Absolutely one of the greatest experience we had during our trip in Costa Rica. Alejandro, local guide and person who grew up in this beautiful place, shared the best of his knowledge and interesting facts of the area. Being super passionate about this place he brought us to the waterfall, where we could refresh ourselves. Place is absolutely stunning. And not crowded as many touristic destinations. Thank you Alejandro. Highly recommended! Go with the tourguide and you will have the best of it …. :)

Amazing experience. Alejandro is an awesome guide, he had answers to all of our questions. He showed us around the whole area, which is under the care of his family. He built the trail himself. The hike is easy but still adventurous, everybody can do it.
Highly recommended!!

This place is a beautiful hidden paradise! Medium difficulty hike down the side of a hill to see and wade in beautiful waterfalls. Very very friendly family that owns and operates this gem. Perfectly location to see from a short (1hr) trip from la Fortuna or Monteverde, we stopped on our way, delicious nachos after the hike. We'll worth the stop and worth the trip out to see.

My husband and I first visited in January 2023. We were so in love with this place that we came back in 2024!! We stayed in Monteverde, only a 45-minute drive from there. We opted for the guided tour AGAIN through the waterfalls and horseback riding trails. I can honestly say that this was one of the most beautiful places we have ever visited!! The tour guide, Alejandro was the best! He was so patient and knowledgeable as he taught us so much about the history of the land, waterfalls, animals, flora, and fauna. The further you venture down the waterfall, the more expansive the views become, allowing you different views of the waterfall itself. This was only my second time riding a horse…initially, I was afraid, but he quickly made me comfortable and knew exactly which horse would take care of me 😊. So many unbelievably beautiful views…hard to pin down, which was my favorite. After we completed our tours, we had lunch in the reception area, where his wife had prepared a delicious meal for us. I can honestly say this was one of our favorite stops in Costa Rica. Unlike any other…we WILL return SOON! Not only
was the waterfall amazing, but the surrounding landscape was breathtaking from start to finish. During the time we spent there, we experienced such a warm feeling as if we were a part of the family. Each tour is individualized as Alejandro took his time to cater to the needs of each visitor. This was one of the most economical and exciting activities we have experienced in Costa Rica. We would DEFINITELY recommend this establishment… YOU WILL NOT REGRET!
Alejandro and family…until we meet again… PURA VIDA AMIGOS!!!

The most pretty and wonderful waterfall. We were on a guided tour with Alejandro. He was nice he knew all about the area and we saw a lot of animals. We were on a trip with the horses to and the horses was nice and it seemed like they had a good living area👍

Wow! This was a favorite activity of ours while in Costa Rica and my husband and I both agreed we would fly back just to do this waterfall tour with Alejandro again! If you’re contemplating the self guided tour vs guided, go with guided! Alejandro welcomes you onto his family owned property and knows every inch to show you. He took us behind one of the waterfalls and again, if you’re contemplating whether to do it or not, DO IT! First, the experience is amazing, but being cooled off on the hike back was an added bonus. Alejandro treats you as if you’re family and we can’t wait to come back and do the waterfall tour again but also his horseback tour!

WOW. Our air bnb host recommended this place and we are beyond happy that we did it! We chose the horseback riding tour and lucked out to have it be just the two of us. The ride had the most breathtaking views. Our guide Antonio was very attentive to our level of comfortability on the horses. When we got to the top of the falls, we dismounted and took hike down into the valley. The waterfall was huge and had 4 different pools we could visit. Antonio showed us how to go back behind the falls which was exhilarating! Once we hiked back up to the horses, our guide sliced open a fresh watermelon and passed around slices - heavenly. The horse ride back to the starting point was fun - we even did a little galloping. And to top it all off, the family has a little restaurant so we were able to have a tasty lunch. What an incredible experience!

HIDDEN GEM!!! ❤🌊

We stumbled across this hidden gem driving back to our AirB&B from MonteVerde. This family run business is full of the most genuine and kind people you could meet. We were given a ride through the rolling hills to the entrance of the waterfall hike. The hike is so beautiful and simplified by the steps put in over the terrain. We had a family of monkeys show us around haha. And a little hummingbird came to say hello too.
The WATERFALLS are stunning!! Alejandro kept us entertained with stories and showing us through the pools where tricky spots might be to step in the water and how to walk behind the falls. It was an absolute perfect way to end our day. The sun had started to set turning everything gold and lit up on our way back. A real life jungle book experience!!!

Was such an amazing experience. Sandra was so nice and friendly. She showed and talked about the meanings of the petroglyphs. Also the waterfall trail was so cool! Was able to swim and go under the waterfall. You need a 4x4 to get here!.

