Camping Avellanas

We didn’t camp there- but rented boards from Otto. He was really nice. Spoke good English and his boards were in really good condition. This has been our favorite surf beach so far after a few days in Tamarindo.

Otto is amazing and will teach you to surf! His family is also incredibly nice and hospitable. There is so much wildlife here - iguanas, hermit crabs, sea turtles. I would come back again and again! Thank you Otto and your family! And your puppies!

Cold showers/mostly primitive camping. Perfection.

Gracias to Otto for making our stay here so comfortable. Absolutely perfect location on the beach. All the facilities you need. Spend a few days here!

Very disappointing based on previous reviews. The campsite is significantly changed as many of the photos in previous reviews don't match. The plot has been greatly reduced by a fence to make way for a house nextdoor. Camping is basically on the edge of a very messy back garden with rubbish and kids' toys strewn everywhere. The only toilet stank and the showers were disgusting (again not clean like in previous reviews). At $40, way overpriced. There was a guy smoking very strong skunk at the entrance which is all you could smell in the evening. Two stars for the lovely location, sunset and a very good restaurant a short walk down the beach.
