Purchasing a piece of pottery from Island Clayworks is an investment in usable art. We love our morning cup of coffee, our evening cup of tea and now our mid-morning espresso so much more because we're enjoying them in the most beautiful mugs made by Anita and Neil.
There is a ritual around reaching into the cupboard and deciding what mug to choose – the small one or the big one with the mushrooms thoughtfully placed by Anita or the one with the humpbacks or the salmon intricately carved by Neil.
We are so thrilled to now add a custom espresso mug to our collection and it's even more exciting that it was made collaboratively by both Anita and Neil.
I cannot recommend these talented potters enough. Do yourself a favour and brighten up your cupboards with their one-of-a-kind living art!

A must-see when visiting Gold River! Island Clayworks has lots of exquisite original pottery. Both potters have unique and varied styles with many fine examples on display.

I purchased a gorgeous raven mug made by Neil just yesterday. I was so excited to use this mug this morning. While sitting staring out into my forested back yard, warm coffee in my hand, the mug completed the picture.. It has already brought me so much joy and it is a perfect piece of art to enjoy daily.

A really beautiful cafe located just near the bridge over Gold River... While I didn't have a coffee, I got one of their fruit smoothies and was not disappointed. I almost went back for a second one but I was already up the highway by the time I finished the first one.
Their attached studio and in-café gallery is nice to to look at while you're waiting, and I ended up buying a few of their more unique pieces of clay pottery - the designs and workmanship are something I've never seen before.

Definitely a must stop kind of place for Gold River!

I totally enjoy the work of this studio because their pottery is just so satisfying. It ticks all my boxes In their shapes, textures, and the way they are constantly finding new and unique glazing techniques and fresh relevant designs within classic forms. My favourites are the ginkgo bowls in fresh green glazing and delicate organic patterns , and the salmon bowl and plates with their rich earthy colours and the stories the etched salmon tell. Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you so much Island Clayworks!

Excellent decor and vibe for casual eating. Owners locally made pottery ( made in their next door studio) and other Artisan art on display and available for purchase. Been many times and the food has always been great...fresh homemade with lots of healthy options.

We had a lovely lunch here recently, food was homemade and very tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful offering us some great tips on things to do and see in the area. Highly recommended stopping here for food.

I’ve known Anita and Neil for many years but have never had the privilege of visiting their gallery in Gold River. One day, hopefully soon after this pandemic is over, I’ll travel up island to view their latest work. They each make a wonderful variety of ceramics and seem to be flourishing in their new space.

One of the best places to eat in town. Tasty food (I'm very partial to their homemade veggie burger), great service, and very pleasant, artsy atmosphere.
