Ivan Chef Casa

Whilst the casa was not in central Havana, we found ourselves in a lovely neighborhood with a wonderful restaurant around the corner from the casa which had a view of the city.
We loved the high ceilings in the room, the air con and pool.
Diana and Ariel were wonderful to talk with and looked after us very well.

A bit out of the center, but there's a great restaurant round the corner with a great view across the whole of Havana. Our stay was made by Ariel and Diana.

Great staff, the house is well-built, rooms are indeed (for the most part) soundproof. It's a good place to stay if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but unfortunately the neighbourhood that this house situates and has taken a turn for the worse over the years. It used to be a very high-end neighbourhood from back in the day, but it has degraded over the years. Having said that, do not let the aesthetics from the streets dissuade you from staying here. This is a very good hotel or bed and breakfast to stay in, whether it's for one night, or whole week. Elsa and her staff are absolutely amazing and do the best they can to accommodate whatever needs you may have.

Estuve hospedado en esta casa. Está un poco lejos de la zonas turísticas de la habana, sin embargo la casa está excelente! Tiene una decoración muy bonita y las habitaciones están impecables. Es una excelente opción si planeas descansar y disfrutar de las amenidades que te brinda la casa. También tengo que mencionar que el servicio y la atención que nos brindaron fue de muy buena calidad. (Ivan nos atendió de maravilla)

Wir waren vom 30.12.2019 - 06.01.2020 zu Gast bei Ivan. Vom ersten Augenblick an waren wir begeistert. Außer uns war nur ein weiteres Zimmer belegt, wodurch es exquisiter wirkte. Uns stand ein 24 Stunden Butler Sercive zur Verfügung. Der nette Herr (mit guten Englischkenntnisssen) und sein Kollege haben uns immer geholfen bei jeglichen Angelegenheiten ( Ausflüge, Informationen über Kuba, Info‘s zu Rum und Cigarren...)
Zum Empfang gab es Drinks und Snacks in sehr netter Atmosphäre im Innenhof. Der Innenhof ist klein aber fein. Mit einem Pool, Brunnen, Esstisch und einer überdachten Laube. Der Ort ist ruhig und super zum Entspannen geeignet, was eine gute Abwechslung zur belebten Innenstadt war. Das ganze Personal ist nett und zuvorkommend. Bei unserer Abreise kamen alle mit zur Eingangstür um uns zu Verabschieden.

Wir waren gegeistert von Ivan‘s Kochkunst. Wir haben uns an 2 Abenden von ihm bekochen lassen. Der beste Hummer den ich gegessen habe und auch eine spezielle Vorspeise aus kaltem Fisch in Zitronensauce. Ein Traum. Er ist ein sehr bekannter Koch in Havanna und besitzt 2 Restaurants im Zentrum. Dort verbrachten wir auch den Silvesterabend. Als Gast seines Hauses gab es 10% Ermäßigung. Sehr edel und lecker. Unbedingt einmal besuchen.
Im Zigarrenzimmer steht ein alter Tresor mit sehr guten Zigarren die man erwerben kann. Sogar Cohiba ciclo 5 😉. Frühstück ist gut und sehr reichhaltig.
In Ivan‘s Casa fühlt man sich eher wie ein Privatgast. Sie tun alles um es dir gut gehen zu lassen.
Der einzige Nachteil ist, das es ca. 20 Minuten vom Zentrum entfernt ist. Eine Taxifahrt beträgt ca. 20 CUC ( 20 €).
Aber dadurch hatten wir die Möglichkeit diesen eher nicht Touristen- Überlaufenden Stadtteil und dadurch das wahre Leben der Kubaner kennenzulernen, was uns sehr am Herzen lag.
Beim nächsten Besuch in Havanna sind wir definitiv wieder bei Ivan.

Danke Diana, Andy, Ariel, Mirexis, Tamara & the Poolboy für unseren tollen Urlaub hier in diesem schönen Haus. Wir kamen als Gäste und gehen heute als Freunde!
Auf der Suche nach Ruhe und Entspannung mitten im Einheimischen Viertel von Havanna ist man hier richtig! Wer Abends laute Musik und Party mag ist besser in Varadero aufgehoben !!!!
Aber für uns war es der perfekte Urlaub mit dem Restaurant Parrandas um die Ecke und in 10 Minuten in Old Havanna mit dem Taxi!

First, there are no TV's in any room. There is no entertainment, they charge you for every bottle of water, egg, anything. They give you 1 little thin jail blanket and they make you feel like you are in jail. They lock the doors, even to the pool area after 10pm until they get up the next morning. They rush you to come back to the hotel in the evening so they can lock up. There was nothing to do there, not even any music. There were no suggestion where to go for any night entertainment and it is far from any type of restaurants or food. They had no lunch nor dinner. I became sick because of the dust mites and the AC and left 2 days early. I had to go to the hospital soon as I got back. They would not refund the 2 nights I did not stay. I would not recommend this place unless you want to go somewhere to read all vacation. And, every night bats would fly around the pool. Also make sure you bring bug spray because the mosquitos or something will eat you up. I would never stay there again nor would i recommend this place to anyone.
