The staff were all amazing and friendly, all willing to help and stop to ask if you need anything (even the maintenance personnel) . The property is beautiful but it does get a little boring after a few days. The food was delicious but very similar at both restaurants, and there’s taxes and fees for everything so it gets very pricey fast. There’s no music anywhere so that was our main complaint. Definitely only relaxing, so we got a little stir crazy. But all in all it was great!

The bungalows with private pool overlooking the ocean was a truly unique and special experience for us. You are very much in nature though, with many animals around. The beach is small but the water is nice and there aren't too many rooms so it never feels crowded. The breakfast spot it great. We just stayed 2 nights, I imagine if you stayed for longer than 3 or 4 days you may get a little bored of the menu which is the same in both restaurants.

Staff was friendly, and attentive. You can't beat the views. The rooms clean, and food tasty. Really a spectacular escape

Don’t let the bad reviews scare you off — my boyfriend and I had a great stay at Hotel Las Islas! We opted for the sea level bungalow with private pool and had the best time. The room itself is spacious and clean with VERY GOOD air conditioning, a queen bed, two closets, a hammock, TV, and a super nice bathroom (with a great shower and a bidet!), and the outdoor amenities were even better. The private pool was lovely overlooking the ocean but it’s worth noting that the pools are filled with salt (/recycled sea?) water — if you’re expecting crystal clear chlorine pools you’re at the wrong resort. It rained very hard during our stay and we didn’t have any issues with leaks or bugs in our bungalow during our entire stay.

Now for the amenities. The isleta was incredible and so beautiful, with comfy beach chairs on a clean and quiet beach, great pool area, full bar, and just a quick boat ride away. Stay to catch the sunset, you won’t be disappointed! We loved having bikes available and found the resort to be super walkable (but you may get turned around a few times — it’s huge!). The 3rd floor bar area was breezy and quiet, perfect for reading, playing cards, etc. Def check out the telescope if you have a clear night. We also loved being able to arrange a car service to/from Cartagena.

The food is decent — not the best lunch/dinner we had in Colombia but not bad either, but the breakfast spread was where the hotel shines (plus breakfast was free). Tons of fresh fruit and juices were available, along with made to order eggs and arepas, avo toast, pastries, cereal, etc. We also grabbed ice cream one day and it was a fun little midday treat. Drinks were really good and worth the price. Definitely order the frozen tropical lemonade.

Overall, great 4 night stay at Hotel Las Islas.

Las Islas in Baru is a magical place. From sleeping in the treetops to swimming in the warm and beautiful Caribbean waters, we had a wonderful stay. Riding the bikes around the property was one of out favorite aspects of our stay. Kayaking out to other islands is also not to be missed. Perfect place to unplug and unwind! We traveled by boat from Cartagena and took a car back. It was interesting to see both ways of getting to Baru.

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, food was outstanding (would absolutely recommend the cherry lemonade). The diving experience and luminescent plankton were incredible. The views from the rooms and surroundings were spectacular, and as the resort is very much in nature you can see a host of wildlife.

Remote, beautiful resort for a quiet getaway. The bungalows are private and lovely whether in the trees or on the water. Recommend 3 days or so here to experience the resort and local offerings. Staff are very attentive and responsive but not overly so. Food is very good with a wide variety of choices for all meals unlike some similar resorts. Great value!

Don’t believe any reviews about this fantastic resort that fall below five star!

The setting is idyllic, the staff are first class and the whole atmosphere is incredibly special.

The hotel is immersed amongst beautiful wildlife and the beaches are private and serene. If you want an authentic yet luxurious experience, this is it.

The bungalows themselves are very well kitted out and extremely comfortable. The food throughout the resort across each of the three restaurants is delicious and offers a great variety.

Any review of this place that falls below 5 star suggests a high maintenance and uptight reviewer!

Would 100% recommend and hopefully return!

Take time away from everyday speed and enjoy a hotel in the middle of a huge mangrove. And island experience with all the luxuries you can ask for.

We had an excellent experience here. The rooms are as magical and nice as they look in the pictures, and the seaside villas were lovely. The staff works hard to provide an excellent and friendly experience, and even went out of their way to fulfil a couple of special requests we had (thanks Sr Over!).

Will definitely be returning!

Like others, I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the negative reviews. We stayed 2 nights and happily our experience was wonderful from start to finish.

We stayed in one of the treehouses which was beautiful. Clean, spacious and a totally unique experience. You are essentially in the jungle canopy, so there will be a few bugs and lizards but that’s to be expected and wasn’t an issue for us at all. The hotel grounds and beaches are beautiful and well looked after. You can either cycle or walk between areas - it’s a big property but walking doesn’t usually take more than 15 minutes depending on where your room is and where you’re trying to get to. Alternatively you can call for a buggy. Staff are very friendly, helpful and welcoming.

