I am sorry to see the low ratings from some people. I find Dr. Agbodo to be very professional and personable. He has been very helpful to me and my son. Sometimes there may not be a connection to a doctor which does not mean they are a bad doctor it just means you may be more successful looking for another doctor who you can relate to. Sometimes people seek help and diagnosis but they do not realize it takes time to make an assessment and provide a medication that works for them. Sometimes people only hear what they want and if the doctor's opinion does not match yours then they are wrong and a closed mind is not going to help you get to where you need to be.

I am very grateful for the care I received from Dr. Agbodo and his office which was excellent. I found him to be a great listener, extremely patient, never rushed despite his busy schedule, collaborative, open and so kind. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I feel so much better. Blessings to you all.

Dr. Agbodo is excellent at what he does. You can tell he really cares and genuinely wants to help.

He was professional, honest and very easy to talk to. We even shared a few laughs.

I would highly recommend this man to anyone. Especially to friends and family

I shared this review on RateMDs but thought I ought to post it on here too, since there is such a disparity in the ratings for Dr. Agbodo that really do not reflect who I know him to be as my psychiatrist. I will preface this by saying that is my personal experience with Dr. Agbodo as a current patient.

In my opinion, Dr. Agbodo has a special skill of taking the time to listen to understand his patients, rather than listening to simply respond. He is an exceptional psychiatrist, and the only one I have had who has perfected this skill. From the first appointment, I could tell that this was going to be a different experience. I felt heard, understood, and validated by him because of his approach to patient care. He does not view his patients like a checklist of symptoms to go threw and examine.

At the start of each of my appointments, he prioritizes checking in on me by re-visiting any events that may have occurred in between appointments. This is not a surface level "How is your day?", he truly takes the time to touch base with me to gain a better understanding about where my mental health is at (this isn't to say that he doesn't ask how my day is going or how work is going, he absolutely does ask these things to have a genuine conversation). I find this is really helpful when the conversation switches to my medication and how I have been doing on them. Dr. Agbodo guides the conversation in terms of asking how a certain medication is going by bringing it up by name, but then allows me to explain to him where I am at with it, if I find it is helpful, etc. He does not interject and always allows me to finish before he touches base and explores what I said further. I feel like I am allowed to speak freely, without any judgement on his part. He values my input regarding my medication, and has worked really hard with me since my first visit to find the right balance to keep me going. He always offers up different treatment options and will ask me how I feel about them.

It is a collaborative process with Dr. Agbodo, not one of finality. He understands that life can be in flux from one appointment to another, but above all else he values the truth. It has been okay for me to say that I wasn't okay during previous appointments, just like it was okay for me to say that I was doing better. It has been okay for me to say I didn't feel like a certain medication was helping, just like it was okay for me to say that it felt like it was working too much and needed to be lowered. I don't feel judged when I vent about what is feeling heavy in my life. He also celebrates the improvements with me. I am grateful that I was able to become one of his patients.

His staff went above and beyond recently for me when I was going through a rough patch. Besides that, they are always pleasant to interact with and on one occasion they took the time to let me know that my appointment would be running a little bit later than scheduled. I'm glad that Dr. Agbodo gave whoever it was the extra time that they needed to talk through whatever they were experiencing because I know he would do the same for me.

To whoever is reading my review, I hope that this is a small nudge towards taking the first step of contacting Dr. Agbodo. I needed the nudge, too.

Dr Agobodo has been amazing. He actually takes the time to listen to what’s working for me and what’s not and is quick to make adjustments when needed. He has been incredibly accommodating even staying late or calling me on weekends if needed. He goes above and beyond.

I've seen psychiatrists on and off for the past 20 years. Dr.Agbodo has impeccable bedside manners and will go above and beyond to help you. In the past doctors would shame me when my medication wasn't working, making me feel like I was the problem. Thank you, Dr. Agbodo.

Unfortunately our first phone meeting with the DR. was not successful at all. His staff or himself were not prepared for my wife's case, in fact when she had a serious triggered reaction she immediately passed the phone to me because she was hysteric. Once I explained the reason for her reaction and how we were suggested to proceed even though we had our reservations because of the case details, we were then accused her reaction was because of race!!

Which I apologized for the reaction, but then followed with if you were better prepared for this particular case, than you may have approached it entirely different.

This of course had a reverse effect on my better half's mental state and took sometime to come back. Not impressed, no professionalism only blame and shame on how she reacted. Sad

I don’t want to get into personal information about my own mental health reasons and struggles for calling. But without explanation I found the doctor to be very unprofessional. Him replying to the negative reviews explaining client’s issues trying to turn the negative experience on them is very very unprofessional. I’m no lawyer but I would like to believe this kinda stuff is supposed to be kept confidential. There is no need to go that far into trying to fix a negative review, you actually just make it look worse.

The absurdity of this response laughable. There's much more to this story. The lack of responsibility for patients is apparent though. If I were wealthy I wouldn't be there in the first place lol. I have reported to the College of Physicians for all the good that may do.
This Dr. has given me no clear diagnosis but medicated me with 5 separate medications 2 of which are known for serious negative interaction. His ad is even false; there was no relationship between he and my family Dr. I also went to him specifically for increased anger. I even wrote a brief letter before meeting him. I don't believe he read it to date. I'm currently without help and no referral was made. This irresponsibility can't continue.
