Hillside Motel

Was given a free room upgrade, very much appreciated. Lovely view out of room, very conveniently located.

I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. First, the owner was super friendly and went out of his way to help me out with my stay. I stayed in the family suite that is basically a small apartment. It has 2 queen beds and a full kitchen. The building appears to be pretty old but I believe it's relatively recently renovated. I'll most definitely be checking here first for availability next time I'm staying in the area.

Looking at the reviews, some people have unreasonable expectations for the rate charged. The decor is very dated. But the room was clean, and the manager was quite pleasant and helpful. I ended up extending my stay from 3 days to a full week because it was economical and pretty central to a lot of things in New Brunswick. I opted for the queen room with the kitchen amenities, and the microwave and fridge were just fine. There was a coffee maker although there is no coffee provided. I brought my own Nespresso machine because I'm picky. So I didn't care about that. There's a Keurig in the office which I would assume is available to guests although I didn't use that either. There was a limited selection of cups and plates and silverware with the request that you wash them if you use them. With the front and back windows open there is a pretty fantastic breeze. In high summer, it might not be so good during the day without AC. I was here in late August and it was perfect. When I got back from a day out with the windows closed all day, I would turn on the bathroom fan to help kickstart the airflow. There are a lot of good things to do within an hour or so of this location, so I thought it was well worth it. I would absolutely stay here again.

Such a cute place to stay in Saint John. The owner was super nice and friendly. The room was clean and adorable. Would have liked little shampoos because I forgot mine but not a deal breaker. And the driveway into the site is a little steep but overall a great stay.

The owners are amazing! The room was very clean . We showed up with our dogs and they welcomed us with open arms even though they had no more animal friendly rooms!

We had a very pleasant experience in our stay at this motel and I felt it was very much worth the money. As others have also noted, the owner is a very warm and accommodating man and he made myself and my family feel very welcome and safe. The room we were in was recently remodeled, very clean, and offered a nice view when we woke up in the morning. I would recommend this motel to anyone looking for a place to stay when passing through St. John.

Was a great inexpensive Hotel to stay. Owner was very accommodating and helpful. One of the few hotels that accept dogs as guests. Rates reasonable, room had all my required amenities and bed was comfortable.

Couple friends and I stayed here when we went on a road trip. The owner (Lokesh) is a very nice and friendly person. Our room is located in a high-ish level of elevation and it had a balcony so there were some great views!

Don’t let the outward appearance fool you. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff is outstanding. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

What a great place. The owner was very friendly, and spent at least 20 minutes telling us about the sites to see. The accommodations were clean, the towels soft. More than just a pit stop, but a friendly welcome to St John.

Was a great spot along our journey through east Canada. Kant was very kind and helped with anything extra we needed to make our stay as cozy as needed. Bed comfortable and quiet neighbourhood.

Yes it's an old motel, but it's cheap, clean, has amazing customer service, and has a beautiful view.
