Cala Luna Boutique Hotel

Stayed here for a week in March 2024.
Place was super clean. Stayed in Villa. With a beautiful little private pool big enough for all 4 of us. Beds were above par and rooms were larger than expected.. the actual resort: the restaurant was good and nice tables out on the pool deck. Service was fine. Breakfast was good every day. Fresh fruits sealed the deal for me.. the walk to beach was short and sweet. Beach has both pure sand and rocks options with sunsets to die for... Ohh and waves, fun to jump in. Get a coconut from the lady that sells them there (she actually keeps them in a cooler so they are brisk and fresh). Front desk service was welcoming and did everything we desired. Will come back here for sure. Walk to Tamarindo was about 12 min. Nice surfer town with plenty eating options.

Such an amazing place. We loved the villa, the restaurant, the yoga classes, the resident cats and the breakfast. Tours arranged by the hotel were easy and great quality. The beach was gorgeous and just a short walk to Tamarindo beach if you want to swim or surf. Easy and relaxing trip that I would do again and again.

This hotel was beautiful, private, quiet, and everything that embodies perfect for a vacation getaway for a couple. My partner and I fell in love with the hotel, staff, spa, and food. Their responsibly sourced foods, farm to table culture, and environmentally forward approach was a huge PLUS for us!

We will be absolutely telling all of our friends to stay here and plan on coming back.

Spent four nights here in early December. It was just the right distance from downtown Tamarindo to get out of the congestion but still walkable to town. The room was very nice, the service was excellent, and the food as well. Missed the farm to table event they offer due to low attendance but I am told if you have the opportunity to do it, it is a great event. Definitely recommend Cala Luna if your travels bring you to Tamarindo.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cala Luna Origen Restaurant, and I must say, it was an absolute delight. This boutique hotel is a GEM! The spa is very special. I had a massage with Andrea and it was the BEST massage I ever had. I live local and will only go to her. She does a killer sound healing and yoga class as well. Worth staying here just for her! Book her you won't be sorry!

I love this place and can’t wait to go back. I took advantage of walking along the beach the hotel is on and of all of the energy work services they offer. The pool is a great place to relax and I especially loved the healthy food that didn’t compromise creativity and taste.

Best friend and I went to Costa Rica for a week and for the first few days stayed at Cala Luna. This boutique hotel is resort like amenities but within a quaint location and holistic like ambiance. Karol and her team are fantastic at accommodating needs and offering the highest level of service for their guests. We received communication weeks prior to our trip and Karol was able to help set up excursions, book travel needs etc. The hospitality and graciousness of the staff is unbeatable! We had the best time and can guarantee your Cala Luna experience will not disappoint. They offer complimentary breakfast, food is all healthy and delicious, pool is fantastic, rooms are AMAZING and they even have their own private beach. Place is phenomenal!!

My husband and I got married at Cala Luna and it was the best decision of our lives. Paola was an EXPERT at pulling the details together and integrating our family and friends into the experience. Our group was 24 people total and the hotel was accommodating whenever we wanted to do anything as a group. The place was separated and quaint enough where it was possible to group off and enjoy experiences as a couple without running into others. The restaurants and bar use fully organic ingredients and the food was OUTSTANDING!! The villas were spacious, all of the rooms were well equipped, and everyone agreed that it was a magical stay from start to finish. The employees quickly became friends and we will miss them dearly. Don’t wait to book your stay… we can’t wait to come back!

We enjoyed an amazing and memorable 4 night stay at Cala Luna. The setting is extremely tranquil and serene. The service and food were top notch. The location is great as it is a only a short walk to Tamarindo. Overall, I would return here without any hesitation.

We had a fantastic stay at Cala Luna. Arriving from
a few days in Nosara, we were glad we chose this tranquil resort away from the main Tamarindo party scene. Our room was modern and clean, with a fresh lemongrass scent greeting us after housekeeping visited our room to tidy up each day. The breakfast buffet was delicious with some unique local dishes each day and lots of options for veg and non-veg eaters. Staff was friendly and I had great surf lessons arranged through the hotel.

The rooms were a great size and always clean. The staff was friendly and helpful at all times, especially when we had questions about the town or activities. There is a taxi service, so if you’re worried about getting around there is a low cost service. The location is very close to the beach (~10 minute walk to a less rocky area) and the beach amenities like fishing and diving were great. We also brought the fish back to the hotel and the chefs made us great meals that were out of this world!

Our guests arrived hassle-free, and the resort's transportation team ensured that everyone felt welcome and comfortable right from the start. There are free bicycles and golf carts available for rent to take into Tamarindo to explore the local shop and restaurants. This attention to detail was greatly appreciated and set the tone for the rest of the celebration week.

Also, Cala Luna offers villas with private pools, and the large resort pool is open 24 hours, which made it nice for late night swims!

Just returned from our honeymoon stay and it was an incredible experience. We stayed in the Getaway Suite and the room was very modern and clean. The hotel in general is very well maintained. Best part of the hotel is the food quality!!! The chef there Ignacio (Nacho) really knows what he’s doing. We had the full board at the hotel which was very well worth it. Staff is amazing. Charlie provided us with amazing hospitality and our driver Jose was friendly and punctual. We would 100% return to this amazing hotel. Thank you Cala Luna staff for making our honeymoon unforgettable.
