Surfari del Mar

Captain Jack & crew (Frecia, Maria) were fantastic! Our family of four had a private sunset sail with them. We saw amazing scenery, birds, and fish (when we had the opportunity to snorkel.) Maria prepared a yummy snack for everyone with fresh fruit. We really enjoyed not being on a boat filled with lots of people! It added to the serene, tranquil environment. As you can see, the sunset popped and we were even rewarded with an amazing double rainbow!! That doesn't happen every day but we were sure glad it happened for us. Don't hesitate to use Surfari del Mar, you won't regret it!!

This is the perfect private sailing experience for groups of 6 or less.
The new owner, Frecia, is a wonderful host and sailing captain. Her crew was fantastic as well.
We booked a sunset sail and loved this experience more than any other we had in Costa Rica.
The food and beverage offerings were perfect. The stop for swimming and snorkeling was perfect.
We would definitely come back to do this exact activity whenever we are in Guanacaste.

My family and I had a wonderful time with Sufari del Mar! Jack was an amazing host full of information about Costa Rica! We snorkeled in a great spot and were able to see a ton of fish and other creatures! Jack made us an amazing meal that hit the everyone raved about! We topped off the day with an amazing sunset! Everyone had a fantastic time! I'm excited to share this adventure with more of our friends and family in the future!

Wow, what an amazing sailing tour! Jack and his crew Merilla and Frecia took us on an amazing tour that was the highlight of our trip! The crew was very experienced and had plenty of knowledge to share with us about the surrounding areas throughout the day. We snorkelled with spotted eagle rays, pufferfish, and so many more beautiful schools of fish! They also made us an incredible lunch with fresh fruit, chicken tacos, and the best pico de gallo and salsa I've had in a while. I cannot get over how perfect this day was. I would 100% recommend a Surfari del mar to anyone who is looking for a unique and adventure-filled day in Costa Rica

This was my first time sailing. The Surfari crew know what they are doing and I felt at ease straight away.

The view from out in the ocean is spectacular. We stopped at one point for snorkeling, all of the equipment snacks and drinks were supplied.

The sailboat is beautiful and has everything you need.

Would I recommend that you go sailing with Jack and his crew? Without a doubt!

My family and I had a great experience sailing with Captain Jack & Mirella! We snorkeled a beautiful reef teeming with fish, kayaked to a secluded beach, and enjoyed delicious food onboard. The highlight was sailing back as the sunset!
It was my 8 year old son’s first sailing trip and he was a bit nervous at first but Captain Jack’s experience & Mirella’s calm demeanor set his mind at ease.

We had a wonderful day on Captain Jack’s sailboat! The food prepped by Mirella was absolutely delicious. We snorkelled, saw dolphins, and had a great time swimming in the ocean. It was simply a pleasure.

We had a great time out on the seas with Captain Jack. Jack and Mirella are experienced sailors. The lunch cooked up on the boat was delicous and the beer was ice cold. We saw sea turtles, dolphins and plenty of rays. We even caught a small tuna off the boat! After lunch we enjoyed some snorkeling. The day finished off with a beautiful sunset sail. Highly recommend a trip on board Surfari del Mar.

Our group of 8 sailed with Surfari del Mar on Jan 23. The boat was clean and comfortable with lots of room to move around. Even my elderly mother was comfortably settled by the helpful crew. We sailed under wind power and got to watch the crew tack and jibe and do all that sailing stuff. We stopped in a secluded cove to snorkel and saw a wide variety of fish, sea stars and turtles. We sighted dolphins and a whale spout. As we got underway again we were served a lovely meal of chicken tacos. We sailed back into Potrero Bay with Captain Jack serenading us accompanied by his guitar. The beautiful sunset as we dropped anchor was the perfect cap to a great excursion. We will be back!

We sent our daughter and some friends, they had a great time. They served lunch so the day was spent on the boat fishing. They brought back some tuna it was a great day spent!

Had an amazing day out on the water with Jack! We have been coming to Potrero for years and a tour with Jack is always a must do. Jack is a fantastic captain and guide. He is very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and the wildlife! He cooked up a delicious lunch and took us to an amazing snorkeling spot. There is so much amazing wildlife around - We saw sea turtles, jumping rays, tons of colorful fish and some dolphins. Food, drinks and all the gear is provided on the boat! Just come and have a great time with memories that will last forever! Thank you Jack!

Jack took us on one of the best sunset tours in Costa Rica. We were picked up on a small boat by one of his crew members at the Potrero beach. It was a short ride to the main sail boat. Highly recommend carrying as little as possible as they have everything on the sail boat. Crew members offered us cool cocktails on the boat. We had a wonderful time chatting with Jack while watching the dolphins swimming right by us. Snorkeling trip was so much fun. Thanks to Jack and his crew members for taking great pictures of us. The we went off to watch the sunset close to penca beach. On our way back, they caught a mackerel and fillet it for us. It was amazing!! Sunset was beautiful!! Such a great boat, captain and his crew members. Highly recommend the sail trip with Jack and his crew members.

Beautiful day for a Sail! Great crew and boat!tasty snacks & drinks! Captain Jack was very knowledgeable about the area. The beach and snorkeling were fun! Amazing sunset at the end of our cruise !

Captain Jack was great! On time, got us back by our shuttle time departure, knew a great deal about the area and history. He knew a really nice spot to snorkel. While sailing got to see a breaching humpback whale and large sea turtle. The lunch he prepared was delightful! I highly recommend him. We will be back.

Had an amazing time with Jack and Pablo. They took us up the coast to a small pristine beach for snorkeling and swimming, Jack was a great host providing delicious tacos and drinks and giving great stories about his life in Costa Rica and anecdotes about the local area. Pablo did a great job helping as well. Could not have asked for a better boat excursion on my vacation.

We had such a beautiful day with captain Jack! The tour is on a 42' sailing boat, very comfortable and with a lot of space for everyone to enjoy one of the most exclusive and amazing tour in the area.
Jack is an experienced professional sailor and really nice guy to talk with. If your lucky, you'll even have the chance to hear him singing and play guitar during the lunch!!
On our way to the snorkeling spot, we had the chance to see a couple of sea turtles and what about the thousands of fishes we saw during snorkeling! Even saw an octopus!! The water was so clear!

Captain Jack is the best! We had a great sailing experience and got some good underwater shots snorkeling. Jack’s wife is an unbelievable cook and made the most amazing meal for us while we watched the beautiful sunset. Captain Jack went out of his way to ensure we had the best experience, even later taking us out to see some of the bioluminescence of the waters. He truly goes above and beyond to make sure the experience is memorable. Would highly recommend!

Jack and his crew were amazing. Alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks were served in cups that don’t tip off when you leave them on the boat. The food is made while you are cruising and was delicious. Jack treats you like you are family. Will definitely do the cruise again. I have already recommended Jack’s Private sail boat to friends who live here. Snorkeling was fun too.

Had a great day sailing and snorkeling with Captain Jack. We saw two sea turtles, caught a fish and had a legit sailing experience. So nice to just cruise with sails up and motor off. Once at our snorkeling spot Captain Jack and his wife prepared very tasty chicken/mango tacos with probably the best fresh salsa and guacamole I have ever had. If you want a legit sailing experience with great food and snorkeling instead of a “booze cruise” on a motorized catamaran then Surfari Del Mar is your best bet.
