Excellent guided experience by Erbin through a beautiful cacao farm.
So many other fruits and crops they explain along with cacao.
Coconut trees, pineapple, banana, and so educational about each fruit.

Outstanding guide of chocolate making from cacao pod to chocolate bar.
Highly recommend this experience.
Only $18 US per person.
They have a gift shop and chocolate from the farm is available for purchase.

This was a great tour! You'll learn so much and see walking trees!!! You'll taste a bunch of things and see the process of chocolate !! The guide we had was so patient with our kid's one million questions. He was so full of information. You'll even see a 300 and 400 year old tree!

Holy cow go do this tour!!! Don’t even blink or breath before committing 🤩😍 I’ve been on many tours in Costa Rica. This was fun, informative, delicious, playful, memorable and all around just an amazing time.

My partner and I don’t speak fluent Spanish at all but can get by for the most part. Surprisingly we went on a Spanish tour and got along just fine! We went with the amazing guide Gerardo, he was patient with us anytime we didn’t understand and I think only took us on the tour with him because we mostly understood what he said in the first few minutes of talking to us.

Don’t wanna spoil the tour for you so I’ll mainly say that in the 1.5 hour tour my mind was blown many times over! So so many plants he showed up from medicinal to edible to playing around with type of plants. Guaranteed you’ll learn something new if not MANY things!

Saw a gorgeous toucan & howler monkeys. Tried delicious sugar cane water with a lil extra something you might get to try if you’re over alcohol drinking age 🤪. Also of course the cacao in so many different ways! For skin, hair & lips. For chewing, snacking & drinking. Just absolutely astounded the way these folks utilize the cacao plant.

No more thinking or reading! Go do this tour! And if you speak Spanish or can understand Spanish at least kind of then ask for Gerardo 😎💯

Enjoy!

Such a wonderful, amazing, fun and memorable experience! Ervin was our tour guide, and his knowledge of and passion for Costa Rican nature and speaking English (which he did very well) really made this tour special. We tasted hot peppers, black pepper, stevia, lidocaine, coconut, cacao, and much more. We saw a mama sloth with her baby, several toucans, chickens, lizards, and other birds on the plantation. The tour was very educational yet FUN, and a treat for all 5 senses. It was our FAVORITE tour of all the tours we took during our two weeks in Costa Rica in Dec 2023. We will definitely come back on our next trip. Thank you Chocolate Tree Tours!

We showed up at 3pm with a group of 9 and were immediately accommodated at a reasonable price. We had a great time on this tour. So informative and interesting and diverse. You get to see and try so many different plants, not just cacao. It’s a beautiful walking tour through the plantation for about an hour and a half with plenty of stops along the way.

We drive to Chocolate Tree because our hotel recommended it. It’s about a 20 min drive from Bijagua and well worth it. Our tour guide, Alex, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, kind and always looking out for us and our interests. We learned so much more than about cacao and chocolate. We learned about dozens of plants, spices, smells and traditional remedies. We tasted and smelled local herbs of all kinds. This was one of the highlights of our trips. We loved our time with Alex and the brief visit with the owners!

Really fun tour- perfect for families. Our guide Luis took us on a 1h 30 tour of the property, showing us all sorts of trees, plants and bugs - coconut, cinnamon, citronella, black pepper, coffee and many others including (of course) cacao. We then learned how the cacao is harvested and processed to become chocolate before tasting a chocolate drink and some samples of chocolate bars. A wonderful tour

A really nice experience.. Highly recommended tour, super interesting, I learned too much things more than cacao that I didn't know. The guide tour was amazing and explained the things very good and clearly. If you like hiking, learning new things and nature, this is your place!!. You cannot miss this place.. It is beautiful here!!... I'm from this area and I didn't realize the beauty of it.. I come back very happy to my house.

This tour was filled learning about chocolate production and so much more. The guide shared information about the different plants on the farm and how each can be used to make our lives better.
We drank coconut water, saw vanilla plants and learned how long it takes to make the vanilla we use in baking, and of course we learned all about the chocolate-making process.
I highly recommend this tour!

This was a HUGE highlight of my 8 day trip to Costa Rica and it was greatly due to Luis!!! He was so funny, knowledge and just overall exceptional at what he does! If I ever go back, I would make it a point to visit again! The tour was so detailed and comprehensive. We learned not only about how cacao is made, but about so many plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables, herbs, chocolate (coconut, vanilla, pepper, banana, pineapples, incense, sleeping plants, shampoo plants, just to name a few).....so many great things to taste, smell, see and feel. We saw toucans, frogs, bats, snakes, bullet ants, we swung on a huge swing in the middle of the rainforest, saw one of the oldest and tallest trees.....the list goes on and on! The chocolate shake drink they served was amazing, I wish so badly I could take some home!

I can't emphasize enough how wonderful Luis was. He has such a huge personality and passion for what he does. My family also greatly appreciated how wonderful he was with my mother who has some health issues. He made sure to check on her, take breaks when needed and even walked arm and arm with her to support her. Luis if you are reading this THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! This was such a memorable experience for so many reasons!!!

Wow! What a great tour! The tour guide was amazing! So good with the kids. So much to see and learn about where chocolate comes from. It borders the rain forest so there is an abundance of wildlife and plants, many of them used for medicinal purposes. The walk is easy and so much fun. Worth the trip just for the chocolate milk drink at the beginning.

A local place with all the facilities for a bigger crowd - but very happy I was the only one booked on the tour I did, so I had a guide all to myself. $18 for the tour, and worth every cent.

Great to see the chocolate farming and making process, and being in the jungle for part of the tour meant seeing birds, bats and a monkey.

We had a great, educational experience at Tree Chocolate Tour. Our guide Alex spoke excellent English and Spanish and was incredibly knowledgeable. We loved learning about the cacao as well as all the other plants and fruits growing on the farm. The chocolate was delicious. We're so glad we visited and definitely recommend if you're looking for a chocolate tour in the area.

Very nice and interesting tour from Alex. It was not just a tour around the cacao plants but also a tour through the whole farm and letting us try all different types of herbs, fruits and vegetables. It was by far one of the best things we did this trip. Also a very nice souvenir shop with hand made products.

WE cannot say enough about this tour! SO cool to see cacoa flowers, plants then roasted pods and ground chocolate! We tasted what we ground! And our tour guide was amazing!!! We cannot remember his name (So sorry!) but he has been at the farm for years - knows all sorts of plants - even lidocaine - and he was SO interesting! Great afternoon - it was just my husband and I but kids would be fascinated! This is REAL Costa Rica!

This is by far the best tour I have been on. Joshua was a great guide and showed us so many different plants and seemed to enjoy showing the place. When we stopped we figured it was just a chocolate tour with samples but it is so much more, we learned tons and laughed a lot.