We weren't sure if we should stop on our first time in Costa Rica... SO glad we did. This was a highlight of our trip! Alejandro and his family are welcoming and friendly, and the immediate and broader location is stunningy beautiful. We were taken to the carved rock (3500 yrs old!) before hiking the set of 4 waterfalls unguided. Hammocks, planted flowers and hiking sticks at the start of the hike are nice bonuses. The waterfalls are awesome and you're right alongside them starting at the top and hiking down to the rest (and back up again after). This is private property and the only way to see the rock and falls is through this tour, just $15/adult.

We ate lunch onsite afterwards. Traditional Costa Rican food and cold beers. Lunch was delicious and fresh in a quiet, relaxing spot where we were offered wildlife identification books to figure out what we saw on our hike (golden heron, cecilian, a toad, a group of howler monkeys).

Don't miss out on this stop on your trip!!

A wonderful and educational hike. The waterfalls were absolutely gorgeous and so much fun to swim in. The forest is amazingly dense and diverse. And our guide Alejandro was so nice, fun, and informative. He really knows the area, wildlife, and plant life. Also it's all on him and his family's land and you can tell how much they love it. This is an absolute must for a half day adventure.

So happy we stumbled upon this place. Beautiful waterfalls off the beaten path. They provided transportation to the waterfall hike with stunning views of the countryside. A beautiful hike through the jungle to get to the waterfalls. Lots of stairs. But a refreshing swim at the bottom. Alejandro was a super host. We ordered food to recharge after the hike and it was delicious home cooked food. Highly recommend!

So glad we stopped here on our way from La Fortuna to Monteverde! You can pay at the office to do it on your own or pay extra for a guide. We opted for the guide and Alejandro, whose family owns the property, accompanied us, including driving us in his truck to the trailhead. Along the trail, we saw monkeys, a snake, toucans, and a frog. Other than the animals, we had the trail to ourselves which made for a more authentic and intimate experience with nature and the beauty of Costa Rica than the other experiences we’d had on the trip. Our almost 4 yr old got our help on the way down but hiked mostly on his own on the way up/out. It took us 2+ hours, but it can be done quicker if needed.

We had not booked a reservation ahead of time, but I probably would recommend doing so to ensure availability of the guide, if that’s your preference.

Thanks for a memorable experience, Alejandro!

My family and I visited La Piedra del Indio Waterfalls in early August 2023. We pulled up to the restaurant, had time to change, and were very quickly escorted to the waterfalls themselves. When we got to the trail head, Alejandro asked if we preferred to go on our own or if we wanted him to accompany us. We did not hesitate to take him up on his offer and even though they offer the self-guided option, TAKE THE GUIDED TOUR! Alejandro was a WONDERFUL guide. He educated us on the flora and the fauna of the region. He pointed out things that we would not have seen on our own. He shared stories from his childhood. Alejandro was a fun and informative guide and we appreciate that he and his family have opened up this beautiful spot to share with us.

This place is a MUST SEE in Costa Rica. There's everything you could hope for. 4 awesome waterfalls, a great hike, a great family runs it who's family has been there for over 100 years, monkeys, sloths, and a 3800 year old petroglyph. Oh yeah, lunch in their restaurant was amazing. Take the "guided tour" and you'll learn a LOT. You'll see way more too

My partner and I drove up on a beautiful morning. 4x4 allowed us to drive down with the local guide to the parking and trail area for the waterfalls. Beautiful. Superb. Very few other people. Excellent swim and dip under falls. 10/10!

The most beautiful waterfall we have seen so far in Costa Rica. A nice hike down with the opportunity for a quick bath at the end. We totally recommend :)

We were really surprised by these waterfalls that we didnt see in any guide.
Alejandro is really great, explains you about « El piedra del Indio », and takes you with him to the waterfalls if you want. DO IT! He is amazing, me and my friend had one of our highlights of Costa Rica this afternoon with him. The waterfall is wonderful and enormous, we saw like 20 monkeys there.
Really a hidden gem we can’t recommend enough !!

This day was a highlight of our trip! Alejandro is a fabulous guide and the whole family is charming and so kind. We were a bit hesitant to leave our car with our luggage, but we had nothing to fear. This family is amazing and we had a fabulous time at the falls. We did the self guided tour and enjoyed, but we didn’t see as much as we would have otherwise. Alejandro drove us down to the trail and while we were with him he showed us a toucan and a huge iguana. I highly recommend doing the guided tour! We enjoyed a delicious lunch with an amazing view. I can’t recommend it enough.
