One of my favorite historical sites in Alberta. The aesthetic of the place is amazing, there is so much info, and the tour guide was fantastic. I will definitely be bringing some people to explore with me next time!

My family had an incredible time here with the guided tour led by the gentleman. He knew everything about the plant, and was very friendly. The tour lasted about an hour and we learned so much! This is definitely an one of a kind experience and is highly recommended. Bring sunscreen, hats, water, etc because a lot of it is outdoors.

As my wife and I were the only ones on the tour, we had a very comprehensive tour.
Well worth the money. Some very interesting facts

Have you seen the latest Ghost Buster movie? Well if you have you may recognize some of the building’s interiors. Some of the scenes were shot here.
Apart from that, we did the full tour here and the history of the plant is fascinating.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave interesting information on how the gas plant was founded, how it became successful, the people it employed and a run down of how it all worked. If you appreciate recent history then this is a great site to do a tour. While you are there I recommend visiting the stores and Eau Claire’s Distillery. Surrounding towns of interest are Okotoks, Black Diamond, and my fav.. Longview. Twin Cities Saloon has great burgers and the hotel is rated one if the most haunted hotels in Canada. I stayed overnight in winter when there was no one else staying and I found out later about the haunted part and if I’d known I wouldn’t have had the guts to do it. Funny thing is.. when I was in the bathroom I really sensed someone was there. Next morning I went to the local coffee shop in town and the lady told me that it was haunted and I told her about my experience. This summer I took one of my sons for the burger and next to the pool table is a poster with an explanation of its hauntedness. I’m so glad I stayed there first and found out later. It has a lot of history that you can search on google. In Longview is also my favourite all time restaurant, Longview Steakhouse. A family run restaurant with a nice view as the name suggests. This restaurant is extremely popular and I had to book in February to get a reservation for July. The owners are so passionate and knowledgeable about their dishes. I absolutely love it and to say it’s my favourite all time restaurant is high praise.

This was an eye-opening visit: I had no idea of the historic significance of this plant. Our main motivation was Ghostbusters location-spotting! The tour was very detailed and our guide, Darryl, was fantastic - he used to work in the plant when it was active so had lots of personal experiences to share that illuminated the tour.

One of the best tours we have been on in a long time. The tour was about an hour long, with lots of information and history. The guide was extremely knowledgeable. Well worth the $12.

Wow ... the old oil and gas plant is awesomely dystopian, especially with the big herd of deer ambling through eating the tall grass. Such a place of history in Alberta, the start of the oil and gas business!

I had a "fantastic" tour of the plant with a VERY enthusiastic volunteer (Iris, I hope I caught her name correctly). A very interesting "museum" in an absolutely gorgeous part of Alberta. I really should drive the length of Hwy 22 sometime, the scenery is fantastic.
I imagine that some people would find the tour a bit dry, but if you have an interest in engineering, science and technology, or oil and gas industry history, this is well worth the 45 minute drive from Calgary.
