Soda La Macha

Amazing spot!!! This is a quintessential small-town Costa Rican soda (local diner). Great food. Fun location next to a small river with a pedestrian bridge. The family that runs the soda are warm, welcoming people. Will definitely return next time we’re near lake Arenal.

Great stop for lunch or breakfast 🍳 We loved seeing the monkeys around the trees while having breakfast. Breakfast is fresh and abundant. Also they give you a whole pot of coffee.

We went here for breakfast everyday we were here! Marisol was so kind and made the best food! Both my husband and I agreed that hers were the best rice and beans we’ve had while in Costa Rica. The pineapple juice and orange juice were so good - no need to add sugar! Plus it was a really pretty setting - we saw two iguanas :)

Had the chicken in salsa while listening to the relaxing river at soda La Macha. The owner is a kind and patient lady thank you for everything!

One of the best meals we had in CR. The family who run it are so friendly. We parked on the road, walked across the little footbridge and relaxed. Bring cash as their credit card processing software is spotty.

Beautiful location, friendly welcoming service (the owner) and delicious home style Tico food. The riverside location is truly special.

One of the best sodas I’ve experienced! The Casado with chicken it’s just super good, lemonade is tasty and the lady owning the place just amazing. High recommendation!

Que delicia! We stumbled on to this soda by luck on our way to our next Costa Rican city, we are so happy we did. Very typical food, and all of it was delicious also reasonably priced. My husband and I agreed, it was our favorite meal of our 7 day trip.

Amazing food, friendly owner, and peaceful clean place by the ravin. She asked us if we wanted sugar in the juice, and the juice was so fresh and no sugar!

First time eating at a SODA. This place will go down in our memories as the best SODA in all of Costa Rica. We tried several since eating here and we are realizing how spoiled we got when we ate at La Macha! Loved the way the plantains were prepared.
