Very beautiful place. Variety of food, Friendly staff. You want the lower Level suite on the water. there is only one. Otherwise, you will have a 47 second walk to the beach from the back bungalow. Will give repeat service.

This place beat my expectations for sure. I def give it 5 stars (not comparing what other countries 5 stars would be). The location was perfect for us we didn’t not even leave the hotel. The majority of the staff was personable, were friendly, very accommodating, and a pleasure to interact with. The males more than the females though. We obtained paddleboards from German that comes every morning. He too was amazing. We were expecting only breakfast and we ended up getting 3 meals a day! Wish I had know that ahead of time, I don’t think that information was in the description. The food was pretty good and better than other places we have been to. I recommend their ceviche and their mojitos.

A few things to know before booking, contact the hotel for transportation. Wish I did better planning ahead of time. For $90.000 you get from Cartagena to the Island leaving at 8am ONLY. The return for also $90.000 but at 3pm ONLY. So you better have a 7pm or later flight to account for travel. We did not and had to get a private boat the hotel assisted us so much in getting.

Some recommendations for the hotel. I’d like to see some mattress protectors to keep mattresses clean (they were) and thin quilts to cover the bed. Seems people only use sheets and I didn’t want to use the blankets in the closet. Also we didn’t know we couldn’t not add a tip at check out. We did end up giving money to reception to split between everyone at check out, but had I know I would have brought more money/change to give individually because the staff was AMAZING.

If I ever come back, I’d stay here again :)

We spent four nights at Isla del Sol and it was great! Three meals a day are included in the price of the room and the food was good. You can also buy snacks and other food at the bar. The room was clean and the air conditioning worked well. The views were gorgeous. The beach and pool were both great - perfect for our three kids. The hotel offers daily activities including snorkeling, massages, a boat ride to the oceanarium, an ecological tour and the bioluminescent tour. The bioluminescent tour wasn’t great, but that could have just been because of the moon. All the other tours were great though. Also, the boats back to Cartagena leave at 3:00 each day but the hotel can arrange a boat for you earlier if you ask.

Just went for lunch. It was a wonderful experience. Excellent drinks and delicious food. Very relaxing atmosphere at our table between the sea and the pool. Look forward to my next visit.

Good Points:
- The location, totally worth the hour it takes to get there by boat. It's a beautiful place.
- The food isn't bad, it's not the best dining experience you'll ever have but it's not bad. And the amount is generous.
- The attention, without a doubt the most valuable thing, the staff is very attentive and extremely friendly. In general everyone on the island is. Hopefully the hotel owners are paying them a living wage.
- The tour of the bioluminescência has to been done. Extremely beautiful.

Bad points: particularly our room did not have air conditioning but fans.

Of course I would return, although I would prefer to see new places if one day I return with my parents, for example. I would stay on Isla del Sol again.

We stayed 3 nights the place is wonderful on a nice beach. Rooms are quite basic but clean and with all the comforts. The place gets busier during the day from 10 am to 3 pm as it welcomes daily excursionists but otherwise super calm and relaxing. Food is also really nice we could enjoy local caribeean cuisine.

One of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had! Not only is the island beautiful, but the hotel staff is also very friendly and attentive. The rooms are so nice and comfortable, and the food is both varied and delicious. Best of all, prices are great! I have no complaints at all!

I’d recommend Isla del Sol to anyone who wants to enjoy a fun but also relaxing time next to the sea.

Excellent choice to relax as it is private. It has its own beach, the food is amazing and the staff is very kind. 100% recommended. Thanks Jorge for making our stay memorable.

Isla del Sol was fantastic and comes highly recommended. The hotel's staff members were dedicated, watchful, and efficient in addition to being very kind and generous.

Make sure you stay a few nights to truly unwind and take advantage of everything the island has to offer, including delectable cuisine, excellent snorkeling, hospitable locals, and glow-in-the-dark plankton.
Your vacation at Isla del Sol won't be regrettable.