The breakfast buffet is excellent and in one of the most magical settings right on the water. There’s a choice of fruit, hams, cheese and eggs as well as coffee and fresh juice. The lunch options are equally good - we particularly enjoyed the ceviche and gazpacho on the beach. Dinner was also excellent - we had the grill option, fish and pasta during our stay there and it was all delicious. Service was very good - we never had to wait long or re-order anything.

The sky was too cloudy for stars but the guy went out of his way to focus the telescope on the moon which was amazing to see in such detail. The bar has amazing views over the property so definitely worth a visit too. You can also kayak and paddleboard or swim to the little jetty with deck chairs floating in the sea.

I struggle to understand the negative reviews - it’s strange that experiences can be so inconsistent. I would say that it is an ecological resort in the jungle so be prepared to manage your expectations accordingly. The phone in the room didn’t work but they sent someone out right away and fixed it. The wifi can be a little patchy and we had some geckos and a monkey visiting our balcony but again, that’s the location. For us it was a magical experience and the perfect setting for our engagement. We will remember it forever. Thank you!

After booking a night at this hotel, I read all the reviews on Google and almost cancelled our stay. I'm so glad we didn't because Las Islas is a true oasis! I was mad we only booked one night, I think you need at least two.

The grounds were gorgeous, our tree top villa comfortable with great treetop views, all the food we had was delicious, loved riding the bikes around and a golf cart came as soon as we called for checkout. I can't recommend Las Islas enough! I truly don't understand the bad reviews, I'm guessing these are people used to top 5 star hotels. This was a splurge for us and worth every penny.

Let me start off by saying - I read ALL of the Google reviews prior to my trip, and they made me quite nervous. We arrived at the hotel for our 3 night stay with low expectations, expecting all of the things that previous reviewers had complained about. While some of the "complaints" are reasonably valid (yes there absolutely are lizards and bugs - you're in nature!), none of it impacted the enjoyability of our stay. The property is BEAUTIFUL and well maintained, the staff is wonderful and friendly, the food was delicious, and we had an incredible time. I would absolutely recommend the hotel to a friend!

We had a wonderful time on honeymoon at Las Islas. The beachside cabins were lovely and secluded, and the property was very walkable and with various beach options to relax, have a cocktail & eat, or swim. We spent 4 nights, 5 days there and left feeling very refreshed. Special thanks to Karen for making us feel so welcome, and Rodrigo for helping us arrange a helicopter departure when the boat to Cartagena was cancelled due to foreseen circumstances. We will certainly return!

We just finished a three night stay here and we are sad to be leaving. We stayed in a Treetop bungalow and it was amazing. Above the trees and view of the ocean. All of the food was wonderful. I’m not sure what the guests who have bad reviews were expecting. You are in the jungle - there will be bugs. The mangroves do give off a natural sulphuric smell however it’s not noticeable unless you are walking by one small area. This is an undiscovered gem. Hotel arranged car transfer from airport. 90 minute easy ride. 15 minutes are on a part of the road that is being developed- slow going with potholes. I got a massage and facial at the spa - very relaxing and reasonably priced compared to US. Did the snorkel tour and also hired a boat to take us fishing. If you love nature and want something out of the ordinary- this is a lovely place. Clean, comfortable and wonderful service.

Amazing hotel to do eco tourism. You’re in the middle of the mangroves but with all the luxuries of a upper class hotel. Our room had a private salt water pool with a view to the ocean.

The food is delicious and the staff is extremely friendly and helping. It was like doing wellness for the soul.

Thank you!

What an incredible place. Taking a boat from the mainland really adds to the amazing experience. Staff was very nice, the rooms were awesome, food and drink fantastic and the general setting was unforgettable. You are literally part of the jungle even as you enjoy first class facilities.

I had an amazing experience at this hotel! The room was one of the nicest rooms I have EVER stayed in. The food was wonderful and the staff were very accommodating. The helicopter ride was very memorable and enjoyed the mangrove tour.

This was amazing for us. If you are a nature lover, this is the place for you. I recommend getting there by boat. Car can be a little scary for people that are not used to un developed roads. They are working on them. The hotel is helping build a road to the hotel. Until then, stuck to the boat if you don’t mind paying a little extra and the boat ride is faster. There is an incredible telescope on top of the club house. Check it out. The salt water pools feel like silk and they empty them out every time a guest switches rooms and they clean them. The rooms were clean and there is natural bug spray everywhere, but we did not need it. The workers work very hard to maintain this place any reviews that say they were bothered by leaves in the walkway are not nature lovers. It’s beautiful there.
