Lita Caribbean food

I visited Rita an hour after landing in San Jose, being very hungry and tired. I immediately felt better just by sitting at the table, the energy that the place has is really vibrant! Diego, my server was SO sweet and friendly, immediately made me feel like home and took really good care of me. He recommended I try a traditional natural drink which brought me back to life! I had the reposteria with beef and an amazing spicy sauce on the side and I also had the incredible chifrijo with pork - you have to try it, you will be forever missing out if you don't ! Such a beautiful experience, can't recommend enough!!

We had a great experience here! Diego was very helpful and the food was amazing! I highly recommend the casada vegetariano for any non meat eaters, the salsa was incredible. The chifrijo with pork was also amazing. Can't recommend this place enough. The price was also very reasonable.

I found Lita Caribbean Food on Google while my wife and I were in San Jose for vacation. We wanted to try the local cuisine. The food was fresh and amazing, the drinks were absolutely delicious, but above that, our server Diego was a delight, he made our visit absolutely amazing. Thanks Diego, thanks Lita Caribbean Food

This place is run by chef Diego (Lita’s son) and his wife Lina. The chefs in this place rock! The food is simple, yet classy and tasty. Pure passion in the cooking here! The portions are more than adequate. With Lina greeting the guests, the dining experience is amplified. My wife being born in the Caribbean (St. Thomas), was floored by the red snapper and rice and beans. She also tried a delicious fish soup. I had the tilapia, and my son had the red snapper as well. We also tried some wings for a starter. The sweet and sour sauce was tasty and inventive. We also tried a warm dessert of cut plantains and sweet milk. We will be here a week, but will definitely go back to sample more of this delicious food. Lita’s does not disappoint!

Omg this place is awesome! We came here for dinner, super hungry and exhausted after our trip from Monteverde.
At first the drinks - we tried the melon and guanabe drinks/smoothies and both tasted very fresh and soo yummy! We both ordered the plantain baskets with shrimp (& chicken). Both were amazing! The rich and unique flavours were incredible and the combination of salad, chips and these tarts was exactly what we needed. In addition, the owner were super nice and helped us choosing the right dish!

Even though it did not look too much, the portion are big and we could not fit a desert afterwards.

Me and my husband found this place on our honeymoon and were amazed. The food was so flavorful and the waitress was so nice, she even gave us a special dessert to go because of our honeymoon. The ceviche was the best I’ve had, loved that they added thyme. Highly recommend!

Amazing restaurant, with delicious and fresh food. The service was great. Lita the owner was our waitress. Super friendly and welcoming. Spoke English and had English menus. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

Great Caribbean food. The place is very small, but they put a lot of heart into what they do. Food has the right level of spice, and they elevate their dishes beyond the traditional. The dessert was amazing. Best Caribbean food I tried so far.

I loved the food here. The rice and beans is really tasty. The menu has some creative options, as the caribbean chifrijo (highly recommended) and the "canastas" made of patacones. The place is very small but the service is very kind and friendly, they always have pati and nice typical caribbean drinks. They offer delivery and it's very easy to pay with sinpe or cash. I wish I had visited this place earlier.

Wow! My first lunch in San José, and Lita's was wonderful. Caribbean rice and black bean dishes are the house specialty, and I chose the camarones (shrimp) version. The accompanying salad was great, as was the fresh pineapple juice. Very efficient and friendly service, and very reasonably priced. Lita easily merits five star ranking, but of course, taste for yourselves.

One of the best rice & beans ever. Good music and ambiance. It took me to the Caribbean while eating lunch. Can't wait to come back!

Lovely casual family restaurant. Very affordable. They do have a highchair for kids. The Wife manages the front of house with her whole heart. Husband chef whips up great local Costa Rican cuisine. Serves beer and non alcoholic drinks. Located in a safe residential area, walking distance from the Marriott Hacienda Belen.

The waitress was so incredibly kind! We experienced amazing service and the food was sublime.

Delicious food! We especially loved the costados which comes with protein and rice and beans and plantains. The sauce on the rice and beans are out of this world! We liked it so much, we came back a second time before flying back.

We were recommended this place by locals at the Marriott in La Hacienda. The food was delicious, we tried their patties stuffed with meat, as the main dish rice and beans with the chicken and pork ribs in a Caribbean sauce, for drinks the pineapple and starfruit juice and my husband had agua de sapo ….. omg everything was amazing. Great experience a must when in Heredia, Costa Rica.
