Loved our stay at this campground!
Only 1 hour from our home in the city but truly a camping getaway. No cellphone service, no wifi, just nature!
And cattle!
Doe and fawn grazing 10 ft off the trail! Not disturbed by my presence at all.

Excellent maintenance of the sites. Friendly helpful camp hosts!

This is not a hotel, so there is no room and room service. But this is a very nice campsite. It is difficult to reserve a place on weekends. Luckily I got the last reservation. Enjoyed a beautiful day with my friends. The camp has water, electricity and hot baths. Quiet and private. There are also quite a few mountain bike trails nearby. Down the slope to the river and parking in the day use area. Sitting on a beach chair in the stream, the heat will disappear. It's not hot here at all, even in the middle of the night it may drop to 5 degrees Celsius. A beautiful day.

Spaced out sites, plenty of trees, well behaved guests. This campground is by far our favorite. Wood truck came by first evening, $10 bundles with fair amount of dry wood.
Sites have 20/30A connections. Fresh water available at fill Station. Sani dump free at location for pull out.

We were in site C65, which is the first back in site entering C loop. Site had plenty of space for our 30ft trailer and two vehicles. Could have put a large tent up as well. Right across from pit toilets, but couldn't smell them on site which is a double bonus.

Fire pits are tiny, but better than nothing.

Site and campground is extremely clean.

Loved this location!

Just camped in C76 with a friend next door. Great sites also, close to bathroom and the park.

Lovely campground with powered sites, and if you are lucky to get one overlooking the valley like we did this time, the views are amazing! Be aware that it is prone to wind gusts that the more sheltered sites don't get. Short drive to Sheep River Falls and Bighorn day use areas. Lots of equestrian usage areas as well.
Nice to wake up to leafy trees an green valleys for a change as we usually are in the mountains with pine and spruce. Spotted friendly deer in the area daily and on the trails.
Dump station and potable water at entrance.

This campground is really great. Lots of good trails to go on and they have a great stream where you can dip your feet or more. We found a perfect wasp nest. I was feeding the squirrels peanuts in a shell and giving him water

Lovely campground with plenty of sites with services. It's hard to get a spot if you don't book a few months in advance. Close to Sheep River and some other hiking trails through some of Alberta's foothills. Be cautious on the drive out as there are cows everywhere.

This was lovely. Well maintained, wonderful location in hills. Saw deer, sheep and many squirrels. Hiking, biking and touring the park(s). Or dead for historic Black Diamond. Perfect locale.

Camp grounds are great but no cell service or internet. It is great for families to connect instead of on the phones. Sites are well kept and far apart.

Beautiful place.
The sites are powered and have great space. We were easily able to fit our trailer and two vehicles into the space. The campground was clean and well kept.
The outhouses were always stocked and clean and there’s a decent amount in the area.
The showers had nice hot water (you do need to purchase coins from the park rangers).
The area is beautiful and peaceful. No reception; unless you go for a little walk.
We really loved our stay there.

Great for a weekend away. The reno's done a few years ago were done well, added more sites and power to all the sites but they are still well placed for privacy. They also added a nice shower facility during the renovations. Wish the playground was a bit bigger and it's a shame the picnic area hasn't reopened since the floods, it was a nice spot. Lots of easy hiking trails around that children can handle. We can make it there in about an hour from our house in Marlborough so very convenient for that quick weekend trip.

This campsite is a diamond in the rough. It's so beautiful, nestled in the foothills of Kananaskis, it's general proximity to Calgary makes this campsite an excellent choice for a longer stay. You also have the amenities of Turner Valley and Black Diamond within 20 min.

Right now, March, it's not open, but the road from Turner valley is plowed, as is the day use area. A few picnic tables can be accessed with a little determination and if you bring your own wood you can have a fire. I am not sure it's allowed but we have done it twice and noone said anything. Cross country skiing and hiking is popular, but trails are melting fast. Lots of cars parked on the road. The day use parking was full. Washrooms were open in day use area.

My new favorite place to camp. Close enough to Calgary that even camping out for a night is possible. Campsites and large and well planned so that you're not starting right at your neighbours. Bathrooms were extremely clean and we'll kept. And most importantly, the Staff was friendly and very professional.

This is a great camp area, lots of sites, electrical and parks for kids. It's paved all the way to each loop too and has dumping stations and water right on site. The attendants are very personable and keep the grounds nice and clean! I love camping here!

What a wonderful campground. It's one of our favourites. We've just spent 2 weeks here and even though it's been full the whole time it's been very quiet. The sites are nice and big and most are spread out from the neighbours. This year the campground is still first come fist in and Sunday is the day it changes over and largely fills up again so it's not easy to get into. Next year (2021) it will be switching to the provincial reservation system so I expect it will be even more difficult to find a site. It's unfortunate as it's one of the last campgrounds in the area that is still first come. All in all its a wonderful place to get away from it all. Note, there is no cell service here. Service is available about 10 minutes back towards Turner Valley.

Nice campground and the spots are spaced out decently so it feels very private. Many hiking and biking trails a stones throw away! We will be back

Update: 5-stars now that you can reserve!

Previous Review: Great campground but I don't like the fact that it's first come first serve. Not fun packing the entire RV, driving down there only to have to turn back home (or to a campground not nearly as nice). 5-stars if you could reserve a site.

Fantastic first visit would highly recommend. I enjoy "mountain" camping and Elkwood and Boulton Creek are still my all-time local favorites. With that being said this is in my top three and a minor drive from Calgary, beautiful country, and the campers have a little more party in them than Elkwood and Boulton. We plan on going again this summerand also a nice bike ride to Turner Valley or into the park if biking is on your agenda

This is an amazing campground, love the beauty of the sites. There is so much to do and see all around this campground. The group camp B is amazing, annually my husband's family rents the group camp, and we honestly have the best time. Couldn't ask for a better campground.