A friend and I stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. We booked a boat to and from Cartagena with ease through the hotel. From the moment we got to the port, the attentive staff made sure we knew where we were going and were very well looked after - all with a language barrier (our bad, we are not good at Spanish). We were the only English speaking people on the boat out of 50 or so and the guide made a point to translate everything for us. Once we arrived, Camilo at reception was welcoming and made sure our belongings were stored safely before check in. Camilo was our resident translator during our stay and was so kind. Thank you! It's a smaller hotel and the service was very intimate, which we loved. A really nice relaxing, laid back atmosphere to get away from the chaos of the city. There's tons of activities to do, guided or not, if that's what you're in to, and they're not pushy about it. Rooms are basic but clean, the shower is great. Not a big deal, you're never in them anyway. Hammock - A+. Staff at the bar are amazing, friendly and attentive. Shout out to Marie. Honestly, all staff amazing. Now food. Breakfast is a buffet with a nice light selection - eggs, fruit, arepas. Lunch is wild with so many options, the biggest meals we had there. And by wild I mean great. Dinner also great. By all means food is good. Loved this place. Would recommend if you want a quiet relaxing night or two. Thanks Isla del Sol!

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary there. It was an incredible experience. If you are looking for a place to disconnect and/or relax, you find it here. We stayed for 2 nights and our expectations were exceeded. The staff went above and beyond, especially coming from Anderson, Jorge, and Osvaldo.. The food was amazing, being pregnant, I had some food limitations, so if seafood is not your thing, they have a variety of options. I highly recommend it. Keep in mind that this is not a party place, you will feel that you are the only people in the island because it gets really quite after 3pm after the one day pass guests have left.

Good food, the rooms are large, tidy and beautiful decorated. The beds are comfortable- but highlight of our stay are the staff. Camillo , Maria and many other staff went above and beyond every day.

This place is fantastic. For the price you pay to stay here it really is excellent. The staff are incredibly friendly and hospitable. While we were there it was my wife’s birthday and they managed to arrange for our dinner to be on a specially set out table on a pier and they even had a birthday cake made especially. Nothing was too much trouble.
You have to bear in mind that the Rosario Islands are a nature reserve and National Park meaning it is subject to strict rules around protecting the environment. As such, heated water for showers rely on being heated by the sun etc. so they aren’t going to be hot in the morning.
The food throughout our three day stay was fantastic. The fish and meat dishes were delicious and the drinks at the bar are very reasonable (bottle of Aguila original 7000 CPO, cocktails 30,000 CPO).
There are many activities to do such as trips around the islands, tours of the village, snorkelling, diving, trip to the aquarium etc. which should suit all guests.
The hotel has its own private beach which they allow very few, if any, party boats to come near. There is a nice enclosed section of the water which is shallow and therefore suitable for non swimmers. Capable swimmers can enter the sea via the pier where the water is much deeper.
The hotel provides boat transfers from Cartagena. It takes roughly an hour but prepare for getting wet if it is rain season. Your luggage is stored away in the boat in a dry area. If you have smaller bags with electronics you should consider getting a dry bag. I would also advise wearing flip flops or sliders instead of trainers as mine got soaked!
Overall we had a brilliant stay and I would highly highly recommend this hotel if you want a slice of paradise at a reasonable price.

The three days in the Hotel Isla del Sol were great, the service was wonderful, all the service staff were very nice, friendly and accommodating. The prices were great, you could drink endlessly, the sun was burning. The air conditioning worked and the islanders were all so nice that I don't even know why some people say you shouldn't leave the compound.

Isla del Sol was amazing and 100% recommendable. The staff throughout the hotel were diligent, attentive and efficient, not to mention very caring and generous. One of our group had her birthday while staying at Isla del Sol, and the staff helped us organise an incredible celebration, with a delicious cake, plus balloons & flowers in her room. We felt part of a big family while staying here.
Make sure you stay here a few nights to really relax and enjoy all the island has to offer - delicious food, great snorkelling, friendly people and glow in the dark plankton.
You won't regret staying at Isla del Sol.
