Our first meal in Costa Rica completely not planned. Walking around Escalante, we saw this wonderful place, top service and staff-- and the food is very special. Thank you Priscilla for such kind hospitality and the warm welcome to San José! We will be coming back! ❤🇨🇷🇨🇷

Both the server and owner were very friendly and gave an above and beyond experience. The atmosphere is so cute, it feels like you’re eating in your grandmas kitchen. I had the gnocchi and it was absolutely amazing. Finished with the brownie desert that includes home made ice cream. Best meal I’ve eaten in Central America so far.

One of the best family owned restaurants I have ever been. The food was amazing and had a lot of soul and history behind. Farm to table produce was amazing. The owner of the restaurant is awesome person. I felt like home there. The service was amazing. Highly recommended. Will definitely be back.

I have had the most amazing food experiences at La Bodega. Every dish, soup and salad was a new mouth watering, soulful experience. Because the restaurant is closed on the weekends (I am happy they take time off) I purchased several meals including apple pie shaped like an apple with homemade ice cream (I have not eaten yet due to all the food I ordered to go) that I’m looking forward to eating later today.
I have to tell you that the Spinach soup, Egg Plant lasagna and Gnocchi is so delicious, I am trying to figure out how I can get these dishes after I leave Monday afternoon.
The only thing disappointing about the food is the bottom of the bowl/empty plate. You will not be disappointed.
The atmosphere of this wonderful restaurant is warm, friendly and truly interested in conversations with their patrons and always happy to see you.

This is the best restaurant in Escalante, a neighborhood in Costa Rica's capital city, San Jose.

This was one of my favorite lunches in San José. I got recommended this place by someone who follows me on Google maps, so I had no idea what to expect. I am so grateful because this lunch made me incredibly happy and satisfied. The environment and decoration is beautiful, and the food was magical. It brought me back to my childhood in Europe. I can't wait to be back ❤

I just had a lovely very late lunch/very early dinner here last evening, and it was by far the best meal I have had in a very long time. The flavors for every dish were wonderful - from salad to gnocchi to the Islas Flotatas - all so well done.

In fact, I may go back today for another meal - why go anywhere else? Tatiana and Conny are wonderful - it was a privilege to spend a bit of time with them. La Bodega is San Jose's best-kept secret - wonderful food, served with abundant kindness and a lovely atmosphere. The hours are limited, but absolutely worth shifting your day around to have a meal here. Do not miss this place!

All dining experiences should be as wonderful as this! An intimate setting with friendly staff and deliciously fresh and homemade food using fresh ingredients from their own garden. The owner took time to take our order, make reccomendations and make us feel like we were really just having lunch at our Nana's house! A quality meal, a cosy atmosphere and a memorable experience all up!

WOW this was amazing. Best cinnamon rolls EVER and the islas flotantes are homemade and taste even better paired with cinnamon roll. The owner is a retired english teacher who is following her dreams to be a baker, and I couldn’t support her enough! Hands down best spot in San Jose.

My favourite place in Costa Rica for lunch. The salad is out of this world and the apple pie is on par with your mothers. Treated like a prince and fed like a king.

The food is amazing and so are the people working there! The gnocchi is gluten-free and delicious. My partner enjoyed her pasta salad as well. Best restaurant experience in Costa Rica so far. Highly recommend!

お店の内装がとても素敵でした。案内された席も個室感があり、のんびりゆっくり食事を楽しむことができました。
お店の方々はみんな親切で、お料理について丁寧に説明してくれました。スープ、サラダ、ニョッキ、デザート、コーヒーをいただきましたが、どれも美味しかったです！サラダとニョッキは2,3人でシェアできる量がありました。
またすぐにでも行きたくなる、大好きなお店になりました！
