My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and boy was it the right place. It's a more casual upscale food take place. Our meals were excellent and we ate way too much. Each plate was beautifully presented. Our waitress was very nice even when the Polaroid camera didn't work well.

It's a vibe. The food was coursed out perfectly. The four course dinner has such good value. The food was so innovative. Jess was our server. She was funny and very accommodating. Thank you to all.

The food and service at the Deer and Almond was outstanding. We started with a delicious cocktail. We did the wine pairings, which complimented and enhanced each dish. The food had complex flavours. We had the morel appetizer and the grilled romain. Both were incredibly delicious. Next we had the beet dish, the cabbage and the tuna. All were delicious, the cabbage was my favourite. The mains we had were the lamb, the papperdelle pasta and the halibut. All were very pleased with their choice. I really enjoyed my lamb. Every part of the dish was executed with excellence. Every aspect was delicious and together the flavours sang. Dessert was peanut semifreddo and custard. All of us were pleased with our choices. The peanut semifreddo was very delicious, the best dessert I have had in a very long time.

This experience from the cocktails we started with, the quaint atmosphere, delicious food enhanced by the wine pairings, was a fantastic way to spend an evening. The servers were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Thank you for this experience.

My reason for the lower score on atmosphere is I thought the surroundings could use some refreshment. However this does not take away from the delicious food.

Great spot. Food was unreal. Really cool menu the way they have it set up. Set menu with 4 options in each of the 4 categories. Can be paired with wines additionally.

Amazing meal! Sit at the bar for a la carte options.

You must get the Yu Choi, Pappardelle and peanut semifreddo.

In town for town and snagged a seat at the bar. Tasting menu was amazing, with a great explanation of the dishes from the staff to help guide my choices. The wines were excellent, and I couldn't get enough of each bite. Great value for the quality of each of the four courses with clear passion from the chef and team - will gladly return next time I'm in town!

An amazing experience! I am currently on a dairy free & gluten free adventure but wanted to treat my friend to a birthday dinner at a local legend. I wasn't sure if I would be able to have a full dinner experience or not; to my surprise, they were able to provide an experience entirely tailored to my dietary restrictions (including creating meal options not even on their menu). From the moment we were greeted at the door, we were treated like royalty. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and keen to create a meal that would delight our palates and cater to our dietary restrictions. We could tell that they truly cared about curating a unique experience just for us.

We were blown away by every dish that came out and even though they looked too pretty to eat, it was like heaven on a fork. Pair that with some wonderfully curated wines and we felt lifted to a higher level of dining experience.

Overall experience is good. We did the tasting menu. I did really enjoy the ravioli.. the other dishes were not bad. I would prefer to have à la carte instead though.

Deer+Almond has well deserved its place as one of Canada's best. Unlike many other restaurants, this one offers a unique, mind-blowing experience.
The place is lovely and has a cool modern decoration (I was a personal fan of the squirell at the bar). It's really nice to visit a high-end restaurant which is not just black or dark, here you'll find pastel colors, neon lights and fun art.
The food is just amazing, and I highly recommend you to share in order to try as many dishes as possible.
To start, we had the Jerusalem Artichoke and deer carpaccio. This last one is definitely a must try if it is available when you visit.
We also tried goldeye nigiri and green pappardelle, as well as trout and pork. We loved that the restaurant creates and gives its own twist with local ingredients, which is what makes the food special. No single dish disappointed us. They were al delicious!
Something that made us appreciate our food even more, is knowing that every time we visit we'll likely find something different since the chefs are always creating new dishes and keeping things fresh according to the season and the chefs vision for the day.
The staff is fantastic and open to suggesting their own favourites if asked. We also had the opportunity to meet both chefs and owners, which are really creative and were really kind to explain some of the story of Deer + Almond and the food they serve.
Deer + Almond is not just food but a whole experience, and it's great to be able to enjoy this place in Winnipeg. Totally recommend it!

This is the first time I have been here and it’s so good!!! All of the foods are exquisite and amazing. The male server ( I think he is the manager) is so knowledgeable and kind. I will definitely come back!!! Highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience fine dining!

Innovative and delicious, the food is modern and spectacular, showcasing a broad set of skills. We had to come back a second night to sample the rest of the menu.
Definitely go for the coursed dinner; the a la carte menu is abbreviated.
The bar tender is also excellent, and the wines by the glass present a good variety.

Really an outstanding restaurant! The service is awesome because they give you a wine tasting and also intricately explain the items you are ordering from the dining experience menu. Valpolicella Superiore and Deer Carpaccio are match made in heaven; it was my first time having a deer dish that too in carpaccio form - loved it and it was my favourite 😻 from the menu! Green Pappardelle was soft and tasty with a flavour bomb in that fiery chilli oil, wow 🤩🔥 Pork Schnitzel and Honey Custard had nice presentation but tastes ok compared to the first two dishes!! The restaurant is extremely hygienic and tip top with a casual ambience 🥰 Palette cleanser served at the end and complimentary starter received were also good 😌

Beautiful, breathtaking, creative, sweet, savoury, vibrant… Deer + Almond crafts a gorgeous and intimate dining experience that I was truly surprised to find in Winnipeg. Patrons must try chef’s imaginative tasting menu that includes inspiration from Italy, Japan, Germany, Ukraine, and others providing an tasteful experience that is somehow new and nostalgic. The restaurant is warm and cozy, while the service provided makes every customer feel personal as though they’re a celebrity that evening. I had no expectations and only went because a local (and very smart) barista at Little Sisters Coffee Maker recommended it, but I left feeling like I just had the best meal of 2023. Deer + Almond is perfect for a romantic evening or an occasion worth celebrating as there is no doubt you’ll leave beyond satisfied. I recommend the bone marrow w/chanterelles, goldeneye nigiri, beet agnolotti, and peanut semifreddo (which has been on the menu for 11-years). As my bartender said, I’ve only tried a quarter of the menu, so I’m ecstatic for my return (hopefully soon).

The best meal I've had in Winnipeg. Hands down. Loved the vibes, the server was fabulous and so knowledgeable, really so great at her job. Had a cocktail, wine and the set 4 course meal, which has more selection than the a la carte meal. Deer carpaccio was fabulous, the peanut semifreddo was also so wonderful. Would go back over and over!!

Every detail was simply fantastic. The servers were so friendly and knowledgeable, sat down with us to chat with our kids and talk about the menu. Every dish so memorable and creative. This restaurant is top in Canada and a must visit on a trip to Winnipeg. My son ordered steak frites and the server said “best fries on the planet” and OMG…! 😀

I would love to grant this place more than 5 stars if possible! Starting from the staff who were very friendly and warm welcoming us in, with a special thanks to Shan who made our experience amazing! He explained everything on the menu with great passion! The food, wow!! Everything on the menu was a next level, thanks chef, who as well visited us at our table to check everything was ok! Great service and staff. New set menu is very well thought out with a variety of flavors and textures. On the lighter side in terms on quantity but satisfactory for almost all but the most hungry of diners. Stuffed chicken wings and potatoes as extras were sizable and should be shared between 2-4 people.

Creative dishes packed with flavour. The mussels are the best I’ve ever eaten. Super friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. The restaurant came highly recommended from a local and will come back should I return to Winnipeg.
