Sabanero Steak House

The restaurant has an amazing vibe and the staff are superb. As always, the food is delicious and most of all it’s made with fresh ingredients. The salad was so simple and tasty. The combination of avocado, heart of palm, artichoke, cucumber on a bed of lettuce was a delight to the palate.

A fantastic dining experience. The staff were friendly and attentive and the place is very nice! The room is elegantly furnished and the tables and chairs are cozy. Upscale and intimate.

I started with a Spicy Maracuyá, which the waiter made himself with a jalapeno-infused tequila (Jarana). Perfectly balanced between spicy and sweet (passion fruit).

After we ordered, they brought us a freshly baked mini loaf of bread (still warm!) with a herb butter.

For the main, the Parrillada Sabanero. Basically a BBQ platter of several different meats. All of it was cooked to near perfection (a tiny bit too much charring on the chorizo, but I'm really being picky). Sublime.

Wonderful food. Best we’ve eaten at the resort. Our steaks were cooked perfectly. The menu is limited but top quality. Wonderful environment and excellent service!

The food and overall service was phenomenal. For appetizers we ordered the grilled lettuce Salad, the seashells and the provolone fondant. For our main course we ordered the sabanero burger and the lomo fino. The meats were cooked to absolute perfection and the server even asked us to cut the meat to confirm we liked the temperature. Highly recommend this restaurant! It was definitely worth it.

We had a great experience. The food was excellent and the service outstanding.

Dennis our server went above and beyond with our dinner reservation. He recommended the Costa rican filet mignon. It was to die for! The provolone cheese appetizer was mouth watering, Dennis was very attentive and pleasant with our experience. We sat outside absorbing the romantic ambience and the homely atmosphere. Dennis was so kind that he even offered us desert on the house. I highly recommend this place.

Good food and friendly staff.Located inside marriott with a nice menu. Bit expensive but quality is awesome.

Food and service was great. Our waiter was very attentive, made great menu and dessert selections.

Located at JW resort. Good atmosphere and food, was not disappointed but a little expensive, then again it's on a vacation resort.

We dined here on a Tuesday evening; we were greeted and seated promptly.
Just as the rest of the hotel, this restaurant decor follows the Hacienda feel; calm and soothing.
The service was good, and attentive.
For starter we ordered the Grilled Caesar Salad, we found it to be overcooked, and salty.
My main course, Grilled Chicken, a bit dry but of good flavor.
My companion ordered the Tomahawk, a good cut, well prepared.
We shared the side dishes; Mashed Potatoes, and Plantain with Cheese, both were great choices. We enjoyed those very much.
All the dishes had a good presentation.
Did not find the items overpriced as stated in other reviews.

I spent a heavenly weekend at this resort 3-4 years ago. We enjoyed this restaurant on three occasions. I am on this site tonight in search of the chorizo sandwich I have been craving since the first bite. What was in there? I know it was lovely fresh made bread and spicy sausage but what else? After reading some reviews I wish to mention our waiter was very attentive and all food was worthy of praise. The Asian restaurant upstairs was our first choice and we did not repeat that mistake. Breakfast buffet in the large dining hall is in my top three breakfast experiences of my life. Excellent! If only I could live there!

My meal was delicious, the steak was cooked perfectly. There were others in our party that had their steaks way undercooked.

Dining there was way too complicated. Trying to figure the price of menu items plus the supplementary which was difficult to explain for the waiter.
Salads ordered which we thought would come out as appetizers before entrees came out with the entrees. One person in our party did not receive his steak until most of us were done with our meals. Waiter forgot to put his steak order in. My guest did not want it, or eat it because how late it was served. but they would not take it off bill. They offered to credit 1 cocktail. Food quality was pretty good. Drinks were very good.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

They sat our party of nine at two tables oh 7 and 4. They put is outside where we had to contend with gigantic flying grasshoppers and other large exotic bugs. They did not take a drink order until we asked them to take a drink order. Medium rare filet mignon was served very well done. Our children got totally freaked out by the flying bugs and the adults weren't very comfortable either. If you go sit inside, don't get filet mignon, and drink heavily before you arrive. Your be better off going into town and eating at a local place than paying up for bad food bad service and bad atmosphere.

As someone who is loyal to Marriott, this place was an absolute disaster. I had called previously to ask about gluten free options and was assured that there would be nothing to worry about. Everything that they told me would be gluten free had gluten in it. They served me ice cream on top of cake, where the chef told me it’s gluten free when it was not. They have no understanding of allergies or feel the need to be responsible when serving to somebody who has an allergy. The food was awful, the service was awful and I feel like for a bill over 200$ that it is the worst restaurant experience I ever had in my life. After 30 years of being a Marriott vacationer this will change my mind when it comes to planning my next trip..
