detailed and impressive, it was a very intense experience.

The museum is up to date and even though it is not very big and takes 30-60 minutes to walk through, it is a good museum. Sometimes you have the feeling that someone will scare you. I really liked everything!

The paid part of the museum is located underground, so it has a proper climate. It was scary and interesting at the same time. In the background there are agony sounds from games like Gothic and they repeat really often, what can be irritating to some. The pile exposition wasn't working during my visit.

Absolutely loved it!. Kept me occupied from the neverending stream of tourists that you find in Prague. Never imagined that there could be so many ways of torture.

I LOVED this museum. No idea why it got so many 1-star reviews. It was really interesting and unique. Definitely worth a trip if you're looking for something off the beaten path.

A very nice, atmospheric Museum. Not too expensive, it's worth the money. Kids may find it a little scary. You get to see a lot of different, medieval torture Instruments.

It is horrifically atrocious in the way you want a museum of torture to be. The gentle sound effects of people being tortured really sets the atmosphere

It is pretty small, but it is a museum of existing torture devices in Europe so the content is limited. It is very dark with screaming and water dripping to simulate what prisoners go to. Use a flashlight from your phone as it is poorly lit. When reading the text it is some pretty intense things.

Went there during leisure time on a school trip in 2018 (I was 18). It was a fantastic, albeit short, experience. I did not have much time to view the exhibits, but there was generally a great atmosphere, all dark and spooky and stuff. It managed to achieve a pretty impressive sense of immersion by styling itself after medieval dungeons, with stone and wooden walls, prison cells, yellowish dim lights from candles and red from fires, as well as constant screaming. Unfortunately, the scream was unrealistic and so repetitive it ended up just being annoying and ruining the immersion instead of enhancing it. Most instruments were behind displays with written descriptions and explanations of how they worked, but many were visually depicted in framed drawings. And finally, a few got to show the deed in action with realistic human models. Said models were well made and surprisingly not really gory, even the ones that were dismembered. While I am glad that the exhibits were not reduced to some b horror gorefest, I still think that they were a bit too clean for a torture museum. The instruments themselves were incredibly fascinating, and it was truly wonderful I finally got to see them up close. There's also a nice little souvenir shop, where I bought a large ceramic skull mug :) Would definitely visit again given the chance, I definitely recommend it!

So cool, dark and interesting.
Some of the instruments can also be seen in Prague castle, in a more authentic/boring vibe.
Not a lot special here
A lot of witch hunting, burning, etc

Love this place! Great pieces and informational plagues in many languages. Takes about 44-60 min and fairly priced! Love it!

Dark, smelly, reeks of death and blood. It's very nostalgic.

Woman on desk should smile more. You'd think it was torture working there.

My wife caught her cane in a gap between the cobbles outside. I tried to find somebody to help but the beggar wouldn't listen he was too interested in feeding his dog.

One of Prague's craziest museums. I was with a friend and we happened to be alone down there. It was a crazy experience, I remember being so frightened to walk a meter just because of what I could possibly see. I'm a huge horror fan and, even though I acknowledge all these tortures are 100% based on reality and actual people suffered throughout the years, it felt like I was in a horror movie. It was a thrilling experience I'll never forget and, even though I saw it once, I'll probably visit again the next time I'm in Prague!

Interesting pieces of exhibits depicting ways of torturing people. Exhibition is rather short, set in dark and scary tone. Worth seeing if you're around or interested in the topic.
