This is located inside the National Park. Highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance and booking your time slot.

They offer guided tours or solo adventure. We went to the waterfalls and blue lagoon - roughly 3 miles of hiking.

Please note that you are not allowed to swim here, but there is a spot down the hill by the bridge where you can swim!

Beautiful place, gorgeous color of the waterfall and great hike! We took around 2.5 hours to cover everything (till the source where the waters mix) along with time to take pictures everywhere.
We also saw a tiny snake almost camouflaged in the trees (check photos!)

Pro tip: Buying tickets online helps you skip the line there!

Very touristy and easy hike to the base of the waterfall. Cannot swim in it and after visiting the fall you can continue your hike for another 1km to see the river and the viewpoint. Recommend going in the early morning to experience the beauty of the waterfall with less people.

This is one of the most beautiful things I have seen in any Parque Nacional.
Be mindful, you need to make a reservation before, online, at the official site for Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio. You choose the time you want to come. We went in the morning and when we came out the lines were very long and it was getting hot. I recommend going earlier.
The hike is not hard if you are used to hiking. I would say it is moderate difficulty but would be quite hard for people with knee or other mobility problems. The view of la Catarata is simply breathtaking. The walk all the way to La Teñideros, the place where the two rivers mixes and you see the color change, is a little more muddy and unkempt with lots of stepping over branches and things. It ultimately- everything was worth it to me. Such a lovely walk through the rainforest with unique views of the waterfall, view of the Volcán, and the water color change.

An amazing area! Saw so much wildlife including a Motmot, 4 species of snakes, coati, monkeys and lizards.
The hike to the waterfall was lovely, not a hard hike at all. And the reward of seeing the stunning blue waterfall! Wow!
Hike up to the Blue lake to see where the water turns, very beautiful!
Buy admission in advance if possible. There's a spot with wifi, but it still took me over 20 minutes to book. You need your passport number to enter in the booking.
Bring water, but not a plastic bottle, those aren't allowed in.
We took a leisurely 3 hours here, lots of stops for pix and videos and wildlife watching!
Parking was $5 USD.
There are shops and places to eat just outside the park.

My partner and I (ages 71 &74) found the hike to the falls very difficult. We thought we were in reasonably good shape but take the cautions about age and health very seriously. It was so hot and humid I had difficulty breathing and the pace set was very fast. Coming back was fine and we enjoyed seeing the sloths, got lucky to see one quite close and moving. Lunch was good and the coffee and cacao production was informative. Enjoyed the samples!

It was such a beautiful view! I never saw anything like this! Not swimmable. The last part of the hike is pretty steep! If one isn't in good shape it may be challenging going back up. But you can still see it from the higher point. On the way we saw a snake and a toucan! We also learned quite a bit about the jungle plants.

This place was amazing. I highly recommend Anthony for tours. He knows that jungle well l, and is very knowledgeable. Its a medium hike, not hard , but not easy imo. But well worth it .Anthony's what's app is +506 5003 7781.

Bucket list worthy hike to see beautiful blue pools and waterfall. Give yourself 3 hours, take your time to make it to the end of the trail to see the clear rivers turn to sky blue...unique. Wear good hiking shoes, tickets MUST be bought online before arrival. Go early and enjoy lunch at Restaraunt Tapirius, about .5 mile from entrance. Enjoy!

A beautiful place to visit. The park is extremely clean. The guards will not allow any plastic bags in. They will search your backpacks. Bring reusable water bottles as PET bottles will be removed.

Buy tickets online and DOWNLOAD them before even driving there. Internet signal is horrible and wifi is slow. Plenty of people could not download their tickets.

Nice trail, quite busy, but well groomed. Lots of stairs down to the waterfall, so be prepared. What goes down, must come up. A couple guides pointed out a few snakes along the way, well hidden, beautiful!
Afterward, there is a guy with a fruit stand, with cold Pipas!

Beautiful spot. I would do it again. I highly recommend doing the entire trail past the waterfall to where the river meets. You will see some amazing things. Maybe took 3 hrs total. The hike was moderate to difficult. Lots of ups and downs but worth it.
I highly highly recommend leaving an extra hour or 2 to swim in the river about 2 km down the road at the bridge. That was our favourite part and it was free. Just park at the side of the road to swim there. The water is so blue it’s unreal. The restaurant at the front was really good and decent price for lunch.

Beautiful - like in photos, but don’t forget 250 steps down and 250 up. Road like other parks - very bad. You need a VUS. It is forbidden to enter the water. You can go 1 km and you can go into the river but it’s very slippery. Buy the tickets in advance. Only electronic tickets. WiFi is not good on place.

The waterfall is gorgeous. There is a lot of hiking you can do here, unfortunately my group only went to the waterfall.
If you go to the waterfall, be prepared for stairs. You can see it nicely from about half way down the stairs, but it is beautiful to go all the way. The stairs may be challenging for people who have injuries. You can stand to the side though and take breaks.

Absolutely beautiful! The park was easy to find, parking was plenty and affordable. It's definitely worth the descent and climb back up (although I was out of breath & had to take several breaks 😅).
There are public restrooms available for use when you pay your admission fee.
Park closing was advertised as 2pm, I believe that is for last entry. We arrived at 12:30 and were back at our car at 3pm.
Bring sunscreen, insect repellent and water, a small towel for wiping off sweat is good too.

Great hike, there's a decent amount of stairs down to the waterfall, but I thought it was totally manageable. Absolutely gorgeous water and waterfall, well worth the trip.
Going the other direction to the Mirador and to the end was very enjoyable as well. Pretty muddy, so bring suitable shoes. Decent amount of stairs this way as well, but nothing too killer.
These pictures are after days of on off raining.

Absolute must see!! It's worth the parking and entrance fee. Trail is well maintained and even had a worker cleaning the stairs of leaves. Trail goes from cement to dirt/rock, crosses tiny creeks, and then stairs. I recommend bringing water and a snack and closed toe shoes as your feet may get wet. Can get rugged at times. Lots of foliage on the hike. Visited May 3rd.

Traveled in early November and it was thankfully not crowded. Booked as a tour through hotel, which was top notch. Can certainly do this on your own though and rentacar to save some coin.
The hike is as strenuous as you want to make it. The stairs are as you need to expect, a bunch down, and a bunch back up. Spouse and I are not in active fit shape, and made it fine...our legs however are still sore two days later, so think about that for subsequent days.

Go earlier, as the microclimate of this region can be dynamic. We had pretty skies, and bybtime we started our adventure uo said stairs, it began to rain and then pour, by 11. You will not have a nice blue water photo in heavy rain. Ponchos are sold at bottom, or bring a rain jacket. And water!

Waterfall is breathtaking and awesome to take in. Hope you have a great experience as we did.
